More surprising is that the club are selling this yellow kit ( I thought it was earlier than 91-93). https://store.saintsfc.co.uk/Product/ProductItem?id=0000-17546 Recollection was that we only wore this about twice and it wasn't sold at the time.

And don't forget Toby. Les was relaxed about that , until "legal people" got involved.

Don't think his ego would let him "repent", how may chances do you give him ? I think he should be filed along with Osvaldo as an expensive egotistical flop. This sums it up for me. Clearly the "black box" did it's homework on attitude when bringing him in, or did Les switch that particular filter off. Think the club would be delighted at taking £12-15m for him too, but can't see anyone offering that for him.

We certainly dodged a bullet there.

Thought I'd park this here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51392691 Suggestions of the window going back to keeping in line with Europe and the end of August rather than the start of the season. So looks as if we might have to stretch the thread out until 31st August before accepting no one of note is coming in.

Jacob Maddox on loan with view to permanent signing in summer

Further evidence, if needed, on the legacy of Les. -
Is it too early to start the January 2021 thread ?

Probably be announced just after the Five Pledges.

If only...

Agree about Cedric, although he was going to leave in the summer whatever I'd rather have kept him for the remainder of the season. A couple of places higher in the league, or a stage further in the FA Cup would have justified his salary for the next few months. As for the Central Defence, I'd rather have a capable when called upon 3rd and 4th choice irrespective of age. Imagine going into the FA Cup semi-final with Stephens injured, and Bednarek suspended. That'll leave us with Vestergaard and who ? Danso? As for LB should be looking for a player capable of first choice rather than a fill in.

But in the world of youtube, Steve De Ridder is also a world beater... -

Perhaps he's the new Jacob Mellis who was also signed, albeit on loan, from Chelsea. -
In fairness they have toned down the bluster this year. No 'suggestions'/hints/leaks/or just media speculation even of a Promes, Walcott or similar.
-
For the suggested £5m I'd have kept him until the end of the season with the £2m per place up for grabs. Instead we go into the next 14 games (plus cup ties perhaps) without an experienced or regular RB, and little cover at LB. But lets pin our hopes on a bloke who has made about 20 appearances for Spurs in the league and is deemed their 4th choice RB.

This is how Gaonomics work.

No one does their transfer dealings with the same degree of secrecy and discretion as West Ham.

Preferably from ones that are also fit to play from the time they join rather spending the first month undergoing rehabilitation. And one that isn't a shortar$e.

And to think Leipzig were rumoured to want £35m for him in the summer...

Not keen on signing a spurs cast off. Can't recall a signing from them that has worked out, Paul Allen had a few good games under Alan Ball but ended up going out on aloan then a free, David Howells, Fourpast, and long ago Frank Saul. Maehle seemed to ahve something about him, shame taht hasn't been pursued if we've suddenly got £15m out of Gao's piggy bank. Surprised we're not looking at Augustin given his time with RH at Leipzig, although he certainly hasn't pulled up any trees on his current loan.

Gecko - always contributed something imaginative when any discussion was held about the change of team strip, or club crest. His offerings were always better than the strip the club eventually announced.
