  1. Headbutted the back of Alun Evans head v Liverpool at the Dell c 1970. Legendary. Alun Evans was a blonde ponce but from this Shankly coined the phrase Alehouse footballers. Several candidates for best foul must have been committed that season, Jimmy Gabriel, Hugh Fisher and Brian O'Neil amongst the contenders I'm sure.
  2. Read that at first as David James.
  3. and Bobby Stokes.
  4. No sulking, but a couple of comments - possibly quoted on here - over performance and lack of pace. Bit surprising as some of clips seen he looks to have a decent presence and some skill (albeit in the Championship). At £5m though, probably worth a punt.
  5. Think he might have fallen out of favour there with the manager after the Villa debacle. Not sure about this though, highly rated 12 months ago but have read some damning comments from last season.
  6. Now you mention it, I recall that being put on here. If we're solely looking at signing Saints supporters then perhaps its return of Andrew Surman and Wayne Bridge coming out of retirement.
  7. Saw this earlier. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/cricket/hampshire_cricket/17682145.ex-hants-cricketer-iain-brunnschweiler-is-back-at-southampton-fc/ Looks like someone coaching the coaches.
  8. ... along with Sam Vokes, one of the great Saints supporters never to have played for us after being linked on here year after year.
  9. Might also be a refection on those promoting him. I remember when we were first linked with him the story was that Les had identified him. That being the case we should have every confidence that he will be a resounding success. When did Les Reed's recruitment ever let us down?
  10. Wonder if that could be a trade off involving one of their players we were supposedly interested in ( with some £ going their way as well).
  11. Nice bit of nostalgia there SOG, hope you find the info you're looking for. Can't help about the cricket etc, but if its The Albany off The Avenue then I think it closed mid-late 1980's. It used to be one of our meeting and parking points before matches from time to time. Nice to see it referred to as Whitsun as well.
  12. As we did with Mepham. Quite alarming if we are being left behind Bournemouth in the transfer stakes. On the other hand this bloke could be another Bialkowski.
  13. Last night was probably as good an outcome as we could have wished for. The North London Yobbos lose, their fans don't get anything to get even gobbier about than they already are. Most scousers wanted the League title which they didn't get. Liverpool win it low key fashion involving a debatable penalty in a poor game. This won't be remembered as one of those "special European nights... " forever more. They've won it five times before so are no more insufferable than they already are. Shame VD got a winners medal, but as much of a c^nt as he is, you can't deny his talent . Amusing to see Oxlade -Chamberlain's ugly mug in the press celebrating as his contribution was f^ck all. No doubt Nivea will dine out on being an integral part of it as well.
  14. Hardly an area we can take the p!ss.
  15. Ralph K also promised Gao's Five Pledges would be available in February. I think that may have been in February 2018. This is not to suggest Ralph deliberately misled anyone but when you consider his sources for such information were probably Gao himself and the ever reliable Les Reed I'm not sure we should take this as gospel.
  16. Did Reed negotiate any extra ££ in the event of Lolvren, Nivea, Mane or VD winning the CL ? Probably not, but might offer some crumb of comfort.
  17. Club hedging their bets in anticipation of LD Sports not being around too long.
  18. In the same way Sadio Mane did ? I know what you mean but they do sell elsewhere.
  19. Isn't that an umlaut over the 'o' ?
  20. Although the official line was that the yanks didn't want to sell. I've not read anything about insufficient funds but would be pleased to see it. Probably not in the Micky Fialka (or whatever his name was) pauper state either though.
  21. My initial thought also, although he had a pretty good defence in front of him at one time.
  22. Although our hand was weakened to some degree by MP's publicly taking the "no deal off the table".
  23. This is where I expected to end up three years ago but we've allowed the EU to set the agenda in that time by progressing through the divorce arrangements etc. But not sure the EFTA/EEA would resolve the Irish border issue so it could be some years coming to this agreement.
