Doesn't mean it can't be changed or alternative solutions found - also can see your logic that the Chapel is an option. FWIW I agree with the first poster, away fans behind the goal is not ideal.
  2. What about that bloody great wall they built and the terracotta army? As another poster said, its the Americans who can't buy that stuff
  3. Lowe's best intentions were reserved for his ego and share dividends - I can't recall seeing him at SMS recently so his love for the club is perhaps greatly exaggerated. Granted at least he achieved something with the stadium, unlike Orange Ken who was at best a chancer and at worst a money grabbing cvnt.
  4. Acknowledging the squad was weaker than last year I expected upper mid table still but also I thought we would get out of the Europa League Group - hugely disappointing that we didn't. The FA and EFL cup are a bonus in any season, don't think you can expect anything as the draws can be favourable or vice versa. What I was really expecting though was the continuation of entertaining football, and that has been the biggest let down of all. It shouldn't have done, with European football and a cup semi final, but the season has just felt a bit meh.
  5. Paving the way for his failure and resignation with his reputation intact.
  6. 92nd minute and no player within 5 yards of him...horrific defending.
  7. We've got the best pool of midfielders in the Prem according to Les
  8. Typical Saints. Unless they pay fans to go I can't see many bothering with the replay zzzz
  9. Mr 50p head
  10. Ulrich Van Gobbel and Jelle Van Damme. I thought they were ok but most people thought they were useless.
  11. We shouldn't have taken no for an answer from Howe in the summer - anyone can see he is an excellent forward thinking coach who gets the best out of his players. (Plus his wife doesn't want to move so his options are limited).
  12. Torn, but fundamentally the style of football leaves me cold and I've stopped looking forward to going to matches. As an earlier poster said, when the enjoyment stops what's the point.
  13. A good opportunity for a mutual parting of the ways with all parties saving face.
  14. Yoshida is nowhere near good enough for this league, never has been never will be, a walking liability.
  15. Does he regret saying we had the best midfield in the league..when actually it is now apparent that we a collection of midfielders who all offer nothing different from each other, are largely mediocre and offer no goal threat at all.
  16. What happened to fabled "Southampton Way"...it seems to have forgotten by the PR machine. I truly hope our academy teams are not being forced to play this boring brand of football too.
  17. Home win banker.
  18. I wish I had waited to vote. The football being served up is just bloody boring and has been all season - you would have to be blind not to see that the players aren't enjoying it either. Reed's ego won't allow Puel to be dismissed now but no doubt we will spend nowhere near enough in January and limp on in mediocrity until the summer, when VVD will leave, and who can blame him.

  20. Probably best we are out - would have felt very awkward getting to the final.
  21. Ha ha, he is conspicuous by his absence today.
  22. Pleased for JayRod , what a strike. Davis changed the game. Very good win away at a tough ground. Living near Bournemouth it is great to shut the locals up for a bit, now looking forward to replying to those texts I got at 1-0.
  23. Shortest team selection ever...defending set pieces might be a worry.
  24. The new Southampton Way is impotent football
  25. In November Reed said: "If they go after 80 days, fingers need to be pointed at the people who recruit. "When managers are appointed usually they want lots of changes. They want to bring their own staff, they want money to spend. If you go down that route you are putting everything you have built at risk. "Our manager is a coach. The process is, 'are we the right fit for you, are you the right fit for us?' That is why it goes through several stages." I'm not sure you have got this one right Les. The football is boring, incohesive and the previously much vaunted Southampton Way appears to have disappeared from the club PR. Puel however is not helped by a questionable recruitment policy this summer which has resulted in a squad that lacks quality and pace but includes a midfield who don't look like they have ten goals in them collectively, let alone each. A missed opportunity and fans are rightly asking questions.
