All I did was suggest Graham Rix would make a good coach for the skate ladies team and I got banned from the skate section. They really were easy to wind up particularly this Norwegian skate (**** me, he must really have had a fishy smell). Could be a.half decent site, with some banter with other sides. But its a massive clique with the mods thinking they're johnny concrete.

Its a big clique. I got banned for taking the **** out of their skate mate and his love of chick football. Mods are also billy bullshiners, told other posters that id had numerous warnings, when in fact all I was warned about was posting on the skate section. What sort of saints website bans skate baiting?

I was in there as well, cracking pub (apart from all the yellow).Bloody nice Norwich blokes as well, proper ale. Shame I had the leave to go and watch that shiete.

Is anybody still looking for tickets, a mate of mine has 2 going as his car is ****ed and he cant afford to fix it and pay for the train. PM me or post details on here. I'm going on the **** tonight, so wont be on here from about 4pm.

It is the fairest system, but has one massive fault. Everybody ( including me ) is playing the "use my number" game. For example; I couldn't make wba, but because I promised my lad old Trafford this season, made sure that my number was used. Going to Norwich and Liverpool, so should be ok, but wanted to make 100% sure. By allowing my number to attend a match I couldn't, I stopped somebody else having that game on their record. My mate did the same number of aways as I did last year (9) but only 2 were on his number. He was away for city and couldn't get Arsenal, so never really caught up and kept using other guys numbers. It starts to become a bit of a closed shop , but the system drives people to want their numbers used regularly even if they dont go themselves. Personally I think a % of tickets should be kept back for general sale or maybe " linked" games. Eg went to Barnsley, you can have Man Utd priority. Even if its only a small amount, maybe 250 tickets , I think we need to let the occasional awaydayer have a ticket. Some people work and some have limited money but they're still passionate saints fans.

The very fact that he was playing tonight highlights what a disappointment he's been the past year. He really needs to step up to the plate and start putting in decent performances week in, week out.

His achievement was going through the championship in one season. The league 1 promotion was no great managerial feat imo, but getting us into the premier first go was . My opinion is that history will show that was a pivotal achievement that enabled us to push on. Had we not gone up, what would the ml trusts attitude towards the club have been, would NC have lost interest? We should all be grateful for that season and nigels massive contribution to it. That said, could you really see the top players we've signed this year attracted by the "homespun nigelisms" , we needed to move on and NC's ruthless ditching of Nigel will also be seen as the correct thing to do. My gut feeling is he'll become a decent league 1/ championsip manager, but his premiership days are behind him. Why on earth anyone would take pleasure from him struggling is beyond me.

You're right, most clubs dont bother scouting players they just log onto the supporters forum and see how good they are. Had people been more positive about fox, he'd have gone to Bolton. Insted, Dougie freedman checked out saints web and found out he was shiete and pulled out of the deal.

Love the one eyed assessments of the new guy. Why do some football supporters have to resort to hyperbole when describing their own players? If I was a neutral I'd say he did ok, nothing special but ok. He may turn out to be a good player, and he certainly did ok for a first run out with new team mates, but id stop short of calling that half "world class".

I'm under a bit of pressure from mrs duck and thought that I would use the vast knowledge available at saints web to help me out. Basically, I'm sick to death of the all inclusive holidays that mrs duck books for the family. We go to lovely places, Greek islands, Cyprus, ECT and then spend the whole time in the complex. The food is pretty good ( one thing I insist on ) but the drinks, ****ing hell, the lager makes saints ale from a plastic glass taste like a Camra award winning ale , and the wine could easily pass as anti freeze. Its so dire I nearly went tee total last time. Anyway, to get to the point. The mrs has agreed that I can pick our 2014 hols , so would appreciate some suggestions and advice. The reason she likes all inclusive is basically the kids. We have a 14 & 15 year old and she likes the fact they can get food, drink , ice creams at any time, without me moaning that they had one 10 mins ago/spilt the last one / its too expensive ECT ECT. Its also nice for me and mrs to grab something occasionally as well. What I object to is sitting in the same restaurant in the same complex night after night. I like to look about in the evening, see a bit of the town, eat in local places and have a few decent bevys. My idea would be an all inclusive resort/hotel, but in an area where local cusine is reasonably priced. The kids can do their normal, but me and mrs duck can eat out 6/7 times, whilst having the all inclusive to fall back on. My question to the well travelled forum members is, have they done this and is it feasible. Personaly I fancy Portugal, is it cheap to eat out and does anybody have any recommendations. The non negotiables as far as the mrs is concerned are : must have beach access, must be good for teens and must be guaranteed hot weather in late July early august. Doesn't need to be AI , but she would need some convincing if not. I've suggested self catering or b & b with me giving the kids money for food ECT each day, but she reckons im a tight wad and will still count how many they've had . All in all I reckon about 4k for the 4 of us is about what im willing to pay, including food for 10 days. Any suggestions would be greatly received, as I have till September 2nd to decide otherwise its off to another (admittedly nice) Greek, Turkish or Cypriot complex to sit night after night drinking lighter fluid .

I dont think we move the ball quick enough against sides that park the bus at sms. We play in front of them, making it easy for them to put a bank of 4 and 5 and restrict our space. What also costs us is giving away soft goals. We have to score at least 2 against sides that are happy for a point. That's not easy as sides are fit, organised and well drilled. puncheon seems to become the latest player that gets better and better in some posters eyes, once he leaves us. He was here last year, when we throw point after point away.He did ok, but he really isn't as good as some appear to be making out. We've signed players a level above puncheon, we've moved on. He really isn't the answer to this problem.

Saints Catering Lost a few Customers
Lord Duckhunter replied to John Boy Saint's topic in The Saints
If they did a decent pint and served it in a decent timescale, I would have one before , one at ht and one at the end. Throw in an edible pie and it'll be the best part of £15 each home game. Maybe the margin is too small, but I find it strange that they charge admin fees of £1.50, car parking for short stays and yet ignore this revenue stream.Taking beer and pie money out of a football supporters wallet should be like taking candy from a baby, yet the club dont seem to want to make any effort at all. -

Yet Another Goal From A Corner With No One On The Posts
Lord Duckhunter replied to TijuanaTim's topic in The Saints
Its swings and roundabouts, plenty of goals are scored because players don't get off the post quick enough and somebody taps one in from 3 yards following a scramble. Its all about defending correctly, not this system or that. Last season Shaw (I think it was) stayed on the post and allowed Mahoney to scramble in a Wigan equaliser , when had moved off, he would have been caught off side. I would imagine they discuss it with the keeper and with mp being an international centre half , come up with the best solution for this set of players. -
Have you been on the pop as well? He wouldn't have got near Ali in his prime.

Post Match Reaction & MotM: SAINTS 1-1 Sunderland
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Strange game in that nobody was particularly poor, but we didn't play that well. Soft goal to give away and then moved the ball too slowly to really get amongst them, until the last 20. I thought fonte had one of his best games at this level and not just because of the goal, I thought he did well all round. I thought the turning point was the off side goal, and not getting an early equaliser. It was always going to be tough once they settled down and held on for a 1-0 or 1-1. -
If he's head and body were ahead, its off side. Mason was average , both ways. His biggest mistake was not sending off Osvaldo . Blatant kick out was a yellow and most refs (including Webb) would have produced a second yellow for that tackle soon after. As for the other debatable incidents. Lallana clearly handled the ball before making a meal of a nothing contact . rameriez was fouled but maybe the theatrical fall went against him. Personally I much prefer masons honest bumbling than "hair weave" clattenburg and baldy webbs " look how important I am " style of refereeing.

England Moldova Sept 6th. Rickie in squad?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Giordano's topic in The Saints
I can see a case for Carroll and would imagine woy sees him ahead of Rickie. What srl has managed to do is give woy a viable alternative, whereas previously it was Carroll or no big man. He's got more if a chance than he had 5 weeks ago and that's a positive. -
I manage a lot of minimum wage guys and despite the company not recognising any union every single worker is entitled to join a union and be represented by them in any disciplinary or grivence meeting. There is absolutely no chance of them being treated any differently or forced out for wishing to join a union. HR will be there to see to that. Protection from poor working practises are by and large covered by employment legislation.
-
Anyone can join and be represented by a union, and has the right to union representation at disciplinary. A company not recognising unions make no difference at all. A very narrow group of employees have no union rights the vast majority of workers can join a union and the union can help that individual.

I see Osman and Davidson face no further action due to insufficient evidence. Davidson still faces Falkland islands stuff though. Completely unrelated , I wonder if there will be anyone charged with wasting police time or similar offence by the end of the whole process. Statistically surely there will be some malicious accusations made.

This has to be one of the most erroneous posts ever posted on here. HR are there to ensure that companies act within the law and in a fair and consistent manner. They protect profits by ensuring that people who are sacked have no chance of winning any subsequent tribunal. In my experience if HR OK a sacking its pretty watertight. 9 times out of 10 they'll advise stepping back from dismissal.

This is the key as far as I'm concerned. Some of my guys quote the rule book all the time, take the **** and generally act like barrack room lawyers for the rest of the team. These people I stick to the letter of the companies policy. Don't ring in at the correct time, no pay treated as AWOL. To me they can't have it both ways, want to tell me what I can and can't make you do, want to do the bare minimum and have no flexibility, then I'll play the same game. Most of my guys are great, they work hard, are flexible and are a credit to the company. These people I would let them take holiday, have care leave or make their time up. Now it maybe that the op is in the second category, but that his manager has a policy to follow. For consistency I would have to investigate every case before making my decision. It was after an investigation that I would treat the decent people fairly and the tossers by the rule book. Managers discretion only applies after every case is investigated and standard letters sent.
