  1. I can not believe that Pearce will get anywhere near the top job, after the McLaren fiasco even the dullards at the FA are not daft enough to appoint someone like Pearce. He can barely string a sentence together and his managerial experience is f^ck all. Pearce was appointed to the U21's in recollection of the chest thumping image he had,as a fop to those complaining about Crappello, and another bloody foreigner etc.
  2. Definitely. Gorkss was ideally suited to play alongside Fonte; Fontaine as more of a ball playing CB was not. Hope we have another good - or better -option available.
  3. Inclined to agree,as not convinced he is a significant step up from our current options. Great shame that an ideal option might have been Hobbs who has now gone to Hull.
  4. Yes, he has been mentioned, and his side - Genk- also qualified for Champions league last night. So at first sight the CL with Genk or Championship in England might be a difficult choice.
  5. Depends entirely on who we bring in and how they perform. Personally I think Gorkss was an ideal opportunity to bolster our defence with someone "proven".
  6. Or a missed option...
  7. Derby also rumoured to be after Waghorn although they are short of cash
  8. Not the Jaidi clone we were hoping for then.
  9. Hope you are right although the latest posts on the Fontaine thread suggest this deal is moving forward. Personally, I think it is a mistake to miss out on Gorkss who meets all the criteria for a CB to go alongside Fonte. I hope we can do better than Fontaine.
  10. He plays for Gent (I assume Ghent as we would call it) not Genk.
  11. Telegraph
  12. Possibly why he might want to move to Brighton.
  13. It's Pique we're after.
  14. I think we should be told, it could affect morale in the dressing room.
  15. My recollection also. I think he brought in a group of ex-Liverpool hacks, all of whom p!ssed off after Souness had thrown a wobbly, then resigned from the poolside whilst on holiday.
  16. I've looked again, and can confirm it is definitely not Mick Channon, MLT, Princess Anne, or Lucy Pinder.
  17. Is that the title of his autobiography ?
  18. on the contrary, he managed to con his way into a mega-paid job where he attended the "workplace" once a week. The real 'daft bastard' is the one who fell for his ridiculous vision and sanctioned putting him/both of them on the payroll.
  19. Or it could be the difference between automatic and play offs, depending how the season pans out. As for the strength in depth issue - often mentioned on here- yes, I follow the argument, but do you think other clubs have greater playing resources available to them in this division ? West Ham aside, I doubt many clubs in the promotion mix will.
  20. Except that we might be forced to use him, although I assume we have other GK's in the Academy squads who might prove more reliable.
  21. I agree that a proven CB,and a striker are the immediate areas to add to, but the right back position remains a concern to me. I'm not convinced that either FR or DB are up to the standard of the rest of the team, and this remains an area of weakness ( especially as they get minimal 'protection' from the attack minded wide midfielders).
  22. Yes, if he is drawing wages from the club then we should all care. That money could be better spent elsewhere, or given to a worthwhile charity...the club might even offset it against tax. As a serious point though, can we invoke the "emergency loan" for a GK if at the time we still have a third choice fit and available to us ?
  23. Agree, although with the strength of our squad, there is no guarentee they would lose!
  24. Gorkss, yes agreed. Beckford on the other hand was regarded as a sulking bastard at Leeds, and I can't see him keeping the harmony in the squad - and momentum- going, quite the contrary.
