    Shane Long

Funny, but on reading the news on this my immediate thoughts were he's a cross between Ormerod and David Speedie. Seem ro recall he was the pr1ck who went down clutching his face to get Ramirez sent off v WBA (after tugging his shirt for the previous 20 yards) then got up without a mark on it. We could probably buy Ings for £8m and at least he brings some potential and goal threat.£12m for Long, if true, is excessive. Perhaps we've realised we can't entice the big players we wanted, so Plan B, lets act big and spend £12m on a journeyman player. Happy to be surprised and proved wrong.
  2. Yes, think it was an Easter Monday fixture.
  3. Yep, I'm hoping they've found one,and he develops into a player more of the Lovren standard than Liptak.
  4. Then we have to disagree on that point then.
  5. Agree. Yoshida seems to make some mistake every game. He is always a 'mistake away' from a balls up, which is marginally better than Jos just having an own goal just around the corner I suppose.
  6. I'm sure he is, but more importantly is he good enough back up for Fonte or Gardos if he joins ?
  7. There you go, presumably SSN and SS News are the same?
  8. On another thread, someone says SSN reported that we've given up on Byram and Rojo.
  9. Excellent, someone else who supports my version of events, and gives me hope it wasn't senility setting in. Definitely at the Archers Rd end as well where he hit the post.
  10. Alan Ball.
  11. Yes - last season I think.
  12. Yes - in the 1980's.
  13. Some supporters on that footage will be seriously embarrassed by their hairstyles and fashion of the day ! That game v Spurs was a bit of an anti-climax really, as we'd secured promotion midweek at Orient ( at the time proud to say I was there when the wall collapsed). Would have been good to go up as champions, and deprive spurs of promotion at the same time. Didn't particularly like spurs then, and nothing has changed since. I thought Funnell hit the post in the first half rather than late on.
  14. Yes, at the time it seemed very strange to sell him as I think we had high expectations that he'd make it in Division One. There was a rumour that he left after being involved in a car accident and losing a bit of the desire to stay down south. Great shame as his career went nowhere after he left. On the other hand it may be that Lawrie did not think he'd cut it in the first division. Tony Funnell was another one who did the job asked of him, then disappeared off the scene.
  15. Is this the first sign of a sulk coming on ?
  16. thanks for that, always interesting to read the view from the former club.
  17. RK looking a little more dapper than Poch used to.
  18. Is the Bayer CB we were linked to earlier in the week, Wollscheid, playing for them today?
  19. & Matt Oakley playing.
  20. Who is Joe Batchelor ?
  21. Perhaps he's already demanded a move

    Marcos Rojo

Not necessarily that easy, we can convince Sporting/owners to sell, but then have to convince player of our ambition and why joining would be a good move for him.

    Marcos Rojo

Three at the back ? Add in the fact Gardos style might earn him a few suspensions as well. Despite what many state about Rojo, and the signing of Bertrand I could see Rojo ending up at LB for a few games as well.
  24. I'd suggest: We shouldnt let him go unless the offer is stonking and someone other than Spurs pay top price
