Why the **** would he stay away "as a protest". Doesn't make any sense at all. It's his club FFS and he clearly enjoys coming to matches. If he wants to show his displeasure about something he can do it easily - by sacking the manager, for example - he wouldn't have some silly temper tantrum.

at this nonsense. Has a significant managerial announcement ever been made in a matchday programme at a football club? Ever? Clearly there was some sort of error. It might be one that is not readily apparent to the casual reader. Something to do with an advert, a typo, whatever. Clearly the error was not realised until a few copies had been sold. It must have been something reasonably significant to get them to pull the issue but was it anything to do with footballing operations... doubt it.
