No idea, but if they're saying a net "salary" of EUR 1,900,000 then grossed up it's something like 3,100,000. In GBP that's around 2,700,000, or 52k a week gross. I can't see us committing to that sort of wage in the Champ.

Indeed. And this is, to some extent, an issue for the squad. It's partly why we are so vulnerable against quick transitions / counters. Not his fault at all and I wouldn't try to change his natural game. But, we could do with a proper "protector" to sit in front of the CBs sometimes. Downes doesnt really do that as he likes to move forwards to. BIG problem last season. Romeu.... please! The way the match went yesterday suited us. We could just keep throwing on the attacking players on the bench. But sometimes we'll want to see a game out.

Yeah, for denial of a goal scoring opportunity. So if Stephens is considered reasonably likely to be blocking the shot / making a challenge, plus the tight angle, you could argue it's not a goal scoring opportunity.

The one thing you could potentially say is that it wasn't denial of a goal scoring opportunity, as Stephens was covering and could have blocked the shot. Don't think he even booked him though!

We really need to work on our defensive line. Several times one of them would be several yards out of line with the others. Against a better team we would get punished more. But, that can be coached. Quarshie is clearly a hell of an athlete and I think he'll be a good signing. Let's assume Edwards is much better than he showed yesterday. A decent right back (although Fraser was good yesterday), another attacking midfielder and we're nicely set.
