  1. You didn't read my post very well. If our own were incentivised to manufacture here they may well think twice about moving their production overseas. Governments would be well served by handing out tax-breaks and other incentives in return for the unemployment bill going down. I can assure you it is much more expensive to ship to Europe from the far-east than it would be to pop goods over the channel. These shipping costs will rise in years to come as the container-shipping industry recovers, as it surely will. Shippers will be looking to recoup the billions they are currently losing.
  2. The 'way forward' is not as simplistic as you say. Yes, we should be encouraging the inventors and entrepreneurs, but we should also be encouraging them, through the tax system and other incentives, to manufacture in this country. Yes, it is cheaper to manufacture in the far east, but it becomes a lot more expensive in shipping costs to get your goods to the established markets of Europe and North America. Your last paragraph makes you sound like a bit of a c*nt.
  3. Is that the same Dyson who outsourced production of his vacuum cleaners from the UK to the sweatshops of the far east? It would be nice if we expanded our manufacturing base and increased our exports.
  4. The one player I've seen this season who I'd like us to sign is that lad from Bristol Rovers who came on as sub and tore us apart before scoring a screamer at the end.
  5. Waste of time and money. Both Thatcher and Blair made the mistake of thinking they could get away with anything. They were both arrogant, and the cause was that they were PMs for too long. If Thatcher was that great she wouldn't have been shafted by her own parliamentary colleagues, same goes for Blair. Maybe the American way of a President only having 2 terms is something that might be good for this country.
  6. Nineteen, I don't know of one other Saints fan who has such a disregard for both Le Tissier and McMenemy. Anyone would think you were a troll, surely not.
  7. Wealth creators are vital for the country but you are a little up your own arse. I have the EU to thank for the 48 hour week, which means I get time to spend with my family. I don't work in the public sector either.
  8. So 30% isn't a lot then? The shipbuilding industry was allowed to whither and die by a government that did nothing to help big employers win contracts that went to Italy and West Germany. Thatcher decimated the mining industry, we now have to import it, and she decided against storing any of our gas when we produced our own and left us at the peril of the Russians for our supplies. She thought it was a better idea to settle scores with Unions that left hundreds of thousands of workers unemployed, and skills and training lost for generations. By the way, I'm not exactly Phoney Tony's biggest fan either.
  9. If Pardew knows who he wants, and they are available in January then why not get them in? Half a season to bed in before a promotion push next season would be invaluable. This becomes difficult if the board want to to move players out first though.
  10. Murty didn't look fit today. I wouldn't play him on Tuesday, I would play Thomas there. I would also like to see Perry alongside Jaidi.
  11. I was there Mike. The defence were unconvincing. Think both Perry and Thomas would do better than Trotman (he has been shocking for the last 2 games), Thomas or Murty would do better than James (woeful).
  12. So why play him in midfield?
  13. Thought Lallana, Connolly and Schneiderlin were excellent. Thought we were dodgy at the back, and Lloyd James was woeful. Couldn't really fathom out Pardew's thinking for the substitutions.
  14. The UK's economy is largely based in the financial services sector, it's why we are slower coming out of recession. You can thank Thatcher and the Tories for this. They decimated the industries that we were world leaders in (eg. shipbuilding), and proceeded to oversee a massive decline in our manufacturing base.
  15. If it is being bestowed by Solent University, I'm surprised he isn't getting a degree in scriptwriting, Coronation Street or Media Studies. Good on you Mick.
  16. Bullsh*t, but you have a right to your opinion.
  17. You seem incapable of accepting other points of view. Not everything is black and white.
  18. It's funny how we can watch the same games and have vastly different views on certain players. I think Harding is very ordinary, and Mills hasn't looked the part whenever I've seen him play. Thatcher is a lot better than the pair of them.
  19. What if they have all the 'facts' at their disposal, and still come out on the sceptical side (based on 'facts). You strike me as a touch immature.
  20. I don't see it like that. Antonio does his share defensively, and Lallana is pretty lively in the tackle. The width would give us more space to play, and the pace would frighten teams to death.
  21. We'd never get into Europe with her in the side either.
  22. I am left leaning and I don't go along with all this climate change propoganda. Why the label. Cameron and the Tories are painting themselves as the party of the environment and they're not exactly left-wing are they. Unless you are telling me that they are lying - surely not.
  23. I think that a contributory factor to flooding in this country is more concrete (replacing the green stuff that can absorb water), an antiquated inadequte water system (the wonders of privatisation) and greedy developers being allowed to build on flood plains. You have a habit of labelling people ignorant for not agreeing with your point of view. Nice.
  24. And there's no chance of her marauding down the left wing. This is nearly as bad as when we got Clive Woodward and his non-league Brazilian coaching mate, but not quite.
