  1. Maybe his daughter can take over from Kenzie when she starts to go downhill.
  2. A team of Forster, Valery, Salisu, Stephens, Vokins, Diallo, Slattery, Djenepo, Redmond, Nlundulu and Long/Obafemi ought to be plenty good enough to see off a poor League One team. It's not like they are all shrinking violets or kids - half of them are full internationals.
  3. Is this before or after Deutsche Bank collapses?
  4. Just seen another replay of the pen that was given and, actually, it was correct. I thought it hit someone else but there was a deflection off Kamara's arm first, and it was stuck out, so it's a good call.
  5. That shouldn't have been a pen. His arm was in front of his body and didn't make his silhouette any bigger. Lemina had a good game.
  6. Is Turkish really this stupid or is he just trying too hard?
  7. Yeah, he's doing it because of his respect for the justice system and the rule of law. 🤪🤪🤪

Good job our public discourse is measured, intelligent and thorough. Oh.

Yes, of course. Why would you not?
  10. Hardly. He's an adult, albeit a young one, being asked to train and play football whilst having more money than he could ever spend and being given every assistance imaginable to find a place to live, get a phone, travel etc... This is clearly not "settling in". Clearly something is up. Aside from a very serious illness/prognosis I can't think what it could be though. Even if it's some sort of family tragedy or ongoing mental illness I can't imagine being kept out of competitive matches, even youth matches, would help for such a long period. I agree that there's no point seeking to pry into personal affairs but it is odd and it's quite normal for football fans to wonder what the problem is with their big summer signing and to discuss it on a forum. Especially when the coach has previously said he was hoping to have the player playing after an international break which has been and gone. Whatever is up, I hope he gets better soon.
  11. Agree with the people observing that we missed Redmond yesterday. It would have been great to have been able to bring him on instead of Long as he might have actually been able to receive the ball and hold onto it. It was obvious we were going to concede if we didn't keep hold of the ball more. He can be a frustrating player but he's got infinitely superior technique and poise to Long and Walcott. Long seems like a nice chap but his new contract is looking like an utter waste of money, especially if Nlundulu is deemed worthy of a place on the bench. I know we have been playing much more constructive and attractive football this season but I thought we were guilty of over-playing a bit yesterday. If they had a weakness it looked like being their back-line and I thought we could have got it into Adams a bit quicker and played off him. Obviously not having Ings is a big problem against the best teams as you need to look after the ball.
  12. On a separate point, Cavani is a class above Greenwood and Rashford so at least he didn't start.
  13. I've done my ratings. Here are my ratings. McCarthy - 6 - dug himself out of a hole he seemed determined to dig. Looked shaky. KWP - 6 - OK but didn't make a forward contribution. Bednarek - 7 - ok. Vestergaard - 6 - you're not Beckenbauer and we aren't a world class team. Concentrate on defending. Bertrand - 6 - similar to KWP. OK but not a great day. Romeo- 6 - meh. Bit sloppy. JWP - 9 - quality. Can't knock the contribution. Armstrong - 6 - bit sloppy today. Djenepo - 7 - looked dangerous. We didn't get the ball to him quickly enough. Walcott - 5 - he's not very good at passing or shooting, unfortunately. Adams - 8 - we should have got the ball into him quicker. He did his job really well but unfortunately wasn't supported well enough.
  14. Yep. You’re seeing the difference between a good team and a great team emerging quite clearly.
  15. How’s it fair for some clubs to have no fans and some to have fans? We are going to be disadvantaged by not being in Tier 3 by having 2,000 moany old gits shouting “get it forward” and whinging.

    Coronavirus

You're endangering everyone because by remaining a host and transmitter of the virus you are giving it an environment to adapt over time and increasing the likelihood that new strains which people aren't immune to will develop. Its pretty simple: if you refuse a safe vaccine you are a selfish bellend.

Assuming it passes the usual safety tests, why on earth would anyone not want it? You'd have to be some sort of pseudo tough-guy or selfish un-Christian moron to reject it. Even if you don't think you're at risk (which is a fucking stupid view to adopt given that long-covid is still badly understood) you have a duty to help curb spread by immunising yourself.
  20. This isn't really news. This from 2018: https://www.stereogum.com/2025451/the-pogues-shane-macgowan-fairytale-of-new-york-censor/news/ "MacGowan has issued a statement to Virgin Media’s The Tonight Show addressing the lyrics. “The word was used by the character because it fitted with the way she would speak and with her character. She is not supposed to be a nice person, or even a wholesome person,” he said. “She is a woman of a certain generation at a certain time in history and she is down on her luck and desperate.” “Her dialogue is as accurate as I could make it but she is not intended to offend! She is just supposed to be an authentic character and not all characters in songs and stories are angels or even decent and respectable, sometimes characters in songs and stories have to be evil or nasty in order to tell the story effectively,” the statement continued. “If people don’t understand that I was trying to accurately portray the character as authentically as possible then I am absolutely fine with them bleeping the word but I don’t want to get into an argument.” McDermott returned to Twitter to respond to MacGowan, clarifying that no one on his team tried to get the song banned from RTÉ. “I get the dysfunctional characters and mayhem and trading of insults,” he said. “My point was we beep out relatively harmless swear words all the time on radio to appease literally everyone… So, the idea of beeping one word on daytime radio didn’t seem so radical — given this particular word packs a lot of punch for many people and is used as a powerful slur outside this song.”" Sensible explanation from MacGowan and a reasonable observation from some other geezer that, certainly during non-watershed hours, songs are censored all the time. No one is trying to stop people enjoying the original but you wouldn't have a song with loads of "niggers" or "muthafukas" left uncensored and broadcast during the daytime as entertainment - even in the context of an authentic narrative - and I don't think this is qualitatively different.

You think they should wait until they've got 17,000 or 170,000 then lock down?

  24. We are definitely playing a more patient and better controlled build up, but still looking to attack with purpose and speed when we do attack. Last season we were much more direct at all times. In other words, we have added the ability to "break down" teams over recent weeks with technique and skill, not just with effort and pressure. I think that's partly tactical and testament to Ralph's work but maybe our success in transitioning to a new style has been helped by the players having a calmer environment to operate in. If you can feel tension then clearly there is more chance of taking the easy option on the ball or mis-executing the difficult option. I expect we will have a couple of games where it goes wrong and we get a bit of a bumming but it's definitely the way to go and a positive step forward.
  25. Anyone seen the bizarre, desperate emails he is sending to his mailing list asking for funding for legal challenges? Read the small print and 50% of donations goes to a legal fund and 50% is used to pay off his campaign debts. Bankrupt grifters never learn.
