Sorry but I find that to be completely wrong! His kicking off the deck is much better than his kicking out of hands. If you have the misfortune to sit amongst idiotic duffers who **** themselves every backpass then try really hard to ignore them and watch what actually happens. 9 times out of 10 it is a pinpoint ball on to Lambert's head. Yes, if a backpass puts him under pressure he might whack it out but that's probably sensible. His kicking is better than that of most goalies I see play against us and it's certainly better than Bart's which is barely professional standard at times. If people have criticisms of Davis then fair enough, but this refrain you often hear about his kicking being poor is just plain ill-informed. He may have made one or two mistakes in the past but for the last season and a half it has been very good.

Who says he can't "handle" Punch? If someone's a **** there's not a lot you can do. You either indulge him if he's important enough or you get rid. Looks like we will get rid - we certainly aren't indulging him. What would you like to see Adkins do? Give him a personality transplant?

His kicking is very accurate. Anyone who criticises Davis' kicking doesn't deserve to be taken seriously, especially if they are advocating playing Bart instead.

Given our top-flight history, you would've thought Saints fans, of all people, would understand that sometimes smaller, less resourced teams are capable of upsetting the odds and making things uncomfortable for the bigger boys. Some of the stuff on here is so cretinous it beggars belief.

Davis is far better than Jones on the deck though and, being in the third tier, there is virtually next to no chance of signing anyone even remotely as good as Niemi. As for this worry about crosses: it might be more of an issue if we were constantly under the cosh but seeing as we dominate most of the matches we play in it's hardly a concern. In fact, KD's ability to do jack-**** all match and then pull off a world class save in the 80th minute probably makes him our ideal keeper right now. Look at our defensive record recently; it's very good.
