Director of Football Operations Replacement Thread
Badger replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
From what I recall reading a couple of weeks ago the 'intention' appeared to be not only a new DoF but also an overhaul of the coaching set up that would take place within the international break. The expectation was that the new coaches would be in position this week, yet we're preparing for the Arsenal match with Kelvin & Watson still assisting Ralph. -
Looks like the Hong Kong branch of the WTP Appreciation Society is taking a bit of a kicking tonight after a sit in at a University.

I would, as he's just taken a role at Dundee. Plus it wouldn't fit in with the 'Ralph is happy and on board with the appointment' part of the rumour. -

what's the old song : "...tomorrow, tomorrow ... " -
Do you have an identikit profile of the earlobes for either ?
-
Where did his "concussion" come from yesterday to rule him out ?

This seems to be what we now do best, bring players in and coach them so their form and careers go on a rapid downward spiral. As for the selection of full backs, that seems to be down to events, Betrand suspended, Hojberg injured (apparently), so moving Cedric to LB (I thought he'd previously played there for us although you wouldn't have thought so yesterday). Valery would have been a logical RB but has been crap this season, so JWP or Armstrong for the role.

First I've read of that, where does the suggestion come from ?

Any updates on the availability to park here ? Recall last season a few people were ticketed.

So how many are going dressed as Winnie the Pooh today ? Or taking Tibet, or Hong Kong Flags ?

Seems a recurring theme here, we do seem to attract them don't we ? (Owners, dubious sponsors, and now this ).
-
Can you see our fans doing something as coordinated as that though ?

Now you've made me feel old, realising I was at the Fratton cup tie, and Highbury semi-final the year you were born

Danny Butterfield is now avaialble again having been sacked in a clear out at MK Dons. Wasn't he highly rated as a coach here with the U23's or lower age group ?

Why should we be concerned if Scotland leaves the Union
Badger replied to OldNick's topic in The Lounge
There was certainly mention that there would be obstacles to joining and that it shouldn't be taken for granted. At the time Spain in particular were seen as obstructive as they didn't want Catalonia thinking they too could go it alone and join the EU. But times have changed, and in the event of Brexit if it ever happens I suspect Barnier and co will be more receptive to Scotland joining the EU, if only to p!ss England off. This could throw up a further and greater border issue than N Ireland. -
Tend to agree. Ralph's stock will have fallen this season given our position and performances. There was a mention on the BBC Gossip page in the last couple of weeks that Mourinho was linked with the Bayern job.

An opening for Ralph ? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50284272 On current showing I doubt he'd be in the running although depends on the reputation he's carved out for himself in Germany. (Reunion with Danny Rohl !)

Plus in the "one for the future" camp rather than the 'need for now'. If there's any truth in it.

Thinking of names from the past, anyone know what became of Andy Oldknow (Oldknough ? can't recall the spelling) ? He was at the the club briefly pre Administration before Lowe came back and then arrived with Cortese although left after a couple of months as NC took over more running of the club. -
Plus the similar amount on Vestergaard.

Either of these two or Dave Jones and we might as well give up for the next couple of years. I still suspect the Everton bloke who came in earlier in the year being elevated to the role. -

I can't see that happening, we were the high spot in an unremarkable managerial career, and I don't think he can point to an track record of signings here or elsewhere. Story strikes me as a crock of sh!t. The heading leads with the line that Jones wants to return as Sporting Director; I'm sure he would but doubtful that we'd share the enthusiasm. We couldn't be that daft could we ? Didn't Jones enjoy a good relationship with the Mail after his trial when he told the story of how Lowe visited the family to go on gardening leave ? Perhaps he has retained a contact there to float his name in such a fashion.
