If Cortese seriously thinks this project (ie the Saints project) will end up in us being a a top 6 Prem side regularly then building a big new stadium is not a bad plan. If we are only going to aim to be a mid-table Prem team then SMS is fine (extended or otherwise). So, if we do start developing a new stadium then happy times IMO. We wouldn't do it unless we were confident of having a team worthy of it.

We were let down in '06 by Ericson's over conservatism and Rooney's red card. In '02 and '98 we were bloody unlucky. In any case, Anderton had a good world cup in 98.
