Nobody is have a ****ing contest. People are discussing various aspects of the situation & the Government’s response to it. Get off your high horse, thousands upon thousands of people die each winter, that shouldn’t stop legitimate debate. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

That’s the way we record flu deaths. If someone dies of cancer, or another serious disease, this is recorded as the cause of death, even if the final illness was flu. Because Covid is a notifiable disease that’s what goes down as the cause if they’ve tested positive. The effect is the UK historically underreport flu deaths and could now be over reporting Covid deaths. The real impact can be seen when total deaths for the year is looked at, a big spike in that will indicate people dying of Covid, that wouldn’t have died of seasonal illness, old age, or their existing health condition.
-
That doesn’t address the fact that if you’re not testing everyone, you can’t establish a true rate. That might be the % of people who test positive & then subsequently die, but how do you count the numbers who recover without reporting it, or even those that have had it without realising? You’re also not addressing the point regarding people with undiagnosed underlying health conditions. When so many people are dying in such a short space of time, I doubt their conducting PM’s to establish whether there were any. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Death rates are dependant on too many factors to draw many conclusions at this moment in time. Reporting isn’t standardised and clearly the numbers you test affect the %. There’s a clear difference between people who die of the virus and people who die with the virus. The press reporting all these deaths and statistics is just frightening people and it’s irresponsible imo. People get scared if youngsters die, or middle aged people with no underlying condition, but is that reflective? My snap dragon had a conversation with a senior consultant at her work who made the point that many people may die with an undiagnosed underlying health condition, which will get reported as no underlying health condition. For example, If Fabrice Muamba caught and died of Coronavirus a month before the incident on the pitch, it would be a young man dying of the virus, with no underlying health condition. I’m not suggesting things get covered up, but there’s context to everything. I wouldn’t mind betting that as tragic as it’ll be, 99.9% of deaths will be the elderly, infirm, and the seriously ill. Unfortunately too many people want to score political points. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I would play them as a straight knock out midweek tournament, like the European cup used to be. At the end of the day, something has to give. Personally, I’d rather it was internationals than domestic games. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You’ve misunderstood. The World Cup remains in place, but that time will be the end of season as opposed to the middle. 2019/20 season ends Nov ‘20 2020/21 season Feb ‘21-Oct ‘21 21/22 season Feb ‘22- Oct ‘22 followed by World Cup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I think they’ll do everything possible to complete the season, even if it is Oct/Nov. They could even temporarily adjust the subsequent seasons with the Qatar World Cup being at the end of the 21/22 season instead of the middle of the 22/23 season. They could then gradually bring the seasons back in line over 3 or 4 years. They may not even want to, personally I wouldn’t be against trying summer football for the top level. Going to games in June/July is far more appealing than Jan/Feb to me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Nothing is fair until every side plays everybody home & away. Villa have games in hand, we lost 9-0 to Leicester (affecting our goal difference badly) but teams won’t play City or Liverpool twice, which are games they could conceivably lose 5 or 6. Liverpool could win the league but only have the 4th or 5th best record in the new season. There’s only 2 outcomes that are fair, & will keep the lawyers out of it, void or finish. Some labour people are showing class. For all Corbyns “ I was right “ pony, and interviewers desperate scramble for their gotcha moment, Burnham seems more in touch with the public than most of labour. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Thanks again, this was what my daughter was told. Looks like she may fall between the gaps. Her dentist boss can only do emergency work (advised by government) so his income is significantly down, yet at the moment he doesn’t seem to be able to furlough her, so will have to lay her off. Gove should be in charge imo, despite being a pinko he’s the most competent cabinet member by a country mile. *if Boris is unfit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You seem like a bit of an expert, maybe you could help my daughter. She works for a dentist that does private & NHS work. He’s been advised by government to stay open for emergencies only. Therefore his income will be down and he’s only keeping on a skeleton team. He doesn’t want to lay her off, but can’t afford her wages. He thinks that the furlough scheme doesn’t cover him because he does NHS work. Is this correct. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The less cars on the road, the less traffic accidents. Serious ones involve ambulance, police and other services which are needed elsewhere, minor ones involve contact with other people, maybe tow trucks coming out. Calls to working at home insurance call centres. Your bloke driving home from a remote spot, my go into the back of a nurse on her way home, as a result she may not have a car for a while, may have whiplash, may have contact with the tow truck driver. The advice is simple, only drive your car if absolutely necessary. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Anyone on here actually on the Furlough scheme? We’re having to take A/L, Lieu time or unpaid leave at the moment as the big bosses claim the 80% scheme is more complicated than it looks. Maybe it’s because it’s a European company, or maybe because some people can work at home. There’s also a rumour that as furlough is the alternative to redundancy, they’re worried that people who actually want redundancy are legally entitled to take it, costing the company money they can ill afford. It’s caused quite a bit of bad feeling, but they’ve asked us to bare with them for 2 weeks whilst they look into it. I’m not too bad because I do loads of extra hours for **** all so will make up AL taken with lieu, but some of my guys cant. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

****ing hell. 3.28 million Americans lost their job last week. Doesn’t include self employed. BBC have just said that’s more jobs than were lost in the 2 years following the recent crash, and nearly a quarter of the total jobs lost during the whole of the Great Depression. In one ****ing week!!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Plenty of gaps in the scheme. June-Too long, but I guess there maybe some sort of business loan short term. New business- People who’ve set up past 12 months but haven’t filed tax return. Having been made redundant last March, had I invested my pay off into setting up a business, I’d be ****ed. Hopefully they’ll do something for these guys. Clearly the people not paying the correct amount of tax will suffer a hit, but what more could they do. Clearly there will be loads of moaning and complaints, but it’s incredibly complicated. Self employed people are a massive part of a successful capitalist system. My gut feeling from a quick view is a Tory Government should be doing more. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

“Unbelievable” is good on Netflix, watched it the past 3 days. It’s about a bird that gets raped & two dinosaur detectives don’t believe her. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This is one of many issues with the self employed. I was listening to Mike Graham’s show this morning and they had some bird going through it, it is incredibly complicated. She described it as whack a mole. When the Government box away one issue, another one pops up. Someone earning 4K a year cutting people’s hair thought she didn’t have to declare it. Wrong, she did. In the Government’s eyes she earns £0. My brother in law is minted, but through various accounting methods and cash in hand, only takes 20k a year in “wages”. To most reasonable people he should receive 80% of that, however that’ll be a massive drop in his income. To be fair, he won’t be moaning, but they’ll be plenty that will be, especially blokes earning 30k and declaring 20k. Unlike my brother in law they’re not rich and they’re living month to month. It’s unbelievably hard for the Government to address these people. What can they do, take people’s word for it? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Charlie Austin - Sold to West Brom - 4M
Lord Duckhunter replied to Give it to Ron's topic in The Saints
What a ****ing cockwomble. “Austin also revealed that he attended last week’s Cheltenham Festival, where he suspects he contracted the virus, and has been self-isolating from his family since Sunday. The forward also criticised football’s slow response to the outbreak.” He can go to Cheltenham, but football was too slow to react. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

What a weird post. The situation now is entirely different than when I posting glad tidings that the swamp was drained. Today, I couldn’t give a shiny ****e about who is or isn’t in Parliament, couldn’t care less whether we’re in or out of the EU, couldn’t care if Saints are relegated or Portsmouth are crowned champions of Europe season after season. All I care about is my friends & family and the millions of my fellow citizens who are facing a horror completely beyond their comprehension. When this is over, I doubt there’ll be one forum member who hasn’t lost a friend, neighbour or relative. In the middle of all that, to whine about not saying a proper goodbye to their buddies, is hardly comparable to posting about trivial things in normal times. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If everyone was as selfish as your mates, there wouldn’t be any bed space. The beds will be full up with people wanting to bag a bed whilst they’re available. Perhaps your mates could get down the local hospital early doors and put their towels on the spare beds. Don’t your idiot mates understand that there are “normal” winter illness’ that require beds now. If people can avoid needing beds for Coronavirus until the summer, they’d be less strain on the NHS as the “normal” winter crisis will have eased. People are going to die of preventable illness’ because selfish people want to “catch” the virus early. The last bit doesn’t make sense. Why self isolate after recovering from the disease. The eventual policy will be that these people will start getting society back to normal,. Mind you, your mates will probably take a well earned family holiday. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

What a bunch of young ****s interviewed on BBC news. What’s their obsession with kids missing their exams. They interviewed 3 of them moaning that due to the sudden closure “they won’t get chance to say goodbye to their friends” . **** me, some of us oldies won’t get to say goodbye to our parents & siblings. Unlike their buddies, they won’t be round the corner to pop over and see in 12 weeks time , they’ll be 6ft under.....**** me, what a generation we’ve produced.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
