  1. This The only way we'll get a CF is if a long term target suddenly becomes available or we nip in and bag someone we want in the summer ala Austin. We had 3 guys who could play down the middle to suppliant Redmond , Tadic & Boufall. What did people want 4 in case one got injured. Do people really think a club our size should carry 4 " premiership ready" central strikers? 3 is reasonable even allowing for injuries , 2 long term injuries then maybe you need to get a loan or someone in, but not one. Do people really think Reed & co never considered one of our players may have got injured when building the squad. The mistake was probably keeping long or thinking that JRod could get his levels back, however imagine the slagging off they'd get if we'd sold one of them preseason. Clearly it's not a numbers problem, it's shiete finishers that are the problem and I can't see any better finishers being available without paying stupid money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. No it's not. Plenty of pundits have pointed out that Conte's hit the ground running compared to Pep ,because he's got all week to work on his system and drum it into the players. There is no way Chelsea's back 3 would function like it is if they played a midweek game every week. It's not the 1970's with a couple of laps round the pitch, a five a side game , then off for the day . Modern players are drilled , drilled and drilled again . It's absolutely no coincidence that Liverpool's best season came when they didn't have European matches, are doing well now with no European matches and Leicester won the league with no European matches . Do you really think Leicester would have won the league had they been in the Europa league. It is a fact that Puel hasn't had as much time on the training pitch as other managers. It's not even debatable . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Just looked it up. Slightly different rules than Europe . Away goals only count after extra time . That's harder. Once Beer Sheva scored we needed 2 and went to pieces. Under these rules you need 1, then extra 30 mins away at Anfield. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Is that after 90 or ET? I know it sounds really stupid but I can see them pulling back any deficit at their place , even 3 or 4 as they'll play a full side with the crowd behind them. Whilst not particularly wanting to lose , what could beat them is complacency. If Klopp gets caught between seeing the tie out and resting players, we could do a Beer-Shava on them. I know it won't be popular but we need to keep it real tight at home rather than go for it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I've thought this from the day the draw was made. If we beat them 2-0 at home ( unlikely I know) , they'll come out all guns blazing and take us apart up there. Better bet is to lure them into thinking its a done deal ,their crowd won't be up for it, they may rest a few and we beat them up there. What's the away goal situation. I fancy 1-0 to them at our place and us doing them 2-1 up there . Is that pens or are we through Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. How is one of our players who has been injured for a large part of the season , being injured again, good news? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. These lefties want us riding around on penny farthings and living like Windy Miller. The lunatic green lobby are more of a threat to the British economy than Brexit ever will be. Millibands act cost the country dearly and these nutters still aren't satisfied Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. ****ing hell, you're a hard task master. 13th and you'll get the sack that's only if you get the club out of an EL group. If not sacked for 10th. Thank god you're not running the club because which managers going to take a chance blooding nippers if a 13th place finish gets him the boot? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I didn't particularly mean now, just what do people expect us to achieve with this group of players. I could have asked ,had another manager come and had these players, what position would people expect us to finish? Bearing in mind how good the top 6 have been this season Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. He was talking pony. One claim " we are leaving continental Europe ". No we're not Ken . Before praising this Europhile civil servant . The one who worked for him and was at one time Cleggys boss. The people who need to get in the real world are remoaning clowns. We're leaving,we're leaving the single market and we're going to be fine. The Michael Fish moment has done for the establishment . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Maybe you're right, but there has been a lot of hyperbole on other threads. I find it strange that people making the most fuss about going backwards under Puel seem unwilling to post what an acceptable finish is to them. Personally I think it's because if Puel achieves it they'll have to STFU. Far better to stick to nothing measurable so they can continue to moan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. **** me , Ken Clarke on Marr. Like a petulant kid throwing nonsense & insults around . Looks like he's after Grocer Heaths longest sulk record Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Koemans got one goal and one goal only, becoming Barcelona's manager. He hasn't got time to hang around building Everton up, he needs a quick fix. Followed by a jump to a genuine big club (maybe Arsenal) , then onto Barca . Fannying around making players like Ross Barclay better is not on his agenda Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Some really interesting and decent comments. Confusing really because all the Puel out threads are full of "we've gone backwards" and disaster mixed with doom and gloom. Yet when people are asked the specific question of their expectations most people seem to agree around mid table . Of course when you add subjective stuff about playing style and the like, then people are a bit more negative, whilst staying sensible in their expectations. I'm surprised there wasn't more doom on this thread, perhaps the "Puel out" brigade don't want to put their heads above the parapet and state a finishing position acceptable to them in case he makes that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Some pretty reasonable & sensible replies so far, all seem to suggest mid tableish. Top 6 has clearly gone, unlike last year when Chelsea & Liverpool were very average Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  16. Reading through the threads on here I really do wonder what people's expectations are for this season with this group of players. So instead of wondering I thought I'd ask. What position in the league & what sort of cup run constitutes "par" for us this season. Personally I think a top half finish with a decent cup run will be a bloody good effort and would match anything Koeman did with Morgan, Mane & Big Vic. The majority clearly disagree so I'd like to know their expectations , what is their realistic target for our finishing position this season? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. So 10th and you'll shut up banging on about Puel?
  18. We beat Norwich at home last season rofl ( whatever that means ) . I was talking about our home defeat in the FA cup 3rd round. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. What position is acceptable . None of the moaners has yet to answer that. The reason being they can't say 5th or 6th because that's foolish . They won't post mid table because Puel might get that . So they post subjective pony about " style" or number of points off the top. I'll ask again , what league position do you consider acceptable with this group of players? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. So how should we judge the season. What is an acceptable league position to you? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I bet you can't wait . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I'm not particularly unhappy . In the hat unlike others in our league & a reply is another opportunity for the nippers to have a run . It's not all doom & gloom . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. We were so much better last year .........When we lost at home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Shame they can't defend Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. You can't blame VvD on here . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
