One swallow does not make a summer and I remember vividly you making comment during the era you mention that we should enjoy the success as it would not last I have been following the Saints from around 1960 with the first thirty being great with decent managers and some great players but since the Premier League results have been poor and the standard of players generally worse than before the Premier League We can only be a decent club if we have wealthy owners who employ independent experienced football people to run the club

Reed had a couple of good seasons but it was obvious that selling our best players was not going to lead to success Semmens did a good job but we were in terminal decline which has led to where we are now with a serious of poor managers no top class players from the Academy and average quality signings

Under Bates Mcmenemy and Nichol I had faith in the manager, style of play, most of the players and the board. I think the recruitment has been ok recently but getting the elusive decent Centre Forward which we have been trying to recruit for so long would no doubt make us a far better team The full back situation needs to be improved although injuries have not helped there

I agree with you but continually going on about him when the club is likely to stick with him is a annoying and a waste of time He is not a top class player like the rest of the squad but he has the misfortune to play in a position where most people seem to know all there is to goalkeeping he keeps playing in a winning team and earning possibly more in a week than lots of people earn in a year

Just accept that we are in the Championship and the Club has decided to play with Baz this season and just support him We are not going to get in another goalkeeper until the summer as we have Ramsdale out on loan and McCarthy out of contract in the Summer

You live in La La Land it takes time to build a PL team be realistic there are so few PL standard players in our squad just like last season when we amassed so few points Our other promotion teams did have some decent PL players but these days you need over 20 top class players

Why would they appoint Eckert after two wins against mediocre teams as there is no hurry as it is highly unlikely we will get promoted this season and if we did it would likely be a disaster SR would have learnt from their mistakes with Jones and Juric despite what some on here might think Getting in a Manager when we were in the PL was much easier than in the Championship but we were only really successful with PL managers who moved on very quickly to bigger clubs

I did not say we should go for the unproven route I just think getting in a good manager is very difficult because most of the suggestions on here are unlikely to happen So best to wait until we can get in someone decent

I do not think it is as easy as you suggest getting in managers there do not seem to be many available from what I can see

Yes but we did not beat PNE at home or Blackburn away as most people expected but the results have improved since Still left so he has had a posive affect on the team whether it will continue we will have to wait and see but the team's confidence seems better
