Wow Molby is a moron.

Good points, it's particularly interesting that they've spent around £70 million on attacking midfielders plus have Rooney (who's probably on £150k a week) who all basically play the same position, and still have Barkley. But have only bought one striker, a talented but unproven guy from La Liga for £5 million. When they really needed to replace Lukaku. Siggurdsson is a very good player, but he's not a striker, their transfer policy reminds me a little of Arsenal/Liverpool, buying players in positions they are already strong but have glaring weaknesses. To be honest if we get Hoedt in, and maybe Vietto, keep VVD, I think we are in a better position than them. They will have Europe to deal with as well. Our defence is better than theirs, we easily match them in midfield and we are stronger in the striker position, interestingly they are over subscribed in attacking mids where we are probably weak.

Southampton owner tells Mauricio Pellegrino he has no extra funds (The Times)

Certainly a worry, but 'business as usual' has been used a lot so I'm presuming that when it says 'additional transfer budget' it means additional to what we have already allocated, so it doesn't mean we have no money to spend it just means we aren't going to dump another £40-50 million. So looks like we are close to getting Hoedt, and possibly one other, so we are still closing in on a £40 million spend this summer with £15 million (?) recouped. If manage to get Vietto as well and have to pay for him, then likely someone (say Long) will go out. So depending how much we spend there, we are still looking at our first net spend for years. Unless of course we sell VVD. Does ask the question though, why if Kat was looking for someone to help take use to the next level has she sold to someone who has no money. -
Weren't people saying Long was on the way out?
-
£120 million for those three seems very optimistic to me. Aside the Ox, the other two are on long contracts. Can't see us selling for less than £70 million, if not more, then I'd expect Leicester to want £35 million plus for Drinkwater and Arsenal have already turned down £35 million for Chamberlain.
-
From what I have heard even his own teammates dislike him because he's so arrogant. Can't see it happening at all, more like a West Ham signing, he's too old, on too high wages and doesn't fit our team personality wise. He'd be straight on to Virgil probably telling him new ways to force a move.
-
Highly rated from what I've read about Luan, but would expect bigger clubs to be in to him plus I'm pretty sure we don't scout in South America Europe only, but that may have changed.According to reports Liverpool and Arsenal want him and he has a move to Spartak Moscow on hold.
-
I trust Kat on this one, nothing she has done says she would have sold the club to some chancers with no money.
-
Chan might be a bigger loss for them than Coutinho to be honest, granted doesn't bang in the goals but seems vital in that midfield, be like them letting another Xabi Alonso go. But again it's Juve, pretty much guaranteed tittles and champions league, which is not going to happen at Liverpool.

There is no point having these things as 'votes' because the majority of people won't be objective and will just vote for their favourite player/club. They should have panels of independent experts decide on these things.
-
Hopefully West Ham will be a bit more adventurous than Swansea, though they still have players that can hurt is. Is Carroll fit? Cos I's worry about our defence against him, also Antonio is a threat in the air peeling on to the fullbacks. Knowing our luck we'll play them off the park, miss all our shots and they'll score one from a corner or a long shot.
-
Me neither, he's a tidy player but offered very little for me. JWP was one of our better players yesterday and was much better than Davis last year. Davis should be a rotation option this year. Lemina in for Davis for me (Lemina is not an attacking mid so no idea why people are putting him in that position) And personally I'd drop Tadic for Boufal. To be honest JWP has to play for set pieces alone because clearly no one else seems to be able to take them hence Yoshida taking that free kick at the end.
-
Apparently so, but I've always thought Gerrard was a bit of a plonk really, all these shows should ditch the pundits for game where they have clear bias, the two pundits for a game should be neutral, I reckon that would be much better.
-
Like I said in the other thread, our biggest culprit last season for missing chances was Tadic, basically missed 4 sitters and missed another yesterday (why the f he went for that with his right foot when he;s left footed I don't know). Bit of an enigma Tadic because he creates a lot of chances as well but is wasting clear cut ones. Good to see JWP bursting late into the box, I reckon he'll get more goals this year.
-
Not many people score from direct free kicks full stop. Also noted that when they were talking about Liverpool conceding goals from set plays, we matched them and were like joint 3rd worst in the league last year.
-
If last season hadn't happened and particularly the last home games last year would anyone really worry about this? It's a new manager, new start and the performance was good. Swansea parked the bus, rode their luck and nicked a point, on another day we would have scored 5. These things happen, could be worse we could have created nothing which was what we were more like under Puel. Give the guy time and the players time, Gabbi will score, Austin will score, Redmond has goals in him, JWP is improving this side of his game and Boufal has goal potential once he gets a run in the side. An interesting thing to note as well, was watching Soccer Saturday yesterday and according to Le Tiss, Puel was offered the chance to stay on the condition he played more attacking/positive football and he refused. One thing I will say though is we miss Pelle, a plan B, I was watching Liverpool v Watford yesterday and Okaka gave them a great out ball against Liverpool's high press. We'll struggle against him when we face him if we don't have VVD I reckon. Also according to this article Tadic was one of the worst players last year for missing 'expected goals' - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40699431 Should have scored 6-7 from the excellent chances he had but only scored 3.
-
To be fair Carragher didn't say anything about him, only Redknapp. Cara was quite correctly trying to say that it doesn't matter who you have at centre back if they all mark like that at set pieces, but Redknapp just kept butting in saying they should get Van Dijk. Interesting to see plenty of pundits are coming out and saying Liverpool should see Countinho and they can't stand in his way etc. Scousers probably not liking them so much now.
-
Little bit harsh on Boufal there IMO, I mean how many minutes are those games and how many of those games was he actually match fit and up to speed. Given game time he'll score some goals, he is the most likely of that lot to score IMO. Plus JWP is improving his goalscoring, 50% of his total goals came last season so hopefully he'll kick on. One of our mifielders needs to get to like 9-11 goals this year in the league, with hopefully one of the strikers scoring 15 plus, then everyone else chips in. The team was just a bit unlucky today IMO, I'd rather see us creating than not creating, the goals will come.
-
Not really, you could have 10 shots on target that are soft shots that are easy saves for the keeper and that would probably be worse.

He doesn't need muscle, I do not get the fascination with physical attributes people have in this country. You still need people that can actually pick a pass, control under pressure etc. As long as he puts the work rate in and can last the 90 doing that then that is most important physical attribute for a centre-mid, which he has, excellent work rate and fitness. I'm also not sure where this slowness comes from either, he's not the fastest but calling him the slowest midfielder in the league is pretty weird. Finally there are opinions based on sound reasoning, logic, supported by stats, then there are opinions that are clearly based on ignorance and very little else, the later doesn't need any debating because there is no point arguing with stupid, they speak for themselves and get instantly dismissed. If you look at whoscored.com I think they sum him pretty well - James Ward-Prowse Characteristics + Strengths Taking set-pieces Very Strong Crossing Strong Holding on to the ball Strong Key passes Strong Concentration Strong - Weaknesses Aerial Duels Weak Finishing Weak Tackling Weak That last point is a key one for me, concentration, Ward-Prowse is an intelligent footballer, reads the game well and positions himself well, another massively overlooked ability these days, again over fascination with pace and strength, an example being Sterling who as far as I can tell is pretty terrible on the mental side of his game, but hey he runs fast in a straight line so that is great yeh? JWP needs to improve his finishing and movement into the box and he'll develop into a top attacking centre-mid IMO.
-
Does he mean at the training ground? As in they are there to film something? Like one of those teammates features or the crossbar thing (do they still do that?)
-
That's because he's a good player, the amount of pillocks on here are astounding. If you can't recognise JWP is a good player then I suggest Football is not your game.
-
Poor old Michael Johnson, was predicted be the next Gerrard and just got crippled by injuries.
-
You're a pillock.

Rose - What a pr*ck. So just throw some money at a big name and hope it works then, worked well for Spurs when they had all the Bale money. They should get rid of him with that attitude, Davies is pretty decent and I'm sure with some good scouting they could find someone who is better than Danny Rose. He's certainly not as good as he seems to think he is.
