  1. I still can't decide which hurts more. Their deliberate loss to WBA which sent us down, or Norris's last gasp equaliser at SMS which denied us promotion back to the PL.
  2. "One of the Premier League’s most upwardly-mobile clubs."
  3. You can add me to the "**** Chambers let him rot on Arsenal's bench" camp.
  4. The Shipperley I remember was crap 90% of the time.
  5. I don't know about other people, but I wasn't ecstatic when he signed. More like ... £4 million for him??
  6. Agreed about George. But Osgood stayed with us in the 2nd division, and of course there was that match in 1976! So I can't say I was disappointed with him.
  7. I doubt it. They may pretend to be shaken up, but they aren't. Betting on EPL is huge. They paid out £8 million on Leicester winning, but I bet (no pun intended) that it hardly makes a dent on how much they made from winning every title bet on the other 19 teams. It would be interesting to see the actual cost impact of Leicester winning vs. the other teams. I'd guess that bookies would've had to pay out more than £8 million if Man City, Man U. or Arsenal had won. On top of that, they have won on thousands of long shot bets over decades, and now there will probably be even more suckers to their lose money on ridiculous long shot bets.
  8. With one notable exception, of course.
  9. Possibly. Or maybe the "had" refers to the previous 3 managers. Edit: Shurlock beat me to it.
  10. Real Madrid the big one on the right, Skates the tiddler on the left, and we're somewhere in between. I'm guessing the swarm of piranhas on the right are agents.
  11. I think Glenda confuses m.o.m. with worst player on the pitch. An understandable mistake.
  12. Just because he doesn't sign an extension doesn't mean he's necessarily leaving at the end of next season. There's nothing to stop him and the club extending the contract just before it expires. Unless we are in a Pellegrini situation (and I doubt Saints would do that), or RK announces he's leaving, it should be business as usual next season. WGS announced it was his last season, and that did make a difference. And of course it's different to the last year of a player's contract, where we could lose significant transfer fees if it runs down (e.g. why Clyne was sold).
  13. Gareth Bale may disagree with that.
  14. No, it was before the internet was invented. If I recall, a bloke called David Curry organised it, and we old farts used to send postcards to one another.
  15. I don't have much against Utd, so definitely want them to win. Now if we needed Spurs or the Skates* to win I'd definitely settle for Q3. * Extremely hypothetical, of course.
  16. I think we need a miracle to survive this season.
  17. and a 5-1 Spurs loss against relegated Newcastle which saw Arsenal overtake them (again).
  18. Boro.
  19. Great picture. Shame Pardew wasn't there too, he really helped set the foundation for the spectacular rise.
  20. What, no danger of relegation? Are you sure, Mack?
  21. But could actually gain one. Possibly. Maybe.
  22. Maybe he really hates Man Utd and West Ham (who would lose out altogether if Palace win).
  23. This thread thrives on confusing matters. But unfortunately the above isn't a confusing matter, we all agree it is correct.
