Seems to me that the notes of caution are largely due to the SA variant and potential future variants. There is doubt how effective the curernt vaccines are against the South Africa variant. This is why some countries were "red listed" even with comparably low case numbers - some of them are countries where the UK suspected the dominant strain doing the rounds was the SA strain. I heard this from a senior official source. They also need to keep a cautious tone to stop people acting like Bacchanalians until this is definitely under control. More spread amongst younger unvaccinated groups equals more chance of nastier strains emerging.

I tend to agree. He can be massively frustrating with his passing and shooting but he is still quick, had a good first touch and finds space better than anyone else in our squad. Two terrible goals to concede. But aside from that we were, generally, rubbish. There's no point doing like-for-like substitutions for average or poor players. You're bringing Redmond and Nlundulu on, not Aguero and Silva. You can't just carry on doing the same thing that has not worked for 70 minutes and hope for the best. I think that was one of the worst performances this season. Several players playing really badly and making stupid mistakes, a few looking knackered or half-arsed and a manager looking spent.

Pretty sure that if we had Romeu and Diallo available then JWP would be covering at RB. Presumably Ralph thought Valery was a defensive liability - and perhaps Stephens to a lesser extent- so has given Bednarek the position but it is does massively stifle us going forwards. If that match wasn't in the context of a long run of defeats then you'd say we held our own, played alright but got undone by the one moment of quality in the match. But seeing as that moment is never coming from us, it's all a bit depressing. I thought Armstrong was our best player. Forster looks confident again. Djenepo did OK and if he had just got that shot on target then we would have scored a lovely team goal. Redmond should be behind Tella, Watts, Chauke, Lee Holmes, Kayne McClaggon, Omar Rowe and Your Mum in the pecking order.
