Since Gordon brown destroyed the final salary pensions of private company employees , the equity in peoples houses is their only form of "savings". My and Mrs Duck will use ours to buy a smaller place which we'll rent out. Once the kids leave home and the mortgage is paid off, we'll switch properties and the £1100 (based on next doors rent) a month rent we'll get in will go towards our retirement income. Now clearly its in my interest for supply to be kept down, forcing rent up. Do I want the hassle, no I don't. But Brown made my final salary pension unaffordable and I've lost thousands. What is more "scummy". Funding your own retirement by providing a service, relying on the state to look after you, or decimating one of the worlds finest pension systems?

Our next door neighbour (a teacher BTW) got a job in Germany. It is a 3 year contract, so decided not to sell up, but rent out their house as they want to live round here on their return. The people who moved in, love the house and told me that they couldn't believe their luck that this became available to rent. I don't know why they rent, I didn't ask them. But she doesn't work and he drives a BMW, so presume they could afford to buy. Just to add, after mortgage payments , estate agents fees for managing the property and paying rent on his place in Germany, he still comes out with a profit. Is my neighbour a "scummy landlord with no soul" ?

What UKIP have done is change the terms of the debate. Bill Cash and others used to argue about "section x, sub section y of treaty w" it didn't really resonate with people. What Nigel's done is simplify the argument and concentrate on the effect, rather than the cause. He's linked low skill Eastern European immigration to the EU, he's linked unskilled British youths on the dole to EU immigration. The BBC and other establishment figures have tried to push Europe down the agenda, they've tried to say that it doesn't rank highly amongst voters issues. What Nigel has done is bust that myth wide open, "Europe" itself may not feature highly, but immigration does and it's now linked to Europe. If immigration went away as an issue, there's plenty of other issues that are caused by our membership that Nigel can link. Amazon/Google ect paying taxes elsewhere, VAT rates, increased cost of dredging rivers, the list will be endless because as EU Commissioner Viviane Reding said recently, 70% of UK law comes from the EU. The Establishment have lied to us, made people vote again, denied us a voice for a generation, fiddled the books (when was the last time the auditors signed off the EU budget) and basically treated us like citizens of a third world despot to keep the gravy train running . Armed with all that, even a half wit could take Cleggy to the cleaners, let alone an intelligent witty bloke like Farage.

Lucky for him that he blew up innocent people, had he grabbed a couple of chicks tits he'd be facing the full force of the law. -
This was the Tory line when opposing the minimum wage. Labours very clever and politicly acute response was to set the minimum wage (via a "low pay commission") so low that it didn't really make a blind bit of difference. All they did was top up the wage with taxpayers money. It was genius really, a win, win, win, for them. Labour politicians can tour TV outlets bragging about this great social policy, their client state was expanded and the big business got subsided labour. Meanwhile the gap between rich and poor widened, the taxpayer got screwed, and people are trapped on welfare, whilst working. It's barmy, complete madness. Its not a minimum wage, its a welfare to work scheme .
-
Unbelievable that this happens in a country where the government sets a minimum wage .

Talksport is not as good as it was. Porky was great with Brazil, the only decent co-hosts he has now are Brian Moore and Warnock. Alvin Martin and Ray Houghton are pretty good, but I used to like Lofty from Eastenders show from years ago. That Murray is pony, dire, the midmorning slot is ruined now.Bring back Gaunty and I miss the late great Mike Dickin. In the evening, Sports Bar is dross, Goldstein and Cundy are too juvenile and Bobby Gould's even more of an old fossil than Dave Merrington. Away from Talksport, Claridge is good and I like Keano but can understand that he's not everybody's cup of tea. Garth Crooks FFS, the biggest plum that ever picked up a mike. Nobody else comes anywhere near. Motty needs to **** off and retire. Best anchorman Stelling, best pundits are Gary Neville and Stewart Robson by a mile.

The thought that the worlds 6th largest economy couldn't stand on it's on two feet is complete and utter nonsense. But then the people peddling this nonsense supported the Euro.
-
What a load of nonsense. We had 13 years of a Labour Government , which one of the "social chapter and other rules " would they not have brought in? If the EU is so great for the British working man and has done so much for him in the work place why is Bob Crow so anti EU? Its the normal nonsense we get from pro EU nutters, which ranks alongside "British people wouldn't be able to live in the UK", and my favourite how the EU has ensured years and years of peace in western Europe(hello, Nato anyone). The simple fact of the matter is for every Pole, Bulgarian and Romania who gets a minimum wage unskilled job, that's one less job for the British working man. It also seems rather bizarre and a touch racist that we have open door "anyone can come" immigration from Germany France and Holland , but limit African, Asian and Caribbean citizens. And it really is insulting to lefties everywhere to think that a Labour government wouldn't have brought all the social chapter protections in regardless of the EU.
-
If you listen to the EU federal nutters (the same ones that urged us to take up the Euro), if we left, not one Brit would be allowed to live in the EU and all our companies would cease trading with the EU. It is clearly nonsense designed to frighten the population and to try and paint the opponents of "ever closer union" as Little Englanders. Will they get away with it? Maybe, they did last time. Even if they don't their standard response, as the French and Irish found out ,will be "vote again".
-
Milliband , we are told has a 35% strategy. That is , the electrol maths mean that labour will form a majority with 35%. Clegg is attempting a 10% strategy here, he's trying to appeal to the 10% of the population that are euro federal loons, who won't vote labour. Cleggy has nothing to lose, as he's lost it all anyway. Nigel needs to do two things in this debate. Appeal to blue collar labour voters and smash Cameron's referendum con.Taking cleggy apart is the easiest part, the blokes a busted flush. The lib dumbs had election leaflets calling for a straight in/out vote, and then there's the tuition fees farce. I think labour have missed a trick here, if milliband takes part it leaves Cameron looking really bad, and it'll be two onto one, cleggys finished and milli band could hoover up some lib/dumb votes.

So you want the Government to decide what people can charge to rent their house out?
-
How on earth is making a fortune out of renting houses getting "something for nothing"? It's not the private landlords fault that there aren't enough council houses or that the Government pay housing benefit. They are spending their own money or borrowing money at commercial rates to provide a service. If nobody rents their houses, they go tits up. What do you want Pap, laws that say you can only buy a house to live in it. The simple truth is that if demand outweighs supply and the market is distorted by Government paying people's rent for them via housing benefit, then the outcome will be people making fortunes out of the rented sector. If you make owning property to rent out too expensive, you're going to shrink supply even more.

This bit made me laugh. "Well we had people experienced in running a club & they were a total facking disaster. Some of the stuff going on behind the scenes now shows that these "clowns" in some respects are doing a far better job running PFC. The two major mistakes so far IMO has been appointing GW & RB." It's like "what have the romans done for us" in reverse. Apart from appointing the wrong manager both times, they're doing well

Is Miley Cirus on the verge of some sort of break down?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Batman's topic in The Lounge
I don't think she had to "resort" to getting them out, it wasn't a ploy for publicity or to cover up her inadequate voice. In the documentary "20 feet from stardom" (which was about black female singers) she just sighed and laughed when asked about it (in 2013). The point is, she was sexy without even trying. From Madonna onwards they try way too hard. Just sing and if you're hot, that'll come through. You can do all the rubbing around and bending over you like, but look at this clip, there isn't a red blooded man alive who cant think that Claudia's the hottest tambourine player ever seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcPTGVQBOMQ -

In an age of sexual equality females seem to think that girl power is allowing men to perv at them and act like cheap sluts. Back in the days when DLT could legitimately goose some young bird , female singers like Carole King, Mavis Staples, Rita Coolage ECT could really sing and didn't have to put on a soft porn show. Girl power, my arse . A lack of talent means they have to resort to this sort of shiete. They're more owned and used by men then they've ever been. Claudia lennear may have got her tits out for playboy, but at least she had a great voice. And dont get me started on Mrs Cole. -
Don't be silly, the lefties are in denial. They'll be along soon with selective figures and quotes to show how wicked the Tories are and how its not really a recovery.

I just got mine online and no "ticket tax". Question is, is this a **** up or another NC policy being relaxed?

The real reason that we sacrificed the cups...
Lord Duckhunter replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
If MP wasn't botherd about winning the game, why did he bring Morgan and JRod on? The simple truth is that a lot of foregin managers and players dont give a shiny shiete about the cup, the FA cup is now viewed exactly the same as the overseas ones. Its all well and good banging on about it, but 17k people told its own story, as did our gates in previous rounds. Last year I went to the Chelsea game and there were no regular st holders anywhere near me. People dont care about it, until we go out, then all of a sudden its a big deal. I feel sorry for the guys who went up there, but they shouldn't have been surprised by the side (although the performance must have shocked them). At the end if the day MP didn't want us to lose, but would rather lose that game than ANY league game. Forget all this pony about it enhancing his repuation abroad by winning the cup, its nonsense. Finishing above Man Utd and Newcastle will get him more credit abroad than a cup win. Until a champions league place is on offer, the cup will never regain its appeal . And unless we have a manager like Adkins or a similar "dreamer" the league will always take priority. End of. -

Barry Sanchez 16 - Happy Clappers 0

If Bazz has 16 points, a"bit" of a knob must be worth 4. -
I agree with this, although it would be funny as **** and they may even do a Luton and stay down for a while. Momentum is a big thing and if they did storm the conference, could see them going right through league 2 in one go. Grubbing around like Plymouth for a few seasons will really depress them and knock the fight out of all but a few deluded half wits.

Ludicrous team selection. Utter madness.
Lord Duckhunter replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
When are people going to wake up and smell the coffee, the FA cup doesn't mean a thing to a lot of people in the game and supporters. The gate shows that today, the performance of the players shows that today and the side both managers picked showed that. Its finished , gone, its like the Rolling Stones a nostalgia trip for the over 40's. Nobody wants the reward that comes with it, particularly in a world cup year. The premeirship is the be all and end all of everything. People like Rickie and lallana can go on about it, how important it is, but its just talk. The difference in attitude and application today was stark. Does anybody really think the players were busting a gut to get a reply? Not a chance they went out hoping to win, rather than dying to win.
