  1. I still can't believe we lost the home game to Utd.
  2. Bestie would be unplayable on today's pitches under today's rules , provided he maintained today's lifestyle and fitness.
  3. He's failed in 3 English seasons, totally and utterly failed under 4 different managers . He also earns somewhere north of 50k a week . He's had plenty of time to impress in England whilst the other 2 have had about 5 months and I doubt if they earn anywhere near the same money . We've basically had a try before you buy deal on both, such a shame we didn't have the same for Gaston . Hull did and I doubt if they'd be keeping him even if they stayed up. I don't know why Djuricic is getting lumped in with Elia and getting so much stick. He's not really had much of a chance, certainly nowhere near as many chances as Gaston , and has yet to have a preseason . Cost permitting I think he could be OK , but whatever happens he won't be the monumental waste of money Gaston was.
  4. Come on Norwich , want to visit The Coach & Horses next season.
  5. Or another Gaston. Yes, let's keep a vastly over paid under performing player in case we sign someone cheaper who is just as bad .
  6. He'll get this particular one because the EU & him need to throw a few scraps to the Brits. Welfare is really not the big issue that it's made out to be . If you notice it's only the established parties and politicians that make a big deal out of it . Watch QT or Daily Politics , every time immigration is mentioned the liblabcon politicians bring up clamping down on benefit tourists and minimum wage explotation . UKIP and people who want out never really mention it as an issue . As far as immigration is concerned it is a side issue, but as they can't do anything about the main issue ( the free movement of people ) they try and distract people with this nonsense. The EU will never budge on the free movement of people, but would be willing to compromise around welfare to keep us " onside" .
  7. I'll always be grateful for Pelles goals and performances this season and for steadying the ship after all the departures , however if we want to continue to move forward we need to get rid . Personally , I don't think he's got enough movement , particularly down the channels . I think we'd get more out of Mane with more movement and switching of positions like we did last year . Pelle just plays stright down the middle . In not saying Austin is the answer as I'm not convinced by him . Maybe a loan move for that Wilson at Utd or Bamford if Boro don't go up . But I don't want JRod and Mane having to play down the flanks because Pelle is incapable of moving from the middle third . We need 3 up top , who can switch around and interchange whilst moving the centre halves about . I hate to say it but the way we played up front last year is the way to go. Although Lambert is as immobile as pelle , he used to drift out wide, pick passes and find space , pelle is like something out of the 1980's
  8. No Gaston thread is complete without mention of " the game against Villa" or some world class assist against someone ( Newcastle?) . Also he's a young boy, he's in a foreign country and he hasn't has a preseason since he was 4. And may I be the first to post that age old gem , " he clearly has talent" .
  9. It's very simple . A fundamental principle of the EU is that the host country treats all EU citizens equally , and by equally they make no distinction between " home" citizens and " immigrants ". As our benefits are based on need not contribution a Greek working in the Uk is entitled to as many in work benefits as you or me . If our benefits are more generous than other EU members , we will pay more to immigrants than they do. To give the EU credit, this policy is entirely consistent with the free movement of people and the principle of a federal Europe . Does Texas limit benefits to New Yorkers or do The Scots limit benefits to Welsh workers . The inconsistent ones here are the liar politicians who instead of sticking up for what they believe in and what they signed up for , try and pull the wool over our eyes. So basically the reason we need EU permission is because we signed away the right to limit benefits to UK subjects years ago. In the interests of balance I would point out that if you moved to Poland you would be entitled to the same right to benefit as the local population .
  10. I'm sure Liverpool supporters will point to games they should have won, spurs lost some home games they should win. At the end of the day 1 point in head to head games against spurs and Liverpool are what has cost us, we weren't good enough to beat them. We are the 7th best team this season, end of.
  11. So which right wing newspaper will call for out?The Daily Express , and that'll be it. Why is it that you lefties seem to believe you're so much more superior than the great unwashed. In your eyes if people vote for out its because they don't understand the issues , or are misled by the " right wing press" , or god forbid they are " little Englanders " ( are there any little Scots , or little Welsh). Why can't you except that people are as enlightened and as intelligent as you, but just have a different opinion. Was Tony Benn a little Englander , was he fed bull by the " right wing media" ? Was he " myopic"?
  12. The original intent is exactly what is is now , " ever closer union" is the fundamental principle set out at the start . It's just that the British establishment have lied about it . Europeans are fully aware of what the eu is and the majority are comforforable with it . Instead of trying to persuade the British of the merits of ever closer union, free movement of people and a federal Europe , British politicians have lied and signed up to everything by stealth . It was never intended to be a trading bloc only , if it was it would still be called the Common Market .
  13. Surely Nelson Mandela & Charlie boy are complete opposites . One fought against oppression , believed that every man was equal no matter what colour or class they were . Whilst the other one was " born to reign over us" . Has a job that non of the great unwashed can ever have and got it on the back on the basis of who his family were . If SA had crowned King Nelson , had he passed the crown on to his first born , then maybe I'd get the similarity .
  14. I wonder if the local Muslim bakers will bake me a nice cake with Mohammed on it?
  15. Wouldn't be all bad, at least lefties would shut up about equality.
  16. I would only go for Green if it was a loan till Jan & QPR pick up half his wages. Or he signs for free on about 20k a week, to play until Frasier is back, then become back up. He's a pretty decent back up to have, better than kelvin or Gaza. But I cant really see it happening .
  17. ‘You have to be careful in football, geographically with Portsmouth you are required to pay more for the standard of living than other people." WTF!!!!!!!
  18. I'm watching the Conference Final, ref having a mare , should have sent both keepers off. Pretty exciting game.
  19. Spent an enjoyable evening getting totally bladderated with my mate from the gutter press. Anyway, he told me what we all suspected about Chucka with the sudden appearance of "The Girlfriend" . However , the interesting thing is the rumoured story is one of old Chucka and a very famous fella. Said he did not know the name and at the moment they ( the rag chasing it) " can't stand the story up" ( whatever that means ) , but watch this space.
  20. Didn't see this thread and started one of my own. Hopefully mods can merge it. His version of Leon Russesl's Humingbird, is one of the greatest covers I've ever heard. saw him back in the 90's and he was incredible.
  21. The great man passed away last night, was lucky enough to see him perform live. Legend.
  22. Firstly , you're assuming I'm a Tory , which I'm not . Secondly I don't believe many charities and churches are " neutral" . Thirdly , thanks for the conformation .
  23. Burnham for me , my preference would be Abbott but unfortunately it doesn't look like she will be standing . As for the lib/dumbs , Jeremy Browne was head and shoulders above any of them and yet Cleggy binned him and he stood down . We will never know but I reckon he'd have kept his seat, although the sandal wearers would never tolerate him as leader as he's far too sensible . I was half expecting him to turn up on the Tory benches , but I guess guys with his talent can make more money with less hassle out of politics . A bigger loss that Hic Kennedy , Hughes , Jailbird Huhme , cable & that Green loon Davey all added together . How the **** Bennett is still in her job is beyond me. How do they choose their leader, do they have a lentil bake off , or dance off at Stonehenge on the longest day . What sort of selection process came up with that half bake? As for ukip , Nigel should be packed off to the lords ( it's quite disgraceful how underrepresented this major party is in the upper house ) & Paul Nuttall or Suzanne Evans placed in charge .
  24. The problem with you lefties is the hyperbole . You hijack the English langaguge banging on about " fairness" & " progressive" , you over hype everything . Instead of saying you disagree with certain aspects of Tory NHS, it's " 24 hours to save NHS" or it's being sold to Tory fat cats or an American system is coming . A cut in benefit is renamed a tax and people are dying because of it, child poverty is rife, the Tories are evil , it's all way ott . If half of it was true the Tories wouldn't stand an earthly of ever getting elected , yet they've just been given a mandate . Clearly the British people don't believe lefties nonsense, but instead of learning that lesson , instead of toning it down a bit and arguing / debating sensibly without all the nonsense about killing people and like , it's the same old same old . The stupid thing is the labour politicians don't believe it anymore than I do . Everybody knows there's not much difference between the establishment parties on policy , a bit here & a bit there , but they hype it all up for political purpose and then half bakes take it as fact . As a Rightie I hope it continues because I'd like to see right leaning politicians in power, I hope we have another 5 years of the same old nonsense , same old wild claims about wicked Tories because come the next election we will get the same result . Why can lefties accept the right want a decent standard of living for all, want opportunity for the many, want social mobility and a caring society , but believe that their policies to achieve this are well meaning but wrong . I think the left is well meaning but wrong , with lefties it's always selfish , dangerous , uncaring , deliberately cruel ect ect .
  25. There's only one thing more sickening than pious leftie celebs and that's pious leftie vicars . No wonder religion is becoming an irralavance in this country . What happened to the Cyrstal Methodist , wasn't he a labourite ? I love the " shared 100,000 times " . **** me, it's less than a week ago that millions gave the Tories a mandate to carry on , perhaps we should have Facebook or Twitter elections . Forget voting, whoever gets the most " likes" , or shares becomes PM. Just love the way the lefties have reacted to their crushing defeat , when are they going to wake up and smell the coffee .
