  1. Once upon a time - Terry Venables as manager, DoF, or in any other capacity.
  2. Is it too early to start the January 2021 thread ?
  3. Hard to disagree with any of the player names mentioned so far, Zaha, Firmino and his display of dazzling white gnashers in particular. Got to add Wayne Rooney to the list.
  4. Probably be announced just after the Five Pledges.
  5. Agree about Cedric, although he was going to leave in the summer whatever I'd rather have kept him for the remainder of the season. A couple of places higher in the league, or a stage further in the FA Cup would have justified his salary for the next few months. As for the Central Defence, I'd rather have a capable when called upon 3rd and 4th choice irrespective of age. Imagine going into the FA Cup semi-final with Stephens injured, and Bednarek suspended. That'll leave us with Vestergaard and who ? Danso? As for LB should be looking for a player capable of first choice rather than a fill in.
  6. But in the world of youtube, Steve De Ridder is also a world beater...
  7. Perhaps he's the new Jacob Mellis who was also signed, albeit on loan, from Chelsea.
  8. In fairness they have toned down the bluster this year. No 'suggestions'/hints/leaks/or just media speculation even of a Promes, Walcott or similar.
  9. For the suggested £5m I'd have kept him until the end of the season with the £2m per place up for grabs. Instead we go into the next 14 games (plus cup ties perhaps) without an experienced or regular RB, and little cover at LB. But lets pin our hopes on a bloke who has made about 20 appearances for Spurs in the league and is deemed their 4th choice RB.
  10. This is how Gaonomics work.
  11. No one does their transfer dealings with the same degree of secrecy and discretion as West Ham.
  12. Preferably from ones that are also fit to play from the time they join rather spending the first month undergoing rehabilitation. And one that isn't a shortar$e.
  13. And to think Leipzig were rumoured to want £35m for him in the summer...
  14. Police
  15. Not keen on signing a spurs cast off. Can't recall a signing from them that has worked out, Paul Allen had a few good games under Alan Ball but ended up going out on aloan then a free, David Howells, Fourpast, and long ago Frank Saul. Maehle seemed to ahve something about him, shame taht hasn't been pursued if we've suddenly got £15m out of Gao's piggy bank. Surprised we're not looking at Augustin given his time with RH at Leipzig, although he certainly hasn't pulled up any trees on his current loan.
  16. Gecko - always contributed something imaginative when any discussion was held about the change of team strip, or club crest. His offerings were always better than the strip the club eventually announced.

    Che Adams

Wonder if this, featured just after the Adams article could have a bearing on our decision: Personally, I'd be happy to keep Adams rather than rely on Leeds to buy him on condition of promotion.
  18. John McGrath and the Liverpool team was another good one, including banging the head of Alun Evans which gave rise to Shankly's Alehouse jibe.
  19. I remember my first Saints v Man City game c 1969/70 and was surprised by the abuse that was directed at Summerbee from the first minute. Always wondered what sparked that, understood from older relatives that Summerbee was known to like 'dishing it out' but couldn't take it. Was there a specific incident that started this ?
  20. He's gone to meet his maker... Was part of a comedy team that brought many of us great amusement and memories from the 1970's. Sad to hear of his passing.
  21. Didn't Oakley also post in orange, and begin every post with "Oakley thinks... "
  22. Ottery seemed a good bloke and poster on the forum , but vanished from here in 2014.
  23. Paraphrasing of an 70's group, it sounds as if its a case of Dodgynessabounds.
  24. Two great shots. Delighted by the result, especially after Saturday's result. Watched the highlights, and despite the results I'm in shock with Vestergaards giveaway before we scored, thankfully Tosun is equally crap, and Long's timid and feeble effort (at 2-0 up) that could ahve put the game out of reach. Great result, but still a mistake to think the squad is good enough. Pleased to see a clip of Zaha clearly still wound up by JWP, their feud from last season appears to be ongoing.
