No thats boring. Surely there is a 'player's wife' scandal to be circulated about his departure.

Aren't all students 'poor' whilst studying ? I don't understand this obsession about students from poorer backgrounds - if this is your area of concern- frankly. If their education is going to enhance their earning potential as it is argued, they will be in the same position to repay their student loans,as those from other backgrounds. Why make such an issue of it ?

Tell them Father Christmas was mugged by a couple of skates coming through Paulsgrove. Actually share the op's annoyance as this time last year we had to buy a medium boys away shirt rather than a lb which was the preferred size.,we were told pre christmas "oh we might get some more in in January, you might be able to change it"...Come January the line had changed to no we won't be getting any more in. Fortunately the mb is not a bad fit,but the lb might have got an extra season or more out of it.

My understanding also.

I'm still intrigued by the Liebherr's continued commitment to Saints, which I hope continues despite the reference to others taking over the mantle if necessary. Do they still attend many matches?

Rubbish. This was overplayed by the media at the time, and continues to be. It was a poor header, weak and without real direction. Davies or Beattie, possibly an inform Lambert would have burried it. I accept heading was not really one of Waigo's strengths but lets not overplay James save. As for PW,I'd have him back in a shot.

I have tried finding the picture of Barry the Briefcase to complete the thread. Unable to find the original but after much googling it appears his "fame" is such that he has been immortalised in Lego : Also here is a mock up found after it was suggested he might be involved with an Indian consortium : (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY ALEHOUSEBOY APRIL 2009)

Good choice for them. -
Come on,no serious investment is complete without Barry the Briefcase.

Is Hilda the one who comes to matches with her hair in rollers, covered with an SFC headsquare, and a cigarette dangling out one corner of her mouth ? If so,I believe you.

How is Paul Allen these days ?

Lets not forget that before the appointment of Adkins,NC is meant to have had a meeting with The Sun to improve relationships with them. So whilst still an unreliable daily rag,the paper has had a thawing of relationship with the club, and may be a little closer to hearing a whisper than before. Personally, just hope it is not true.

Does an advertisment seeking "attractive blonde Maria Sharapova lookalike" not contravene discrimination,or equality law ?

I expect they will be happy to play for nothing then.Just the usual "image rights".

Don't be a c^nt,I can't see Keane playing alongside Michael Owen,or Carsten Jancker in our attack in Jaanuary.

As for "stranger things have happened", Simon Clifford and a World Cup winning rugby coach must be pretty high up on the list.

Could be the best midfielder at the club bar none, providing he does not spend too much time in the treatment room.

"Fans Love Players like Puncheon... who take people on...."
Badger replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Some years ago - maybe it has changed- but a relative who was a season ticket holder at Wolves said he was always impressed with the Saints crowd and that they did not get on the back of players all too easily. Young players in particular were also given a bit more tolerance with Saints than when they started than at Wolves where they would soon get a torrid time. This however was in the days of The Dell so perhaps that tells its own story. As for "scapegoats",Bally did I'm afraid have a few detractors in the weeks before he retired. Lew Chatterley was seen as being the epitome of this new blokes regime, having taken Ted Bates team down in half a season and then struggling to make an impact in the Second Division despite still having Channon and Osgood.Ian Turner who displaced Eric Martin was also none too popular. Both having been brought down here by the new bloke from a lower division club. Hugh Fisher also took a lot of stick for a while. -
Some of my older relations often spoke highly of Derek Reeves, and also George O'Brien.

Thanks Deppo, and Manji . I was at the 1981 game but was hoping one of our more seasoned followers might give a personal recollection of the 1960 match. Your contributions though are similarly valued.
