As it stands, do we have a better midfield than Utd?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
I suggest that anyone who thinks we have a better midfield than man utd keep it to themselves when discussing football with neutrals. Cork is an average mid table premiership player (as is Davis) Wanyama hasn't actually played a game yet , Rudi anyone. Which leaves MS. Had a pretty decent season, MAY go on to better things, but Davie M didn't get the job by doing things like replacing Carrick with MS. If Carrick became available he'd linked with your Chelsea's and Arsenals, not to mention Spurs, Everton and others above us in terms of size and pedigree. If our midfield is better than utd's why is nobody seriously in for them. Do saints web posters know more than professional managers and scouts? -
Rickie Lambert called up for England
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in Golden Posts
It's a great story, there aren't too many fairy tale's in football nowadays but this is one. I'm sure Woy is just picking him cause Carroll's injured, but if he can get some good training sessions under his belt, Woy maybe surprised how good and tactically clever he is. Do that and he may get a run out weds. Play with heart, passion and maybe knock one in,and he'll win over the fans. That'll make it easier for Woy to pick him again. I get the feeling Woy wants a big man option up top, Carroll's in the box seat, solely cause of his age, but Rickie's in with a sniff. If he has a great season and ends up in a world cup squad in brazil, wow that'll be a story even hans christian Anderson couldn't have written. -
Clearly the site is going to reflect football supporters. Football supporters come in all shapes and sizes and have differing opinions. One poster's wum is another posters "good laugh". Some people will be attracted to the serious type discussion and others to the frivolous. You not going to be able to please everyone and a balance is pretty hard to reach. Personally, I like discussing music politics and other stuff with football supporters ie pretty normal blokes who aren't obsessed with the subjects, but have an opinion , often different. I would imagine a political or musical forum would be too serious, so enjoy a bit of chat on here. When it comes to football discussion I prefer memories, help (ie best pub) and the occasional moan. I'm not really bothered with in depth tactical or serious talk. But that's just me. I find some of the Muppets funny and others not so. If a thread gets boring I stop reading it. For the price of a pint and a half a year, I think its worth it. At the end of the day, how on earth can the mods please everyone who signs up? Because we all want different things out of the forum. When you look at some of the others around not606 for example , its just like a load of mates on Facebook all pressing the like button and having one big love in. This sites nowhere near perfect, but its not as bad as some make out. Why let people get to you, they dont know you, you dont know them. Put them on ignore and move on.

This isn't ****ing X Factor. What do you think NA & MP did, say "he's not good enough" without even looking at him, watching videos ect ect. What do you want, any player that played during our rise through the leagues given an audition in front of Les, MP & Nicola. He's had a chance, he's been a professional footballer for a number of years, has played for the club and trains with the club. The people who pick the team don't think he's good enough, that's it, end of, fininto.

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
Lord Duckhunter replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
Let's say here in the UK we followed Caroline Lucas and the sandal wearers advise fully. Let's say that us and our wonderful EU partners did exactly what she said 100%. Does anyone seriously believe it'll make a blind bit of difference. We seem to be wasting a lot of money on **** all, and guess whose getting rich, climate change scientists and the green lobby. No wonder 98% of them agree, they don't want to kill the cash cow. -

Wasn't there once an ice age? Hasn't the climate been changing since the world existed? If we all lived in windmills, went round on push irons rather than cars, stopped flying, stopped industry and started wearing sandals , would the climate stop "changing"? -
What if one of the other 4 games is postponed? it won't be our 5th game , but will be the 5th week of the Barclays Premier league, what should we call it then. I dont want to make a social faux pas whilst discussing football with collagues at work. I can't let saints fans down.

FFS, I've been a Muppet show lurker for a while, always good for a laugh and great for looking at pussy, particularly when doing shifts. But tonight ,ffs scoobs , how's a man supposed to get his kicks looking at that. What an ugly trout. I would obviously, but I dont want to look at pictures of her ffs.

Can't see the value myself, only 2 go down. I just can't see it (unfortunately).

Agreed, Euro camp pricey though. We've done them all key camp , euro camp, haven , eurosites ( gone bust now) & canvas. Best value for mobile are canvas. Montpellier to Spainish border the best area we found. Great hols with little ones, we took all 4 of ours, the first time the youngest was 4 months. I would stikl go, but mrs duck wants more luxery now there's only 2 left at home.Doesnt like the work, reckons its no holiday for mrs. kept moaning about washing up the plates ECT after BBQ's , ffs I did the hard bit, cooking and entertaining the surrounding caravaners. I miss it, great laugh and met some great families.

Has everyone not been charged a fee? I wasn't on first day, but my mate got one today and reckons he was .

FFS , he is a half decent player. Just because Redknapp signed him does not make £8 million too much money. What makes it too much money is the allegations hanging over him. IF and its a ****ing big if, we could negotiate a loan deal with an option to buy if he's cleared, and a cancellation if he's guilty, it would represent a half decent deal, or a free with a realease clause if found guilty, so he costs FA. Unless qpr do some sort of deal , they're going to get lumbered with him as as you'll be completely off your head to pay any sort of money for him.
-
No he's not. He's a championship player and they're a championship club.

When we were bringing up the Children my Mrs had a bank contract with the NHS set at 0 hours. She told them when she could work around my job and they scheduled her in accordingly. Had this type of contact not been available, she would have had no work and the NHS would have lost a damn fine midwife.

Kept doing that for me, tried about 6 times before it finally worked, so keep going. I also tried to pay on my debit card and it wouldn't let me. I know there's money in there cause it's payday. Worked with Credit card, so if you're using debit may be worth trying credit.

Agreed, Now could the 110 people in front of me in the queue **** off and try again later, I worked all night and need to get some sleep.

Carl Radle & Jim Keltner were two of Tulsa's finest from that era as well. I was reading Bobby Keys' autobiography ( a great read for old farts) and he had a whole section about how talented the guys from Tulsa were.

Spot on, the man was cool , as Tony Parsons said today his motto was "slower baby". As much as I admire Eric Clapton and The Stones Ect , American music has the authenticity, it is the real deal. Clapton's version of "After Midnight" although good, just doesn't quite cut it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IZ9feKpJkk

We lost one of the most under rated musicians and songwriters at the weekend RIP JJ Cale.

I just spoke to a women in the ticket office, I was questioning that none of my away games were showing on my transaction history. She said that they had a record their end, not convinced I asked her which games I had been to and she said 8 (which was correct). She assured me that their system was robust it was just that we couldn't see it our end. I wasn't convinced, but I guess I'll see on wedsnesday.

I'm from Southampton, but the old mans work took us away when I was a school kid. Never moved back, but luckily the old man used to bring me back to the dell . Have 4 children who are all Saints supporting despite never having lived there. They get a bit of stick from some of the locals as to why they don't support Bournemouth, but who cares. I once took my birth certificate into work to prove I supported my home city, as some of these locals can be real Muppets. I guess its because there's so many man U, Chelsea and Liverpool supporters walking round Poole.

Adam Lallana - has he flattered to deceive?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
He's an average premier league player and would do a job for us, Norwich, Fulham, Sunderland ECT. He's not going to get into a top 6/7 premiership side, but could get into any other squad. I find him frustrating, goes over way too easy, poor delivery and poor at offering full back cover, but can show glimpses of great ability. His lack of pace means that at this level he's not going to have the impact he did in other leagues. All in all , I've seen a lot worse play in the premiership and it would be fantastic if he stayed a one club man. So although he's not quite top quality, he's certainly a decent option and seems a decent lad. -
