How to manage austerity in a caring society
Lord Duckhunter replied to badgerx16's topic in The Lounge
How can you have an " unbiased " press ? What do you want reporting that states " Today David Cameron said x y and z" . **** me , yould only need one paper and it would be pretty boring . Bias is seen through the prism of your own views. I think the Guardian is biased and a bunch of sandal wearing half baked lefties read it . A leftie would consider it balanced and in line with British values . How on earth can you have a unbiased opinion piece . I thought Thersea May made a balanced and sensible speech , whereas a load of lefties are screaming that she's Enoch Powell in a skirt. What do you want a bias police to check for bias in the papers -
How to manage austerity in a caring society

Some lefties don't seem to understand that The Mail & The Sun are commercial operations and pitch their " opinions" in a place that can bring in the most money . Forget this " it was The Sun that won it" pony. They follow their readership rather than pull ordinary decent folk to the right. That's why their views are incoherent and all over the place. This latest " campaign " against wftc cuts isn't some principled stand or genuine belief , its there because many of its readers are going to be losing money. They didn't convert to New Labour, they just saw the way the wind was blowing. The Sun in jock land even backed the SNP ffs, what more evidence does anyone need than that? They pitch themselves where they feel they can get maximum revenue. If The Sun & Mail ceased to exist England would not suddenly move to the left. Watch what they do for the EU vote, they'll follow the polls rather than try and persuade people. All this pony about Murdoch as some sort of puppet master is pure pony. He is a staunch Republican but The Sun would never call for the end of the monarchy as that would cost them readers. Its just too easy for the left to blame " propaganda" rather than to rethink their beliefs and realise they're out of sync with the voting majority of the country. -
I mentioned this to the ticket office when it happened to me. They said that all the clubs had agreed to sort this growing problem out at source, they didnt want the hassle and aggro that will come with refusing entry to hundreds ( and they said it was 100's) of supporters on the day.

It happened to me at Liverpool for the 1-0 game we won . My mate wasn't going but as I was taking my nipper offered to take his as it would be company for my lad on the train. The extra nipper was a S/T holder but didn't have as many aways as us, so to get us all sat together we used another S/T number that had the right number of aways . The club rang me , (as I had booked the tickets ) and told me the same . They also used Steve's example of the Wigan game and said that clubs would stop consessions for certain clubs if their supporters were taking the **** . They said we were getting a name for taking the **** and saints had promised to sort their end. They were actually pretty good about it and transferred the sale to the lads S/T number as a " one off" because they believed we were genuine and weren't trying to con anyone . It was early in the season and they said it was the first game that they'd run checks and were having to make lots of calls, but we're putting a fix in place . I assumed they had because Im sure my away tickets now default to match your home ticket when buying online . Did you buy over the phone?

According to a jury one had consensual sex with her, so only one took advantage of her ( pending an appeal) .

People already pay enough tax to have your utopia , but its wasted and spread too thinly . -

Lefties always have the same problem. Instead of looking at where they got it wrong , they always blame the voters . The voters are either selfish or brainwashed by the media . The problem is that if you keep believing that , you'll never take the measures needed to get yourself elected . You only had to watch that half bake Charlotte Church on question time to see an example of this . -

Winter fuel allowence and free TV licences should go . The triple lock is also pandering to older folks just because they vote. I get it that people on fixed income should have their retirement income linked to prices , but that should be it . -
Had he given the Mane one he would have given it.

Post-Match Reaction: Chelsea 1-3 SAINTS
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Great performance, controlled the second half and the result never looked in doubt. I kept waiting for The Alamo, but it never came. Was more nervous in the last 5 minutes against Swansea than today. Back 4 were fantastic, Pelle gave a masterclass in playing up top , Mane & Tadic looked lively and the midfield worked tirelessly. However, the difference from a month ago is the full backs, they've given us balance. -
Which other club (or clubs) do you follow?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Professor's topic in The Saints
Support is a funny thing really . I was born in Southampton , but would never describe myself as a Southampton , or even hants man . It was fate that my dad had a job in Southampton and I was born there . We moved to Somerset and then Dorset before I was 10 , but I had the bug by then . I have no connections to the city and no family there . I consider myself a Poole man now, love the town and have brought 4 children up here . But , I get that feeling about saints , the gut wrenching sinking feeling when we lose , the ecstatic highs when we win . The worry when we're 3 up with 2 minutes to play , the optomistic delusion when we're away at Arsenal or City . If somebody says Southampton is a dump , I'll just shrug it off or even agree , somebody says saints or their support is shiete , I'll fire up . Why am I waffling on ? Apart from the 5 pints of tanglefoot , it's because of the difference between support and following . If somebody says Poole is a dump or a horrible place , I'll take it personally , but I really couldn't give a flying f about the football club . I can not get into anyone else but saints . The only feeling like it is when I watch my kids . I lived in the states and watched ft lauderdale strikers regularly , but it was just not the same . I don't want to come over all " I'm a better fan than you" , but do others have that same feeling whilst watching their " other " clubs as they do watching saints -
What!!!! He was poor, really poor. At one stage just before half time he blew every tackle. One was down the left right by me and RB clearly won the ball . Cork also rugby tackled VvD on the corner immediately after the goal and yet he gives a soft soft peno . It was right in front of me and even the Swansea players were bemused . It was one of those " look how clever I am " decisions . Nobody would have said a word had it not been given and maybe in slow motion and by the letter of the law , maybe . But if you're not giving the VvD one , you shouldn't be giving that one. He was poor both ways , even giving us soft free kicks . Quite a few players were on his case and it's a good job it wasn't a close game . Shocking performance .

That " small town in Cardiff " chant today was pretty lame.

I thought we were pretty decent first half and the start of the second . The only time we were poor was when the game was already won . The difference this week was balance and people playing in the right positions . Having 2 full backs bombing forward , particularly RB ( who was my MoM for playing like that after a long time out) , made all the difference . As well as he's done lately Targett is just not that sort of full back . And Maya even a week later it's still , WTF Ron . Had we played that team last week , we'd have beaten those Manc twts. There's obviously still more to come , both Tadic and Mane can still produce more IMO , and JRod can only get better . With Classie still to come in and JWP starting to look like a proper player , I'm pretty optimistic tonight .

If and it's a massive if, he's lost his mojo , then Reed and the powers that be will hopefully notice and make a decision . There's so much more to managing , that a slight change on match day is pretty flimsy evidence to base anything on . If he's different off the pitch , at training, if he's not putting the hours in or basically letting things slide , then I've no doubt the powers that be , will do the right thing as Swansea did with Laudrap . I hoping that his positive selections in cup games may work out and that this season maybe the one we reach another final . On our day and with a bit of luck we can beat anyone . Tactics wise , I would mind seeing a 3 at the back when RB returns . I think him and Cedric are perfect wing backs and VvD looks like he's comfortable as the " spare" man at the back , Jose can defo play in a 3 and with a bit of drilling and practise in sure caulker or maya could do so as well . A 3-5-2 would free up Mane to get closer to pelle and play off the big man . The other disappointment for me is the lack of game time Juanmi is getting , heard some great things about him from Malaga supporters in the summer , but doesn't get a look in . Early days, but even if he's not quite ready for the pace and power of the English game and needs to get used to it , he's not going to do that sat on the bench . I starting to lean towards the " Ron doesn't rate him " argument , really hope I'm way off the mark , but a strange start to his saints career so far .

Diane Abbott or a dead pig, not too much in it.

Is Navas the worst crosser of the ball ever seen? Shocking , the amount of ball he had and he didn't pick anyone out , or even miss the first man most of the time . Typical modern winger , quick but clueless . If you gave john robertson that much ball , he'd have put 3 on a plate for Bony and then slipped off for a fag and a pint .

Its just Arsenal twts all over twitter crying, doing my head in . Gabriel doesn't flick his foot back, he doesn't get sent off.
-
Its OK blaming Costa or Reed but Gabriel has got rocks in his head.

The other thing I found odd was that there was no comeback ,it was onto the next question . Normally the follow up question would contain a killer line or rebuttal of the answer just given . I maybe could understand if Corbyn took the subject and even the first question from the public , but the rest needs to be framed around Cameron's answer. It was bizarre . Cameron could have given an answer along the lines of " I don't really care about Mary from Islington and her welfare payments as I'm too busy having sex with Rebbeca Brookes and giving chunks of the NHS to my buddies " , and old Jezza would look at his notes and replied " Fred from ealing wants to know why house prices are so high"

He may get away with it once or twice, but it can't becomes a regular thing. PMQ's is really about rallying your troops and getting a decent attack sound bite on the 6 o clock news nowadays . He's not going to do either by quoting random lefties that have bothered to email him. For a " conviction" politician he seems to be ditching his principles pretty quickly . A spokesman has now said he will sing the national anthem in future.
-
The problem is Corbyn is not the man to hang the leftie hat on , but there is nobody else . Maybe In another life Caroline Lucas could have been the one . The Tories are in the same boat , it's all " middle managers " rather than deep thinkers with politcal convictions. David Davis has some interesting ideas , but he's persona non grata .
-
That's because "Call me Dave " is the very worst type of wet Heath like Tory . A proper Tory knows you cut public spending in growth years , but these clowns were so wedded to the Blairite model they forgot all about basic economic reality . Everybody lost leave of their senses and believed this " no more boom and bust" pony . Labour fully supported membership of the ERM , but I don't recall that from stopping them attacking the Tories when it went belly up. What comes around goes around .

He can.

Sound starts about 20 seconds in, just as the ball whistles past Close's nose.
