  1. Why are people bending over backwards to try and claim the Muslim religion is somehow equatable with Christianity . I'm not a Christian man , but it's clear that certain aspects of Muslim opinion is at odds with our society . If you asked " should women be allowed to behave exactly the same as men, be allowed to marry who they want and wear what they want " mainstream British opinion , excluding Muslims would probarly agree except for the odd fruit cake , would the same % of Muslims agree ?
  2. How on earth is that representative of mainstream Muslim opinion ? Had I posted a couple of people condoning attacks on infidels , you'll rightly say it's unrepresentative . What do you think mainstream Muslim opinion is regarding women's rights , gay rights and the right to laugh at or criticise the prophet . Is it as enlightened as the majority of the country?
  3. How does your " middle class Western Islam " view women and gay rights and do they uphold the right of others to take the pizz or criticise their religion .
  4. Surely this particular incident is about imposing some sort of Islamic blasphemy law via the back door. I don't think Muslim or Muslim communities should be forced to condemn this , as it goes without saying . However , I would be interested in their views on whether the pizz can be taken out of their religion .
  5. France wasn't involved or support the invasion of Iraq, yet still get attacked.
  6. The thing is , there is no professional body that can refuse to allow him to be a footballer. I couldn't start suddenly being an accountant or a solicitor tomorrow regardless of whether somebody wanted to employ me as one. I could become a " professional" footballer. If les Reed knocked on my front door with a playing contract in hand , there is no law or no governing body to say " he's not qualified enough" . If the contract was for finance director , there would be. Not one person who calls for a ban seems to be able to articulate how it will work in practical terms. Who issues the ban? Is it from all football and if not, who decides at what level a ban kicks in? What happens if your at a non banned level and your team get promoted to a banned level or draw a banned level team in the cup? Are you allowed to make a living out of football at a banned level. What happens if you're a rapist playing for a Wessex League team and become a Charlie Austin, do you become banned because Swindon want to sign you?
  7. The point I'm trying to make is that a ban isn't as easy to administer as people think. The only way to do it would be for the FA to bring in a blanket ban for all sex offenders , as every league and every team are governed by the FA. However, any ban would have to cover all sex offenders jailed not just Evans. Do people really want to stop ex offenders , many of whom maybe rehabilitated , playing organised football at any level? Once people start saying they don't want people earning loads of money, or playing in front of thousands , it becomes subjective , how much can they earn ect . You can't ban someone from playing football on the basis their good at it. If it's wrong for Evans to play football , it wrong, whether he plays for the Red Lion on a Sunday morning or Manchester Utd. You can't make rules and laws on the back of one particular case , no matter how unpleasant . Ex offenders should either be allowed to play football or they should not, you can't say some can and some can't , depending on how famous they are or how much they might earn from it .
  8. What have the PFA got to do with stopping him playing football, its a union . Football is not a closed shop , whether or not the PFA refuse to admit him as a member doesn't make a blind bit of difference . He can still play football whether member or not. How do you stop someone being a " pro" footballer . You don't need a licence or professional qualification , all you need is someone willing to pay you. Technically my local pub team could pay him 1k a week and he'd be a professional.
  9. Because PFA is just a union, even if they stripped him of membership he could still play football . Its not a closed shop, you don't need to be a union member to play football. Football is a pyramid, how far down do you want to go to ban him. The " professional" game is blurred. There are professional players in non league. If you allow him to play non league, what happens if his team get promoted , do they have to sell him. What if they draw a league club in the cup, can he play. Or do you intend to ban him from all football , including the Dog and Duck? Setting the criteria of any ban is impossible when teams move up and down the leagues , pay players, and charge spectators to watch right down the pyramid.
  10. One for the oldies , Sgt Bilko , what a great show. My father in law owned a night club in the 70' s and meet Phil Shilvers once , said he was a nice fella. As for women, I don't find any particularly funny, Jo Brand , Saunders and dawn French unbelievably unfunny . Never got that Ab Fab thing and found it utter pony. The royal family was great, very funny and well written , but became too predictable in the end. The last couple of Xmas specials were embarrassing IMO. Talking of Royal Family , the show Early Doors was similar and I loved that , thought it was well funny. I love The Carry On films as well . Carry on Screaming with Harry H Corbett a particular favourite. No doubt some of the metrosexuals on here will disapprove , but I thought they were great .
  11. Job shy layabout from a dysfunctional family . Not really surprised the mail are going hard on this , immigrant family who are welfare claimants , none of whom can seem to stop ****ging, make good copy.
  12. Wes makes a good point there. Don't lie, but don't mention anything about the match .
  13. Since The Office Gervais is totally unfunny. Jo Brand is about as funny as Ebola and Lenny Henry is just pathetic . There is not one decent UK sit com , phoenix nights was brilliant and Peter Kay great, but nothing compares to curb your enthusiasm. Larry David is a genius.
  14. http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=60 These people helped me get off a speeding ticket . Just join the forum and they're very helpful .
  15. Rickie Lambert is a Southampton legend, one of the best signings in my lifetime ( I'm in my 50's). He was the best striker in league one and was always going to score a shed load down there. However, the goals he scored in the championship were priceless, to go through that league in one go is what launched this club back to the big time. The way be played in the premiership and the goals he scored were a bonus. Where ever he plays I hope he is sucsessful. Just cast your mind back to how you felt when he headed that one in against the jocks.
  16. If his conviction is quashed he will not be a rapist. He'll get stick at away grounds , but he will not be a rapist. He will be a victim of a miscarriage of justice.
  17. MP improved some of the players there's no doubt about that . Particularly drastic improvements in JRod and Lallana IMO , I'm not say they were poor before , but under him they were consistently brilliant . When the dust has settled and emotions aren't running so high , people may see that he turned those two good players into internationals . I also felt he coached the side well, everybody knew their role and responsibilities . Ron is similar , in that our players and systems look well coached. Ron has the edge on changing tactically , the Everton game was a masterstroke that Poch could never have pulled. I think the first team coaching set up is more superior now. The last lot were basically Poch's muckers. Now we seem to have coaches there , not because they're Ron's buddies but because they fit our club. Ron wouldn't have worked with Sammy Lee or Dave Watson if he'd been appointed elsewhere . It gives us a more rounded looking coaching staff ( no pun intended to Mr Lee) . That leaves Rons brother . I was in Portugal shortly after they were appointed and drank in a bar owned by a Dutch couple and a few Dutch guys went in there . We talked about football and the general feeling was that Ron was a so so manager, however there was a lot of praise for Erwin, said he was good coach . Obviously the early signs are that the mix we have is working perfectly. I get the feeling that Ron is comfortable in his own skin and has no ego. Which must make working alongside him a joy . Sammy Lee particularly seems to love the whole thing .
  18. I fancied it today when I saw their team , with no striker . The bloke wenger should be looking at isn't the keeper but Giroud. Would have been a different game with him in . They got in some useful wide positions but couldn't cross the ball as it had to be so precise for one of the midgets to head in. Great to win without Morgan. Victor was great and well played to Reed who got stuck in and ruffled a few expensive feathers. Well done to Yoshida as well, that can't be easy , coming on against those type of players and playing out of position. SD was his normal unsung tidy self , but my MOM was The Keeper. The Sanchez save was the turning point of the game . I thought support was great today as well.
  19. LOL , I love an ignorant statement calling others thick. " Most" LOL.
  20. Where did I say I have no concern over cheating . what I asked is why do people concern themselves with only one form of cheating. Is your " cheating panel" going to adjudicate on all forms of cheating or just diving. If somebody appeals for a corner, when they know its a goal kick , is that cheating? How do you prove it. Is leaving your foot in cheating, Morgan cheated on Sunday by deliberately breaking up a Chelsea attack, he got a deserved yellow card. How is his cheating different than other forms of cheating. If Forster pushes a shot round the post , claims he didn't touch it, and ref gives a goal kick, will your panel adjudicate on that. What about Fonte holding somebody at a corner , is that not cheating? It makes me laugh ,Chopper Harris can cheat by basically committing GBH on a forward, but diving is the lowest of the low. Surely most forms of cheating is too subjective for your panel. Which sports ban cheats for life?
  21. This is the thing that ****es me most off when it comes to clichés about Americans. English people making out we are so much more sophisticated than yanks because of the passport numbers.A passport many only use to go to turkey, Costa del sol , Majorca or another holiday resort . How many Brits would have a passport if they didn't need one to travel to Europe , particularly at £90 odd a go.
  22. Well , for one I'm not sure who these UKIP " chums" are. And , two, I would be breaking the law , not to mention receiving my p45 , if I gave the jobs to candidates based on their nationalality . HR provide me with candidates and I have to articulate the reasons for any rejections. Unfortunately , there was discrimination involved in the process , as French, German and Eastern Europeans were treated differently than Africans and Pakistanis , but we just follow the establishments rules.
  23. I lived in FLA for a few years in the 80's . I've always liked a few bevys and found it safer for low level alcohol type violence than the uk. Never saw much trouble and always felt safe even if totally polluted . Worked in a club for a while and we had no trouble at all, the doorman got no aggro even when turning away blokes with no Id . There never seemed to be the edge I've found on some nights out in this country. Now obviously my drinking habits and nights out are minor issues compared to shootings and the like, but the point I'm making is it's not a violent country overall. It's just that certain areas are horrendously unsafe for some and obviously the amount of guns and access to them , is horrific . It's very easy to say " take the guns off them" , but it's harder to do in practise. For many it is a human right , it stands for more than actually owning a gun. It stands for the citizen against government . They will not give up that right anymore than they'll give up the right to free speech . Try as you might you are never going to change that. Americans get a raw deal from some over here. I found them to be warm, friendly and good company, with pretty much the same arsehole %'s as Brits. So I would say in reply to the question posed, there's not a lot wrong with America .
  24. "Regional Racism" that's a good one Pap, hope Skates arent included. Somehow I doubt they are , " selective regional racism" it is then. Perhaps the jocks, sorry , our Scottish friends ,could start paying prescription charges and use the money for specialist Ebola unit. Until thats up and running Salmond and co could stfu about the English health service.
  25. I would. And I reckon with a bit of modification the old selfie stick could take some interesting photos in a dark crowded night club.
