  1. You’re not sure of the point being made, then make the same point 😂😂 Martin got this job on the back of the way he played at Swansea. Had he got promotion playing a long ball game, it would have been better for Swansea, but not for his career. Souness’ point was that this is why managers don’t change, don’t adapt, don’t play a bit more pragmatic if they need to. It’s not about what’s best for their club, but what is better for their career.
  2. I think I’ll go with Souness, rather than someone who seems incapable of grasping the point being made.
  3. He didn’t. Believe it or not, “going all Fat Sam” isn’t a punditry term (although it should be). I guess I thought it was a concise & shorthand version of certain tactics and didn’t account for the forum pedants. His was spot on, as was Wade Garrett, they’re more interested in playing the “right”way than actually doing what’s right for the club. I’ve no doubt Lego would rather finish 4th playing his way, than get it in the mixer every time & finish second. The way football is, it’ll be better for his career.
  4. Everton would have gone down if Baz was in nets instead of Pickford.
  5. Booked Sat, got mine today. Fuck me, couldn’t they make them any bigger? Luckily I’ve got a new pair of trousers to wear on the day.

    Israel

The West Bank wasn’t occupied by Isreal until the 60’s. It was occupied by Transjordan, who at the time denied Israel should even exist. In Western Europe a country could co exist with a neighbour shaped like Israel is, but it makes invasion pretty easy when there’s hostile nations all around you. In places the original 1948 border is 9 miles from the sea. It would be so easy for a hostile force to split the country in two. It could be argued that had isreals neighbours lived beside it in peace from 1948 (as most do now), then maybe they would give up the West Bank. But I realise this is crossing into tit for tat territory. There will never be a Palestinian state acceptable to The Palestinians without the West Bank & they’ll never be a Palestinian state with the West Bank acceptable to the Israelis. That’s the long and short of it. Maybe a few generations from now a Northern Irish type fudge will satisfy both sides, but you & me will be long gone by then.

    Israel

You only have to look at a map to see this will never ever happen. When Isreal was created the West Bank was designated a part of an Arab/Palestinian state, but Jordan occupied it following the 1948 Arab attack on Isreal. militarily & because of the shape of Isreal, it would be madness to allow a hostile enemy that footprint, which is why Israel went in during the 6 day war. That’s even before you take into account the importance of Jerusalem to Israeli’s from a cultural & religious point of view. You could have a new isreali government committed to a 2 state solution, but I can’t believe that would include The West Bank, never ever going to happen.
  8. You can thank FPP for that, it’s done exactly what it was intended to do. Spiked Newcastle’s guns so they couldn’t spend big even after champions league qualification (which is what’ll happen to Villa), now looks like Chelsea will need to sell assists to comply, hampering their development. If someone wants to chuck money at a club, like City did, they can’t. If they could, it would be more competitive.
  9. Wealdstone details Hi we are now open if you would like to use our facilities for the play off final please use the link if you wish to do so https://wfcsc.co.uk/wembley-fan-zone/ Cheers James
  10. This could be a job where the pony “football philosophy” is illustrated. Lego is probably a better fit if they want to play a certain way, even though McKenna has done a better job this season. The fact he’s devised a system & style to suit the players and found a style to get them out of the league they’re in, counts for fuck all. It’s all about your spread sheets, philosophy & score on the hipster chart. Souness summed it up this week. Said he could see Kompany replacing Pep despite being relegated, whereas has he gone all Fat Sam but kept them up, he wouldn’t get a sniff.

“There’s not a lot of deep thought happening”. Hear bloody hear. https://x.com/RichardHanania/status/1792272654755586219
  12. So Brighton end up 11th. Didnt we have some chumps on here saying they were achieving more than we did & could replace leaving players and managers better than we did.
  13. Yes, you will need to. I imagine he’ll have to log into his account and buy via that, not sure you can buy his membership via your account, but stand to be corrected. One thing for sure, you won’t be able to get one for him in the membership window if he’s not a member even if you are.

  16. Thinking pursuing smuggler leaders will stop the trade is akin to claiming locking up all drug dealers will stop drugs being sold. If you lock one smuggling gang leader up, all you do is create a vacancy which will soon be filled. The only way you stop it, is to stop people paying and you do this by making staying in The EU a far better proposition than risking your life crossing the channel. Ive never believed Rwanda would work, because of soft arsed lefties crying about it and putting obstacles in the way, but the principle of it being a deterrent is right (which is why the EU & even the UN are looking at similar schemes). Anyone seeking asylum via a small boat gets shipped off to some god forsaken place (Scotland ideally, but unfortunate Hadrians wall is obsolete) to have their claim assessed. Maybe an overseas territory, there must be somewhere in the middle of nowhere we can use. We could even set up a token embassy in Calais where people can claim asylum and as a result make crossing the Chanel to do so illegal We can then establish a secure detention centre in some remote part of the uk. So the “asylum seeker” in Calais options are. 1. Stay in the EU and make a life. 2. Apply for asylum to the UK in Calais, but the application will take years as the civil service are fucking useless, and the checks on your identity may take years. You’re in France so there’s no imminent danger to you so you’ll be low priority as you wait it out in The Jungle. 3. Pay to get to the uk on a dangerous Chanel crossing, where you’ll be shipped to some god forsaken hell hole for years whilst your case is slowly assessed. You’ll be at the back of the queue, behind the people who followed the correct procedure in Calais. Obviously, there is a 4th option. You make it to the UK unnoticed and slip into the black economy, as well as a 5th, you drown trying. Which one will they choose?
  17. Laughable, you call Tory members “swivel eyed loons”, then come up with the biggest load of lunatic pony as a solution. Firstly, you won’t get “no parole” for manslaughter. How are you going to even capture these people smugglers, let alone prosecute them. It’s fucking deluded pony. Secondly, you can’t bypass the justice system by convicting people before their defence “can mobilise”. We’re not fucking North Korea, people are entitled to a fair trial. Thirdly, good luck with sending people back to France.
  18. AM is a competent championship keeper, Baz isn’t. That’s the long and short of it.
  19. You can’t leave a seat on its own. So you have to make sure you pick seats on a row that doesn’t leave a single seat once you’ve got yours. It’ll be easy for low numbers, but if you’re trying to book a few it’s a bit harder than it looks
  20. They won’t, there’s a specific mention of errors on the website. Said they won’t change tickets if you’ve got any details wrong. Personally, I’d make the error if I was you, there’s a 99.9999% you’ll get in on OAP ticket, but what’s the point in the minuscule risk of being refused entry over £30 ish
  21. You can in error, because I think that’s what I’ve done. Should have been 5 normal & 1 OAP, but I’ve got 6 normal
  22. God that was stressful. Tried to book 6 but kept getting the dreaded “single ticket” message every time I tried. Had to cancel tickets and start again, only to find less and less 6 available. The more stressed I got, the more I fucked up 😂. Eventually got there, being back overnight queuing
  23. Probably me with a hang over but looking at the stadium plan. Does “Green and light blue safe standing”, mean both areas are safe standing or Green, and light blue which is safe standing.
  24. With AM it’s a lose lose situation imo. Whilst I’d have him in the championship, he’s on premier league type money. If we go up he’s not good enough, if we stay down he’s too expensive. I know people will say “take a pay cut”. But he’s shown this year he seems perfectly happy Sat on his arse most of the season. He’ll get a 2nd or 3rd choice spot with that money, no bother. Baz, I’d bin no matter which league we’re in. New keeper needed.
  25. The save AM made at 1-0 was an important turning point last night. They were in the middle of a spell of pressure & had that gone in, it would have been a completely different story. We’ll never know if Baz would have saved it, but seeing as he rarely keeps those out, my opinion is, no fucking way he saved that. Sad as it is, his injury has made promotion more likely. Hopefully the powers that be will take note & understand a new keeper is required next season.
