Adkins has a good track record of working with and improving strikers. At Sc^nthorpe he had Sharp & Keogh initially (although signed by his predecesssor I think) and then brought in Patterson, and then Hooper both of whom were then sold on. Hooper was signed for £200,000 and sold for £2m.

Not if we have made bids of £4.5m and £2m for others first.

Good analogy. I'm sure that the Puncheon issue was closely involved in the farting around on this deal for 3 weeks, although in the end it was other factors, as per Latvian posters comments from Gorkss that we were seeking another option. Shame that it took too long to resolve in my view, but doubt 3 cweeks are down to us. Yes, Warnock is a c^nt, of that there is no doubt. Whilst I like Cortese, I share your concern that we do appear to unnecessarily ruffle a few feathers in our dealings. We have even managed to p!ss Eastleigh off. Some may say who cares, who are they, why should we be bothered, but the next time they have an Aarron Martin on their books I would rather they assist him coming to us, rather than elsewhere.Remember the old adage "be careful who you upset on the way up, you might meet them again on the way down".

Anyone else think Burnley might be holding out for a larger bid from a Prem club, and if it does not materialise by 31st August , then £4.5m might seem a bit more attractive to them ?
-
Which discounts Fontaine and Robinson in my view. Either that or we don't have someone better in the pipeline, and are starting our search again.
-
Highly rated, and currently considered a good prospect , but why is he considered such a good potential signing ? I did not see anything remarkable last season at St Mary's despite his goal. I'm not doubting your opinion btw, just intrigued as to what he offers, at 5'7" he certainly won't be challenging RL for a place, but joining several who might partner him up front.
-
Yes, good suggestion. In many ways he might be better option for us than Baldock as Rhodes could also play the Rickie role to rest RL etc.
-
Ditto. I fear this is a 'signing' we have lost out on and will regret. I'm not convinced by Warnock laying the 3week delay on us,as I expect the Puncheon issue had a bearing at their end.
-
Interesting comparison. When I read about Waghorn he reminded me of another former Saint when he signed for us, Gordon Watson, as he seems a similar build and style of play.
-
Agree, and I think this was the role they had in mind for Rodriguez who might both play alongside, and instead of RL, probably grooming him to be RL's replacement in a couple of years or when we reach the Prem. Short term, I suspect Guly may be played up front when RL is not available or rested.
-
No - providing NA believes the player has the ability to meet that expectation, won't upset the spirit on the bus, and also that they can't sign the same 'prospect' for £3m or less.
-
You wonder about where and how they batter Mars bars up there don't you?
-
Perhaps Baldock has decided just to sleep on it.
-
probably the only reason we bought him.
-
Do we still do our announcements at 2325hrs ? If so...may be soon.
-
True, but if the player/his agent are aware of another interest, esp from WHU they will want to speak with them.
-
But a straight choice for the player, us or the Hammers ?
-
Who knows, they may even be prepared to take him back ?
-
He looks the proverbial 'mutt's nuts' in that video compilation. And,on the grounds that he looks less like one of the Millibands than Baldock, then we should sign Djordevic.
-
I would not want to release either at this stage frankly. LB remains a cult hero, and his case aside, I think he can make an impact still. Dickson has as much to offer as Harding, moreso going forward, and could play LM if required. Won't they take Holmes and Forecast ?
-
My recollection was in the box, after defenders/midfield allowed him too much time/space and it took a deflection. (Good job you and I are not being called to give evidence of a hit and run isn't it ?)
-
Any more than £2m is excessive, otherwise a better value deal than many suggested at £6m or even Sharp at £3.2m. Hope Dickson is not released.
