Would Joe Shields have been responsible for identifying and appointing a manager ? I certainly didn’t read his role that way, only player recruitment.

Fact is we’ve got to pin our hope on Wilcox doing a good job for us as we already know what a clusterfuck Rasmus is capable of making. Agree about Vieira although not convinced as his track record as head coach/manager is pretty indifferent and it seems he’s still trading on his reputation as a player.

Potter is probably the most ambitious target and name that we might be interested in that is remotely realistic. But he’ll probably want to see the EPL jobs closed off to him first after we go down. Although Leicester might also go down, I suspect they or Leeds in the Championship would be more appealing than us as the clubs seem to be more stable in the background.

Or perhaps this Irfan chap goes to Goztepe. They are the bigger club after all Just read he’s from Goztpe. So perhaps we take some of their cast offs.

Providing he doesn’t behave like Lallana in the second week of June and has a public strop about Rasmus/Semmens/Wilcox/ whoever not answering his phone call .., then I agree with you. Can’t see JWP stooping to such a level. Or ever wearing a hair band. Or advertising Nivea for that matter.

He even managed it in slow motion so they didn’t have to slow it down when showing it.

Wilder didn’t get things going at Middlesbrough and was sacked, and looks like getting the boot from Watford. I know you could say Watford is a ‘basket case’ and all managers have a short shelf life there, but didn’t people say the same about Stoke and Jones ? All in all, I think Wilder might be one to avoid.

That’s a good and interesting point. I think Burnley have exploited that route to their advantage quite well. Forest also in the year they were promoted. So much so that they had a depleted squad after everyone went back to their own clubs ( but they then replaced them all multiple times over).

I thought Palace had been quite active in the transfer market in his time there. Didn’t he have the opportunity to really rebuild the squad on arrival (bit like Koeman in 2014)?

‘Rumour’ from a questionable source it seems. But would seem premature to consider a coaching role for anyone without first knowing the manager. Although with our management judging on this season, we are likely to do things ‘arse about face’ . But don’t believe it.

Agree it will be good to get rid of some of the plastics and day trippers, Trouble with the chants is that very few of the players really stand out to sing about. LI and Championship before we had the likes of Fonte, Lambert etc.

I remember reading something similar about Poch and his backroom team. In hindsight, we should have offered Erwin Koeman the job when his brother decided to walk.

Leicester like taking some of our 'star' players. Would fit in well with Vestergaard. Although the fixation with recruiting from us may have changed with Rodgers going.

Not totally convinced, but HarvSFC gives a decent write up, and makes a good case. Big question though, why would he come to us from Ipswich ? Probably similar size club, they're on a bit of an upward trajectory with some momentum behind them (as we were after L1). They've also probably got a more stable ownership, and no Rasmus to get on his tits with spreadsheets.
