I was born in 61, so I imagine we saw the same things. The peace has been achieved, they already have what they wanted on the terms they dictated. If you aren't revolted by this development I despair for us. "No surrender" has turned into "whatever they ask for, give it to them." Pathetic.

indeed. But not as funny as "if Osvaldo comes with the right attitude...." Priceless.

I learned how to spell his name, if nothing else. And equating apartheid with the "troubles" is disingenuous in the extreme.
-
Exactly. But I don't know if you're referring to barnes or mlt.

I've read Mandela. The northern irish peace process has already been completed, there's no reason whatsoever to appease the vermin that killed charles' uncle, thereby legitimising their actions by (probably) the next monarch. I can't believe that people are just accepting this, I find it sickening.

"Worthwhile" how, exactly? What has it achieved? He didn't ask to visit, he was asked to by the ira. I cannot comprehend why he would have agreed to it, or why his advisors or family could have sanctioned it.

Any residual respect I had for that c*nt evaporated the moment he shook hands with gerard adams.

That's the point. He was dreadful for England, but still got picked relentlessly by a succession of managers despite his continuously abysmal national form. Compare that for example with mlt who barely got a look in.

...john effing barnes.....
-
Did he put it in bold italics, then underline it?

Awesome!! He's better than Bale, Costa and Aguero. I knew we got mugged for 20m, I'm sure the dippers fans would agree.

Depends how much he wants to play regularly, I suppose. If he was going to move back south, I'd like to think we'd be his first choice assuming the current management wanted him. That said, its worth remembering he was first out of the door, so I don't suppose the club can have strained every sinew to keep him here.

Just heard alan green on 5 live, doing his usual creampie over old trafford. Asked about Manés record hat trick yesterday, his reply was "I don't want to seem cruel, but he won't be in the premiership for much longer." Can't remember exactly what he added to that, but it was basically dismissive and saying bluntly that Sadio's not good enough for this league. I was quite chuffed. All we need now is for hodgson to state publicly that none of our players are good enough for the national side regardless of who they play for, and I'll be even happier.

...and a few of our own, to be fair.

I actually clicked view post just to get the link to whatever swedish dave was banging on about. Wish I hadn't.

I'll stop at nothing to avoid using negative numbers.

On current form, you've every right to be. That said, I think we'll dig out a win. Last home game, and all that.

This is what I'm starting to not get. Everyone keeps saying its ok to sell a top player for top money as long as we replace him with as good or better for far less. At the same time, the suggestion is that we're seriously looking to become a side challenging for CL. If we have to sell Clyne and Morgan, why do we need to spend less on their replacements? Didn't we have a huge surplus after last seasons transfers? I know the top players get bigger wages, but surely if we keep buying in players for significantly less money than we received for the outgoing ones the squad itself will inevitably be weakened over time?

I agree with every word of this. Under pochettino, we played with such an emphasis on defence and possession that I always found it hard to see how we were ever going to score ourselves. I know that's the main issue he was brought in to address, but our forwards definitely lost something under his system.

Djuricic has looked good. Not enough to make much difference though. Hammond on as well!

That's more interesting than the game, tbh.
