  1. Hadn’t realised Tall Paul wasn’t even on the bench. Never mind we can always bring Aribo on if we need to add a sense of urgency to our play.
  2. Don’t necessarily disagree with you but credit where it’s due he is prepared to go out there week after week, doesn’t hide away. Where’s Salisu when he might be needed ? Wasn’t motivated for it last I read.
  3. Many a true word said in jest and all that…
  4. Listing out the key failings: -failure to sign a striker for Ralph -the continued obsession with buying kids off the yop schemes and not going for experience in key positions (especially GK) -manager, RH ran out of road at the end of last season and looked a broken spirit. Should have gone then. - The Nathan Jones gamble. - Rasmus dumping his philosophy on the club.
  5. For me our failure is explained in one word - recruitment. That applies to both playing squad, and managerial (including coaching) appointments.
  6. Probably. Potter is the likely to be the 'biggest name' we're linked with towards the end of the season. I don't see the attraction of Marsch but he might appeal to Ankersen. Of the other two, Rosenior has been at Hull since November,so that would be more of an outlandish gamble than Jones. Schumaker will be linked to every championship job going.
  7. Poch had a team that were capable of winning a trophy though. I don't think Ralph, or Hughes for that matter, had that luxury.
  8. Although I’ve not been a fan of his in the past, I’ve come round to thinking Rodgers would be a good appointment for us. Unlikely to happen though as he’s bound to wait until Spurs, West Ham jobs are filled before lowering his sights. Also, you’d expect his and Rasmus to be a clash of egos.
  9. I thought it was £1.5, although there may have been add ons depending how he develops.
  10. I thought so as well. Always thought he did a good job covering Saints at the time.
  11. I don’t think Lowe was here when Merrington left. It seemed that Souness was brought in to make us more attractive to investors by the then board.
  12. I know it’s been covered previously on here, but it was remarkable that Dave Merrington retained affection for the club after the way he was dismissed.
  13. Okay, I give up.... who will it be ?
  14. Probably not by Ken Bailey though.
  15. I remember he even openly admitted this when being interviewed pitchside at half time during a Saints v NLY fixture at St Mary’s.
  16. Shearer has always given Saints a warm review when I’ve heard him. Of course he has been critical of them at times, especially the defending, but that’s not surprising and when he does , it doesn’t come across that he’s taking pleasure in it (unlike Townsend). I’ve also heard him lay into Newcastle when they were an ordinary team without money.
  17. Pleased for them, glad to hear of some success at the club. Providing the women and Goztepe are going well Martin and Rasmus can point to a successful season.
  18. Was definitely a Wesley Hoedt moment with him slipping on his arse at a critical time. Mind you, I find it a little unfair criticising a young ABK, when Salisu seems to have gone awol (was it said he wasn’t motivated the other week, and is that still the case, or has he now got an ‘injury’ to contend with ?).
  19. Yeh, why not ? Bournemouth on an end of season slump… and not motivated … Followed by Geordies who’ve just used up their goal quota for April already. Six points. Piece of piss. Not to be taken literally. (MLG point - I realise no such thing as goal quotas , and that AFCB still have safety to play for).
  20. Adam Armstrong, lone striker then
  21. Thinks that’s the ideal we’d all like to see. Does such a candidate in terms of Gravitas realistically exist though ? Potter has been touted on here, but not sure the ‘name’ and style will be enough to persuade the better players their careers will be best served by staying. Same for Cooper. Probably right that Rasmus will make an ‘alternative’ appointment, that only he can see the merit in.
  22. Interesting thought. I think we’ve all realised from early season that he’d be unlikely to stay, and could be off as soon as after one season. Although a great talent, I’m a little wary of how he needs to be protected and how many games (EPL or Championship) w could rely on him for. I’m resigned to him going at the end of the season, anything else would be a major surprise. (Just hope we spend anything wisely …. That’s not a given!!). Probably alone in this but if we go down I’d be more concerned over keeping Alcarez to be honest (accepting that RL will be on his way).
  23. IF , he remains here
  24. If Selles keeps us up - which I’m not expecting- then the club are in a bit of a ‘Mark Hughes dilemma’ of ‘well, he deserves it ‘ ….. and unfortunately this will soon become ‘review it in October’ moveable feast. Not just who is available, but who would be interested, irrespective of which division we’re in. Poch and Nagellsman are currently available, but you’d hope Rasmus and Semmens (or Willcox) don’t factor them into the options when coming to a decision.
  25. Preferable to ‘Bompey’ , surely ?
