  1. The richest have never paid a higher % of tax take as they do now . Have you learnt nothing from the past 40 years or from France . If you tax the rich too much you get less revenue in . It's also immoral to take more than 50% of a mans wages from him . Anyway what's " fair" . Surely fair is everybody pays the same % . At the end of the day , the electorate decided what they wanted and the Tories are delivering it.
  2. Don't talk nonsense man . I made no distinction between chicks or men , 3rd place in a wc has no standing in football . If saints failed to get promotion from the championship , yet all jumped around , running on the pitch like demented half wits because they finished 7th and therefore were better than 15 other teams , it would be embarrassing . What about after losing to Everton in an FA cup semi , perhaps we should of had a game with the other losing semi finalist ( Plymouth wasn't it?) , we could then sing about our glorious 3rd place ,and maybe had a parade . LVG who is the last manager to attain this wonderful 3rd place trophy called it " pointless" . He's right , you're wrong . There's no 3rd place in a football cup , it's a joke prize . And players that jump around as if they've won the World Cup are pathetic , regardless if they're birds or blokes
  3. I think it's about lefties fighting the 2015 election over and over again . The Tories have a mandate to cut welfare massively . As lefties pointed out , this would include in work benefits , yet the electorate gave them the ok to go ahead . You can't cut your cloth by taxing " millionaires" or " the bankers" only . Personally I'd have blown a hole in middle class benefits as well . No more family allowance , winter fuel payments or free TV licences .
  4. " Everyone" , really? Winning the Third place game in a WC is not success .
  5. Overall I think it looks a pretty decent budget , although these things do tend to fall apart in the following days. I wish he'd been a bit more radical . Am I right in assuming that the 2 children rule applies to benefits only and not family allowance. If so that's nonsense. If you establish a rule that the state will only pay for 2 children if you're poorly paid, and need benefits to top up your wages, why can a bloke & his Mrs on a combined income of £60k have a state handout for 3,4,5 brats?
  6. Still £1 more an hour than labours manifesto promise. Surely lefties will think that's a good thing, or does their hatred of the Tories trump that?
  7. Nonsense , how could it be " wrapped up then?"They clearly had to wait until the loan ended and the transfer window opened. What do you think, that spurs only became interested then?
  8. You're right , he would have just got the job done . No fannying around with loan to buys , bang , stright in with the dough , like he did with Gaston & Osvsldo .
  9. **** me , some of the posts on here are laughable . Who do they think is in charge of the club The Chuckle Brothers, , Forest Gump , some clueless ****wit ? I've no doubt the club did everything possible to sign the guy and then explored every legal angle to scupper the move to Spurs . Yet again the club are getting the clog , yet the player is the one who is signing for spurs . Les Read and co want what's best for the club and acted in the best interests of the club . Toby acted in the best interests of Toby, yet Read gets the clog on here from some jokers . Thank **** we don't have a " fan in the board" and I hope and pray one of our clowns doesnt win the euro millions and buy Kat out. We really would become a laughing stock then .
  10. I think you're right . There's a massive difference from saying he's not bothered which one he signs for when there's no deal on the table , to Turning down Spurs to sign for a smaller club . I've heard of last minute gazumping , but any examples of when a bigger club , paying higher wages have been the victim. I don't care how many times his father , him, his mates, whoever tells us , I don't believe for one minute that there's not a deal signed sealed and delivered ready to go once the legal i's are dotted with regard to our claim . The actual agreement between clubs is the last piece of the jigsaw. Levy didn't travel to Spain without knowing Toby wanted to sign , clubs make offers once they get a nod and a wink , not before .
  11. Why are people persisting in this nonsense that Mitchell is the reason any clause loophole or details became known to spurs . AM will have told anyone interested to drive up the price by creating an auction and agents will to drive up interest and therefore wages. Are people seriously trying to say that had Mitchell never left saints AM would have kept quiet and just accepted the £6.8 million . The only reason for the buy back clause is to open up an auction if he had a good season . To think its out because of an ex employe is barmy.
  12. So basically he prefers Spurs to us. I hope people take that into account before they start moaning about our part in this .
  13. My point exactly, proper players don't. LVG called it " pointless" even though Holland won this great historic game in Brazil and I don't recall the Italians or even Poles running onto the pitch like demented half bakes when they won this great prize .
  14. A question to the people claiming we screwed up and should of matched spurs offer. Isn't that an admission that our deal was invalid or that AM did buy it out in time. What would our lawyers say in any action " we had a watertight agreement that AM broke . This agreement gave us the player for £6.8 million , but we decided to offer £11 million. ?"
  15. The third place play off is a joke game. Its just a glorified friendly, no proper players give a toss about it.
  16. What a load of old pony . " Scientific" evidence. There is no evidence either way no matter how many phoney " studies citing various papers " . The only facts are where we are now, the only truth is what we're living because there's no way of proving or disproving any other theory. The fact is we have a low wage economy with many many people not earning a living wage. Some people think increasing the supply of low skilled labour surpressed wages at the bottom end of the market. Its not provable or disprovable it is just an opinion. However I've yet to meet anyone who thinks increasing the supply of labour makes companies increase salaries. If that's the case maybe we should let Turkey join the EU , open our doors to millions of them and watch the wages of our poorest rocket upwards.
  17. Depends on which other measures were taken at the same time. If the minimum wage was increased to a living wage & immigration was controlled , there would be job loses short term but in the longer run we would have higher wages for unskilled labour. Its not really something you can do in the present climate , the time for this is during the boom years , unfortunately Gordon Brown did the exact opposite during his years of growth .
  18. Do you really believe that we didn't try & get him without this clause or that we didn't try and make it permanent in Jan ?
  19. What happens if AM had notified us that they were going to buy out the clause , but hadn't paid it . They are guilty of late payment , but plenty of clubs have been late in paying transfer fees . They may well want to pay the buy out fee with money they get from spurs . Morally wrong , but not black and white . I guess it all depends on the wording of the deal , was it specifically linked to saints receiving the cash by X date or did they just need to notify us by that date . It seems unbeliable that a club could be so unprofessional as to not notify us in time , so being late with the payment seems the most likely to me . Maybe a late payment does trigger Saints clause , but who knows . My gut feeling is he may have to come out and ask for a move to spurs . We may get a few extra quid , but I can't see us forcing a player to sign , who has said he wants to go elsewhere . I know people will jump up and down and say he's said he's happy coming here , but that was when it was all up in the air . What do people think his choice will be if he's forced to make one ? And quite frankly if he wants to sign for spurs **** him , let's get someone else in.
  20. Which bit? Sounds plausible that thy told us they were invoking the clause but didn't pay up in time . Something's obviously happened their end and not paying in time is as likely as not having done anything and just let the clause time out . A lot of reports suggest Levy was over there and an agreement reached . It's perfectly plausible that he prefers spurs over us , in fact I'd say most neutrals would suggest it was ******** that he preferred saints to spurs .
  21. If companies can't afford to pay people a living wage , then they're not financially viable . The modern Tory party only seems to believe in the free market when it helps companies . To work there needs to be a free market in wages and labour . If I need £10 an hour to be better off than on the dole , I don't really care if Tesco pay £7 of it and the taxpayer £3. If the taxpayer removed his portion then tesco could either give me a £3 rise or find someone else, if enough people felt the same their shelves go unstacked and their tills unmanned until they pay an attractive wage . That's a free market working for the working man .Of course as you seem to acknowledge an influx of foreign workers will distort the market .somebody somewhere will work for £7 an hour because they'll only get £2.50 in their home country .
  22. B&Q pay just above minimum wage for most of their staff and therefore the state spends a lot of money subsidising them. Too much supply & subsidies will always produce low wages. The unskilled working man has one tool to bargain with, the withdrawal of that labour. If nobody will stack the shelves the retailer will have to increase wages to attract people. Whilst there's a ready supply of workers and whilst the government increases pay on behalf of the employer, why on earth would they? They are only interested in their shareholders and profits . The government also subsidies landlords as rents are kept artificial high and not subjected to the market. If there was more social housing and no housing benefit , private landlords would have to either bring rents down or have empty properties .
  23. The 3rd place play off game has to be the biggest waste of time in any world cup, proper one or birds one. All the players running on at the end jumping around like loons was a bit mickey mouse, its a nothing meaningless game .
  24. They're only interested in what's right for the EU, not Greece .
  25. I was playing myself ( obviously not for saints ) the day of the Adrian Heath goal , so although gutted at the result it didn't quite have the sickening feeling it must have been watching it at the ground . The Norris one was **** all , completely irrelevant in the context of history . The 4 at their place under Twitchy were all worse. The single most gutless performance I've seen in 40 years of watching . I guess the worst one in terms of technique was Lurch's clearance and John Barnes rolling it back in whilst he scrabbled across the goal . But for a sinking feeling it had to be Bents . We played well and should have put it to bed, and Crouch was a complete numpty . That was the day I thought we're going down for the first time in nearly 3 decades .
