It's the world cup, so I've no issue with it being occasionally held in winter. To not do so, would mean certain countries would never have a chance of holding it. The issue here is that this wasn't made clear during the bidding process. I understand that there is some small print in the bid documents which allowed for this change, but everybody had an understanding that this was a june/july world cup. The Arab world is entittled to a world cup ,.and personally I think its great that blatter is willing to make it truly global. However, the underhand corrupt way its been handled stinks.

Its interesting that this scouse guy posted that he'd be tempted to go with a back 3, because this ties in with something that's got me thinking. This morning I listened to The Times podcast, Stewart Robson (who really knows his stuff. ) was talking about Everton. He said that in the summer Roberto Martinez told him he'd eventually go with a back 3 at Everton , because Coleman and Baines were natural wing backs. A discusion the followed around Wigan and their back 3. He said that Martinez played a 3-6-1 turning into a 3-4-3 when they had the ball. Robson said this was unusual because the Italians are the main cheerleaders of 3 at the back and they play it with 2 up top. Basically a 3-5-2. Started me thinking Osvaldo,, Italians , maybe long term this could be the answer to the srl/osvaldo puzzle. Lovren and Yoshida as the wide centre halfs as I beleive they've both played full back , with Jose central. Clyne and Shaw as wing backs with victor, ms and one of lallana (at home) or Davis /cork (away) centrally. Rickie and Osvaldo up top. Wouldn't recommend using it sat, but provided it doesn't mess up the promising centre half partnership we have at present, would be worth working on. I suppose one issue is the back Ups, fox and chambers couldn't do it. Its also worth noting that Martinez has gone with a back 4 so far. I dont know what others think, i would have dismissed it days ago, but Robson and now this Liverpool poster have me thinking.

At least independence will answer the west Lothian question , which labour just ignored for party political reasons.

I would defo go with Stephen Davis in this one. People keep going on about cork, but Davis has been unlucky not to feature this season. Davis ahead of victor and ms, to pressure SG who sits a bit deeper nowadays.Personally, I think if we press them high up the pitch we may get some joy. Sit back and we'll get beat 2 or 3. Let's get amongst them, I think they're due a dodgy performance. I'd go 4-3-1-2, with srl or Osvaldo having to drop in to midfield when they have the ball. Same back 5 Ms, victor, jwp SD Srl , Osvaldo

The stewards spent all game getting our block to sit which didn't help the atmosphere.

By bringing the best out of Jose, its like signing 2 new players. I always think Jose gets over looked when people talk about signings , the million odd we paid for him was great value.

Using statistics to claim that x amount of the population are gay, therefore x amount of footballers are gay is clearly nonsense. Quite a large proportion of the population is black, blacks are fantastic at sport, but I dont recall any black swimmers in any Olympic final in history. Is swimming a racist sport?

We had a bloke who came out at work, and then got all upset cause nobody gave a flying fuvk.

I think a centre mid 3 of cork/Davis , ms and victor look great on paper. The problem is then fitting Lambert and Osvaldo in the formation. Need a centre 3 to pressure SG and stop Liverpool playing through midfield. Personally , I'd go with Davis, behind one of Lambert or Osvaldo, with jwp and al as making up the 5.

I find the guy frustrating, he's obviously got talent but flatters to deceive. Too many little 5-aside passes and touches. Sometimes he needs to be more direct and shoot. Lack of pace is a problem and he does dive, which winds me up. Obviously captain because he came through the ranks and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, provided other show leadership on the pitch. Personally I'm surprised he never seems to get dropped.

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-0 West Ham
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Agreed, it's got to be political that he's made captain. I don't go for all this NC picks the team, but I can think of no other reason he's skipper. Playing wise, he's a fanny. A 5-a-side player, all little triangles, and soft passes. Over-rated IMHO. -
South today's football output is dire. Local radio and tv is an embarrassment, load of middle aged chumps . Im sure partridge was a reality show rather than a comedy. They need to get blokes talking about football who have half a clue, instead of idiots like husband. And dont get be started on Dave "what we dont want to do now is " Merrington. Taylor needs replacing with a decent milf as well.

I reckon my snap dragon would make a good "vision and awareness" coach, she always seems to know what im up to.

"to be fair he is a massive ******" lol.....

Personally, I reckon there was half a dozen Championship strikers who would have seen us over the line, and 2 or 3 that would have won us the league. He's really not that good, as last season proved.
-
Anyone would think we were mid table and went on a reading type run when we signed Billy. The fact is we limped over the line and his tap ins helped ,mind you , any half decent striker would have done the same. In fact had he been a better player, we'd have won the league. Missed peno Blackpool at 0-0 springs to mind.

If Mick Channon can play for the Skates, then Billy Sharp can play for Weds.

The minimum wage is a con job. How can you have a minimum wage that is set so low that you have to top it up with tax payers money? The minimum wage is good for employers, but a terrible deal for the taxpayer. It isn't a minimum wage, it's a welfare for work scheme where multi million pound companies get their pitiful wages subsidised by the tax payer. Now Labour bang on about a "living wage". Surely a minimum wage needs to be a living wage, why set a minimum wage that people cant live on? They wont campaign for an increase in the minimum wage because they know it may cost jobs, exactly the same argument that opponents made against it's introduction. By setting it so low Labour felt good about themselves and boxed the Torys in, business get subsidised Labour and the bloke on the wage doesn't care as it gets topped up. Everybody's a winner except the mug taxpayer.

Brown was a disaster for the country , incompetent even by labour chancellor's standards. Poured money into unreformed public services, neutered frank field, trashed our pensions, sold the gold at rock bottom price, set up the tripartite banking regulation, ran a deficit during boom years, in short a complete and utter **** up of a chancellor and PM. The pictures of him stalking mrs Duffy , hanging around in her garden whilst the worlds press filmed him, was the final nail in this clowns political career. I wouldn't let him run a bath let alone an economy.

Anonymity for defendants until proven guilty?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Minty's topic in The Lounge
If they could prove perjury beyond a reasonable doubt, then she should be charged with it. Its never going to happen in a "he said/she said" case like this. The more important question for me is , would he have faced charges per js -
Has anyone who received " the call" received their tickets yet. Women told me they were being posted out Fri, but I haven't had them yet.

Rickie Lambert - England Qualifiers
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Just on SSN, bloke with team has spoken to Rickie. Said " RL is under no illusion of the task, knows Rooney, Sturridge and wellbeck are coming back in, Lambert also mentioned Andy Carroll when fit ". The guy really seems to have his feet on the ground and is no it going to let any disapointment get to him. -
Rickie Lambert - England Qualifiers
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
He wasn't talking about anyone in particularly, he was just saying that as a team we lacked a cutting edge. Seeing as 3 automatic starters who play in forward positions were missing, it's an entirely valid point. FFS, why is everyone so precious? Had Davie Moyes offered a swap Rooney or Wellbeck for SRL, or Rodgers said Sturridge for Rickie, who on earth would turn it down? -
Rickie Lambert - England Qualifiers
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
He only got his chance because of injuries What he's done is proved to Woy that if needed he won't let his country down. If he's needed again he'll get called up, but if everybody is fit he may miss out. He was never going to play so well that he made himself indispensable, the best he could hope was that Woy considers him an option. A freak set of circumstances opened the door for him, and he didn't let anyone down. However, he's down the pecking order. 6 months ago he wasn't even in the pecking order. He needs to really have a career season this year, he needs to be banging them in week in week out, which can only be good for us.
