I read an interesting article the other day that said that even if the commons approves the withdrawal agreement, primary legislation (ie an Act of Parliament) would need to be passed in order for it to be validly entered into. This is is largely due to section 31(5) of the Taxation (Cross Border Trade) Act 2018. This act specifically provides that a customs union with the EU can’t be entered into without primary legislation (whereas other customs unions can be entered into by an Order in Council). This was an amendment made to pacify the ERG last year. There are other pro-hard Brexit amendments scattered around various acts. In other words, if May leaves it too late in presenting Parliament with a take it or leave it choice then even if they “take it”, there’s a risk that a hard Brexit would technically happen by accident. Which would obviously lead to all sorts of potential fun and games.

As I got a bit older, I observed that you could play a Prodigy track at just about any club night - dance, metal, alternative - and you'd get a full dance floor. Great live band with some genuinely iconic tracks. Those two classic albums still sound fresh and much more interesting than most music since.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned much, although haven't read the thread, is that the Smalling foul on Bertrand should have been a red card, as well as a penalty. So we would have been playing against ten men for 80 minutes and would have had around a 75% chance of being 1-0 up. A huge mistake that would almost certainly have been rectified with VAR.
