  1. Strange game in that nobody was particularly poor, but we didn't play that well. Soft goal to give away and then moved the ball too slowly to really get amongst them, until the last 20. I thought fonte had one of his best games at this level and not just because of the goal, I thought he did well all round. I thought the turning point was the off side goal, and not getting an early equaliser. It was always going to be tough once they settled down and held on for a 1-0 or 1-1.
  2. If he's head and body were ahead, its off side. Mason was average , both ways. His biggest mistake was not sending off Osvaldo . Blatant kick out was a yellow and most refs (including Webb) would have produced a second yellow for that tackle soon after. As for the other debatable incidents. Lallana clearly handled the ball before making a meal of a nothing contact . rameriez was fouled but maybe the theatrical fall went against him. Personally I much prefer masons honest bumbling than "hair weave" clattenburg and baldy webbs " look how important I am " style of refereeing.
  3. I can see a case for Carroll and would imagine woy sees him ahead of Rickie. What srl has managed to do is give woy a viable alternative, whereas previously it was Carroll or no big man. He's got more if a chance than he had 5 weeks ago and that's a positive.
  4. I manage a lot of minimum wage guys and despite the company not recognising any union every single worker is entitled to join a union and be represented by them in any disciplinary or grivence meeting. There is absolutely no chance of them being treated any differently or forced out for wishing to join a union. HR will be there to see to that. Protection from poor working practises are by and large covered by employment legislation.
  5. Anyone can join and be represented by a union, and has the right to union representation at disciplinary. A company not recognising unions make no difference at all. A very narrow group of employees have no union rights the vast majority of workers can join a union and the union can help that individual.
  6. I see Osman and Davidson face no further action due to insufficient evidence. Davidson still faces Falkland islands stuff though. Completely unrelated , I wonder if there will be anyone charged with wasting police time or similar offence by the end of the whole process. Statistically surely there will be some malicious accusations made.

  8. This has to be one of the most erroneous posts ever posted on here. HR are there to ensure that companies act within the law and in a fair and consistent manner. They protect profits by ensuring that people who are sacked have no chance of winning any subsequent tribunal. In my experience if HR OK a sacking its pretty watertight. 9 times out of 10 they'll advise stepping back from dismissal.
  9. This is the key as far as I'm concerned. Some of my guys quote the rule book all the time, take the **** and generally act like barrack room lawyers for the rest of the team. These people I stick to the letter of the companies policy. Don't ring in at the correct time, no pay treated as AWOL. To me they can't have it both ways, want to tell me what I can and can't make you do, want to do the bare minimum and have no flexibility, then I'll play the same game. Most of my guys are great, they work hard, are flexible and are a credit to the company. These people I would let them take holiday, have care leave or make their time up. Now it maybe that the op is in the second category, but that his manager has a policy to follow. For consistency I would have to investigate every case before making my decision. It was after an investigation that I would treat the decent people fairly and the tossers by the rule book. Managers discretion only applies after every case is investigated and standard letters sent.
  10. People who say booze and cigs cause more damage may well be right, but that's beside the point. If they were a new "invention" then clearly they'd be prohibited, but they're not. Maybe the day will come when fags are, but it'll never happen with booze. Any prohibition will be unenforceable. Not being able to ban existing legal vices does not mean we should allow any others.
  11. Personal issues , I just wonder what sort of personal issues get in the way of a bloke from London playing in Southampton. Larry David in the wonderful"curb your enthusiasm" uses personal issues to get out of things he doesn't want to do. Nobody is rude enough to ask Larry what they are. Personal issues for puncheon and he gets the forums backing, throwing his toys out the pram cause he's not playing and he's a knob.
  12. Bearing in mind our chant of, "we sing our own songs" hadn't we better start rewriting all our songs instead of concentrating just on the new guys. I find our chants as original as the monkees. Any sort of originality would be most welcome.
  13. I'm in Cyprus, watched srl notch weds from the same bar, so fingers crossed. Just heading up there now
  14. Unskilled wages won't rise. Why on earth would they when there will be a influx of eastern Europeans prepared to do dirty unskilled work for more money than they can earn at home?
  15. A summary of the article was; Loads of historic important stuff skipped and binned by previous regimes, rescued by staff. Old photos, contracts, some antique boat thing from 1948. Lots of praise for hall and others. All hnw individuals supporters bar one. One supplier would rather burn goods on bonfire than ever supply to them again. Horrific overspends on mobile phones etc, shop a shambles. Plus loads of sucking up to PST, supporters and players (all turned up at some fans day or some ********. Headline was "Portsmouth rescue heritage from bin."
  16. Big article on my times for tablet today. Mostly favourable them, but one interesting snippet. It says charities to be repaid out of next months parachute payments, "correcting one of the shameful episodes". I thought the fans had rallied round and done that already, or was that another myth.
  17. I have nothing against gays, why should I . They're just like anyone else. Not everybody fancies the same types. I think mrs duck is hot, some of you may think she's a *****r. Some blokes fancy blokes, some fancy fat birds, some fancy older ones. The way I have always looked at it, the more gays there are the less competition for the ladies (especially as a lot of them are better looking than me). I do however, have something against fry. He's about as funny as a dose of the clap and I dont buy this bumbling upper class John le messieur act. He says take the games to Utah. What if someone writes a letter about Guantanamo, where to next. We'll end up having all sporting events in Luxembourg or some other non offensive country.
  18. I suggest that anyone who thinks we have a better midfield than man utd keep it to themselves when discussing football with neutrals. Cork is an average mid table premiership player (as is Davis) Wanyama hasn't actually played a game yet , Rudi anyone. Which leaves MS. Had a pretty decent season, MAY go on to better things, but Davie M didn't get the job by doing things like replacing Carrick with MS. If Carrick became available he'd linked with your Chelsea's and Arsenals, not to mention Spurs, Everton and others above us in terms of size and pedigree. If our midfield is better than utd's why is nobody seriously in for them. Do saints web posters know more than professional managers and scouts?
  19. It's a great story, there aren't too many fairy tale's in football nowadays but this is one. I'm sure Woy is just picking him cause Carroll's injured, but if he can get some good training sessions under his belt, Woy maybe surprised how good and tactically clever he is. Do that and he may get a run out weds. Play with heart, passion and maybe knock one in,and he'll win over the fans. That'll make it easier for Woy to pick him again. I get the feeling Woy wants a big man option up top, Carroll's in the box seat, solely cause of his age, but Rickie's in with a sniff. If he has a great season and ends up in a world cup squad in brazil, wow that'll be a story even hans christian Anderson couldn't have written.
  20. Clearly the site is going to reflect football supporters. Football supporters come in all shapes and sizes and have differing opinions. One poster's wum is another posters "good laugh". Some people will be attracted to the serious type discussion and others to the frivolous. You not going to be able to please everyone and a balance is pretty hard to reach. Personally, I like discussing music politics and other stuff with football supporters ie pretty normal blokes who aren't obsessed with the subjects, but have an opinion , often different. I would imagine a political or musical forum would be too serious, so enjoy a bit of chat on here. When it comes to football discussion I prefer memories, help (ie best pub) and the occasional moan. I'm not really bothered with in depth tactical or serious talk. But that's just me. I find some of the Muppets funny and others not so. If a thread gets boring I stop reading it. For the price of a pint and a half a year, I think its worth it. At the end of the day, how on earth can the mods please everyone who signs up? Because we all want different things out of the forum. When you look at some of the others around not606 for example , its just like a load of mates on Facebook all pressing the like button and having one big love in. This sites nowhere near perfect, but its not as bad as some make out. Why let people get to you, they dont know you, you dont know them. Put them on ignore and move on.
  21. This isn't ****ing X Factor. What do you think NA & MP did, say "he's not good enough" without even looking at him, watching videos ect ect. What do you want, any player that played during our rise through the leagues given an audition in front of Les, MP & Nicola. He's had a chance, he's been a professional footballer for a number of years, has played for the club and trains with the club. The people who pick the team don't think he's good enough, that's it, end of, fininto.
  22. Let's say here in the UK we followed Caroline Lucas and the sandal wearers advise fully. Let's say that us and our wonderful EU partners did exactly what she said 100%. Does anyone seriously believe it'll make a blind bit of difference. We seem to be wasting a lot of money on **** all, and guess whose getting rich, climate change scientists and the green lobby. No wonder 98% of them agree, they don't want to kill the cash cow.
  23. Wasn't there once an ice age? Hasn't the climate been changing since the world existed? If we all lived in windmills, went round on push irons rather than cars, stopped flying, stopped industry and started wearing sandals , would the climate stop "changing"?
  24. What if one of the other 4 games is postponed? it won't be our 5th game , but will be the 5th week of the Barclays Premier league, what should we call it then. I dont want to make a social faux pas whilst discussing football with collagues at work. I can't let saints fans down.
  25. FFS, I've been a Muppet show lurker for a while, always good for a laugh and great for looking at pussy, particularly when doing shifts. But tonight ,ffs scoobs , how's a man supposed to get his kicks looking at that. What an ugly trout. I would obviously, but I dont want to look at pictures of her ffs.
