Listening to a press bloke talking about transfers on the radio today . Right at the end they started speculating about players and john O shea's name came up . The guy said I've heard Everton are interested in him if Stones goes , he then said VVD would be a great buy for them but " everybody knows he's off to Southampton" . I know it's just one bloke , but he said in a real convincing matter of fact way. Not " I think Southampton are in prime position " or " I think he'll go to Southampton " but a very clear " everybody knows he's off to Southampton"

FFS , we have some right twts as supporters , both here and at the game . Every single premier league side will have a bad day at the office somewhen , particularly in August . It's an unforgiving league and you pay the price for poor performances . Today was poor once we went 1-0 down , but there's been a total over reaction on here and by some coming out the ground . Target is a teenager , with a teenagers body , we were spoilt with shaw. , who was a man at that age . What do people expect , Everton have physical players that bully grown men , let alone a young kid . Give the kid a break FFS . Looked better second half with the 2 strong holding players , get a centre half in to replace maya and I'd like to see juanmi given a run instead if Tadic or Long . We're not a million miles away , people need to calm down .

I can't believe people don't want to play them whilst the gap is so big. We're not going to get much higher and they're not going to get much lower.What do people want, to wait till they're top half of league one or god forbid Championship, it'll be a lot harder game then. This won't happen unless Ron wants it to happen. No way on earth the club would sell the skipper from under him , as that would totally undermine him. No way Fonte would swap Saints for Villa , even for a pay rise ( as I doubt it'll be big enough) . That leaves 2 explanations , agent putting pressure on club for new deal or Ron feeling he can bring in an upgrade . Maybe Ron doesn't rate him as highly as some of us and now the ships settled and he's got his feet firmly under the table Ron feels its time to say " thanks, but goodbye" . Bill Shankly used to say that one major part of good management is spotting when a player tipped over the top of the hill before anyone else noticed, and getting rid. Maybe Ron feels this is the case here. One thing is for sure, he knows more about centre halves than any of us. I'll be gutted if he goes, but trust Ron & Les will do what's right for the club.

So we have the laughable situation where anyone can pay £3 and have a vote and an mp on the ballot, looking like he's going to win, that only qualified because of " borrowed" nominations. To think some wanted these clowns to run the country, they can't even run a leadership race. A basic principle of political leadership is you have to carry the confidence of many MPs. Its why the Tories only sent 2 MPs to the membership , its why labour have this threshold . By manipulating JC onto the ballot they could end up with a leader with only a handful of MPs supporting him,and a vote that was gerrymandered for £3 . Did nobody realise this, are they that stupid? Its complete and utter incompetence, thank god they don't run the country.

We've got some clowns on here. Morgan is one of the best players in the league in his position, how's do we " upgrade" from a champions league international? If there was an " upgrade " available wouldn't Man Utd have signed him instead of Morgan . Same with NC , best English RB . Do people think its easy to " upgrade" FFS. Its easy if you're Stoke,Palace, WBA , as you've got some ****e to upgrade . We've sold or not resigned genuine class , international players, used to the premier league. It'll be a fantastic achievement to stand still this season.

Happy with that . Tough start after Europa league , no Ron and toon with new manager . Not easy , especially as we defended so poorly . Davis mom , Mane both ends of the scale , world class one minute , hopeless the next . 2 great goals . Targett out of his depth IMO , should have gone with Maya at full back & caulker in middle . Turning point was Maya's chance , you can not miss that . Then targett gives a poor ball from resulting corner and we're caught . Had we gone 2-1 up , we were set up to hit them on break . I thought Colback did well for them , a couple of great bits of defending at the end , one block and also tracked a dangerous run from Mane . All in all decent result

Shelvy was far far more influential than him . If it was reported we were interested in him this forum would go into meltdown , yet he's a better player than cork on today's evidence

I can't see him kicking on , but happy to be proved wrong . I just don't think he does anything particularly well , he's a " nearly" player IMO. He seems quite tactically aware , so there's a chance he'll improve . If he bulks up and starts winning tackles he could have a chance, look at Henderson , but he's too airy fairy at the moment. Tadic & lallana get away with it because of their exceptional technique and ability , he's not at that level yet , so without tackling or speed he'll struggle to impose himself . I'm not convinced by him in the number 10 role ,or as a creative midfielder . With his tactical nous and his apparent long range passing ability , he maybe able to convert himself into a DM but needs to strengthen up . Morgan didn't seem to tackle too much at a young age , but he managed it .

Spot on. The comparisons with tennis is so wide of the mark , it's untrue . The Williams sisters and chicks like that would easily beat non pro males from the local tennis club , just as that bird Ennis with the nice arse would outrun most blokes . However , chick footballers are useless . The very best wouldn't even get in a Sunday league side . Women's tennis , athletics , swimming & golf are elite sports , football isn't , despite the bbc lefties trying to tell us it is .

I'm in Malaga area at the moment and have been speaking to a few locals about the guy . From expats that go to watch them ( the season tickets are dirt cheap evidently ) to taxi drivers & waiters ect . All , without exception , rave about him . The only doubts I've heard are about his size & strength to play in PL . They really do rate him though , looks like he could be a little gem . It's shocking and doesn't deserve any coverage . I'd rather watch a Wessex League game , but the bbc would never cover that . It's the same with the chicks " ashes" , bigged up by the bbc to a level completely unjustified .

Do you understand the difference between respecting the guy and wanting him to play for us . Terry Paine is a legend but I wouldn't want him in the side on Thursday .

Teddy signed by Brian Clough & sir Alex , won the champions league , FA cup , league titles and played in the top flight most of his career , winning over 50 caps , is on a par with a bloke who played in the lower leagues nearly all his life & won **** all and a handful of caps . I hope you don't embarrass yourself in front of neutrals with your theory .
