Another baseless "fact" based on your political opinions. The only way to judge what people think of party leaders is opinion polls and Farage polls higher than Clegg or Milliband. You may think that Farage is a bigoted buffoon but believe it or not that doesn't mean "people" do. I think Ed Balls is an incompetent numpty, that the Green party are a bunch of loons and that Ed Milliband is trying to con the public, perhaps I'll post that "people" view them the same as me. I'm sure there are people out there that agree, but that doesn't make it true for me to post "that's why people think Ed Milliband is a con man".

I wonder who the beloved pop star helping yewtree officers with their enquires is. Somebody who likes young ones, no doubt.

Adam's a cert if he keeps playing like this. Rickie , im 50/50 on this, depends on carrol really. I reckon woy prefers Carroll and the past couple of seasons lamberts struggled towards the end. Osvaldo going has given him a boost, but reckon he'll need to whack a few in . Jrod has done fantastic after that soul destroying debut. Must be a real feather in his cap that he's worked harder and got over it well. Depends on injuries really, all he can hope is he gets the call for the next frendly and impresses . I did think clyne was in with a squeak, but chambers form could do for his England hopes. Shaw won't go unless one of cole or Baines is injured. Cork, no chance.

I think people are forgetting just how good some of lawrie's sides were. Guys like Bally, KK and Shilts weren't just the best players of their era but in the case of Bally and Shilts in particular , amongst the best Englishmen that have ever played the game. Add to the mix people like Dave Armstrong,Mark Wright , and not forgetting the greatest saints player MC. Lawries sides were also entertaining and the youngsters were on a par with todays. I'm not deriding the modern side as they're certainly the best since lawries day, but man, there were some fantastic football played back then. Its hard to judge older era players against todays, but Ball and Williams trumps Morgan and Cork , Shilts is head and shoulders above AB, Mick would walk into this side. Im not sure who from this era would get into lawries best side, maybe Lovren and Adam the way he's played this season. Lets just hope we can get a few more years out of most of the guys, they win something and go on to become even better then Lawrie' s . Its certainly the best feeling being a saints fan since the great man left .

Typical of the "it's not racist to discuss immigration..............but" brigade. Make up complete and utter nonsense that the "typical " UKIP supporter doesn't want darkies in the country. UKIP actually want to treat everybody equally regardless of nationality. It is the people who scream "racist" that want to treat Europeans ( who are in fhe vast majority white ) differently than Africans and Asians.
-
The only person on this thread that is not having a proper debate is you. The only person using emotive language is you. It is so typical of your side of the arguement , your line seems to be " you can discuss it without being racist, provided you agree with me" . Of course you have to throw in the obligatory Daily Mail remark. In fact the only things missing from your leftie handbook of discussing immigration is some facts around how good immigration has been for the country and how hardly any immigrants claim benefits. I often watch QT playing "immigration bingo" awaiting the standard responses and cries of "it's not racist to discuss immigration......but". My view is very simple, every immigrant that gets a job, particularly in the minimum wage sector, it is one less job available for a British person. That seems to me to be an indisputable fact. Therefore, our government should decide the level of immigration into this country and the rules around who can work and what skill base or independent wealth they should have. Therefore if the British people feel that too much has taken place, or indeed too little , and this is having a negative effect on growth and prosperity then the British people can throw the governing party out. I apply this to all races equally, unlike the Labour party who do distinguish between races and nationality. Surely the UKIP postion of work permits for all nationals is less racist than a points system for Africans,Pakistanis, and Asians and nothing at all for Germans,Irish and French nationals. If ukips position was that Canadians, Australians and new Zealanders could come and go as they please, but johhny foreigners from India, Sri Lanka and Gambia had a points system imposed on them, im sure you'll soon be starting a thread about it, with a link to the daily mail thrown in.

Enjoyable day out, the best London trio imo. Decent pubs, bricklayers, coat and badge and jolly gardener the pick of them (and we did a few). Downside was the trains were too ****ing packed and the whetherspoons opposite station was a joke, **** I thought Mrs duck was slow with the old breakfast, but they were Danny Fox slow. Shame if they go down, so much better day out than the new grounds and dumps like Upton park. Hope they stay uo, will make a nice Aug bank holiday game.

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
Lord Duckhunter replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
I reckon what ever the weather patterns over the next 10 years it'll be down to man. If the rain fall is higher than the previous 10 years it'll be down to man. If its lower, it'll be man again. If it stays the same it'll be a "pause". Same with temp, up man, down man, same pause. Everything is down to man, and the con is you can't take a contradictory position. When people like Jim Jones said the world was going to end on x date and it didn't, he loses credibility. When All Gore says by 2013 the north pole will be ice free and the sea levels would rise 20 feet, the establishment don't go to him and say "so Al, what a crock of sheite" they say " we need to redouble our efforts". Perhaps a tree hugger could post a climate change experts scientific evaluation of where we'll be in the next 10 years, we could then close this thread and comeback in a decade and see if he was right. If he was , I'll freely admit I was wrong, but to just bla,e whatever the weather is on man is just nonsense. There was climate change before man, I believe. -
Last years window signing did well.
-
One benefit of not signing anyone in the window is our plebs dont get to jump around like helmets in front of SMS on national TV. How on earth losing fox, martin and other fringe players is "weakening" our squad is beyond me. The only loss that weakened the squad was Osvaldo and as he was suspended for banjoing a loyal and well liked first 11 player, I don't see how anyone can argue with getting rid of him. Perhaps there was nobody available that the club wanted to replace him with. One thing for sure that had MP desperately wanted a signing and it was refused the papers would have had a sniff. According to most media Nicola was moving SRL on to west ham, so to keep him,Shaw and Corky, will do for me.
-
I watched QT last night and something confused me. All guests blamed man made climate change and that's why we need to cut emmisons blah blah blah. But some came out with this " made your bed better lie in it" line, live on flood plains, get flooded , get over it. They don't seem to realise you can't have it both ways. If man has made the flooding worse, then people should be compensated. You can't call it an act of god on one hand and man made climate change on the other.

Come on, have some respect for the wet fannies football knowledge. I haven't got a clue if Norwich's 4th choice centre back is better than jos, whether crystal palace's back up left back is any good or who the **** is in hull's squad. The wet fannies obviously know, so hats off to them.
-
How do you know they've strengthened are you mystic ****ing Meg? Before a balls been kicked you've worked out that every buy in the window strengthens each side. Forget Andy grey coming back, BT should employ you. I bet you were one of the clowns who was wetting their pants when the Delgado video was played, he really strengthened us didn't he?
-
For the old farts out there. Never really been a massive ELO fan, but saw a documentary on Jeff Lynne. I only watched it for the George Harrison stuff, but found it quite interesting. Evidently he has re recorded all the old hits, playing all the instruments and all the vocals to give it a modern "feel". Decided to check it out, and it was pretty good. I was surprised as I found myself singing along and getting a bit nostalgic. For a sixty something he's got a great voice and is obviously highly talented. If you're an old bastard, it's well worth a listen. The album has all the strings on , but he did a fantastic acoustic piece on the documentary. [video=youtube;6-7vfDbkDhU]

I think he's Fox and we've seen the last of him. He's now on the Forest forums.
-
Spot on, It was also the situation we got ourselves in under Lowe. If he had £10mil to spend , he'd have spent it on 4 players. We have seen that identifying the right target and then going big on them strengthens the team. Lovren & Victor walked straight in and not only strengthen the 11, but the bench. Our back up became Cork & Yoshida, under Lowe we'd have bought 4 players at the same level as Cork & Yoshida. The gamble of Osvaldo didn't work, but on paper he's an Italian international that should have strengthened the side.

Who gives a shiny sheite where Heineken is brewed, id rather drink a pint of flood water than that crap. I find the lack of understanding and compassion towards people who are suffering in the floods disgraceful . There was even a labour mp who shouted out "teach them to swim" during questions in the house. What a difference there would be if labour supporting cities were flooded and their voters had to swim down the dole office and to buy their booze and fags, all the lefties would be overdosing on compassion.
-
The difference is the players you've named performed before their brushes with referees , fans or whatever. Lets not forget this chump was a ****ing let down BEFORE the incident with Jose. All I keep hearing or reading was how good he is ECT . Not in a saints shirt, he wasn't. He was poor, with a poor attitude. I would have shipped him out this Jan regardless of whether he banjoed Jose. He had every opportunity to do well in the best league in the world, in a side that were flying, and he wasn't up to it. End of.

If someone we've been keeping tabs on suddenly becomes available at the right price, then ok fine. But just trawling around for a centre forward ala Arry is madness. We dont just talk the talk, when it comes to nippers and that sends out a powerful message to the next generation of parents who sit down and decide where their kids go. Having a pathway to the first team has to be a living and breathing thing, not just a set of words. What sends out the message that we're the club to sign for if your young and wanted by all the top teams, filling an Osvaldo sized gap with a Carlos kickaball on loan , or promoting a youngster whose been doing well in the stiffs. What could illustrate this more than when clyne was out during the last window. Instaed of signing a journeyman to fill in, we promoted young chambers and he's come on tremendously. Where would he be in his devolopment if we'd got someone else in? And what do other youth parents and players think when they see him getting a chance.
-
I know for a fact that when they were premier league under Arry they tried to poach a nipper from Boscombe's academy and offered his parents a bung to oil the wheels . It was turned down in the end because the kid didn't want to travel and was happy locally. It was a mate of mines kid and I was party to one of the conversations a head skate honcho had with the dad. At the time they were interested in my nipper, so I had a few dealings with the said skate. ( Mrs duck even let him in the house once, which was bordering on divorce behaviour) .so moaning about it now is a bit rich.
-
When Nicola walked out,who thought we'd get through the window with the manager still in situ and none of our stars gone? Yet some people are still moaning about lack of ambition and penny pinching. Its short termism dinosaurs like fat sam and arry that run around doing this deal and that deal in jan, throwing mud against a wall and hoping some of it sticks. Its like a desperado asking every chick in the night club out, hoping he'll get lucky in the end. I much prefer the Southampton way of steady evolution.

Far better player than Harding ever was or ever will be. There aren't many players that have got this club promoted to the top flight in its long history and fox is one of them. He deserves respect for that and should always be welcomed back at the club and given a decent reception. That season in the championship was fantastic , so thanks for the memories, and good luck.
