  1. Worry not, MJ is always "close" to takeovers, as close as you can get without ever actually putting up any money. They would have done if only they'd have been able to scrape up 500K, it's always the same with him. Long pockets, short arms.
  2. I really think that many of you are going to be extremely disappointed when the ST prices are announced.I doubt that full rate STs are going to be available for £200. £300 or just a wee bit less will be roughly the minimum for family enclosure adults. You only have to look at the concurrence to see that even in League 1 football isn't particularly cheap.Look at Millwall for instance, £375/£380 for STs in the best places and that's on their early renewal scheme.
  3. It doesn't take much to upset them,I know a guy who has a restaurant, put down "gruyere" as an ingredient of something or other on the menu and as always used plain old common or garden emmenthal, same as everyone else. The swiss cheese police came round and whacked a lawsuit on him for taking the name of their AOC national product in vain. Cost him 900 euros in the end.
  4. I'm not counting on it. I think we have a majority chance of being wound up. Fry knows what he can get for the component parts, unless that figure is met we're done for.
  5. I'd wager our main problem is poor revenues,Southampton is not a "rich" city. I believe average salaries are way below the national average and way way below those for the South East.Too many high mortgages and low incomes make cash available very limited.Too many concessions in the crowd make-up.
  6. Second best quarterback in the NFL but an awful defence. Sounds a bit like us really.
  7. Ecclestone is part owner at QPR isn't he?
  8. A couple of weeks, another 48 hours, a bit more time, thing is the clock is ticking, the players are due back on about the 20th of June for pre-season and every day that goes by just racks up more debt.Something has to happen now or it will be too late, not in a couple of weeks, within the next 72 hours I'd say.
  9. today's the end of the week, but not the end of next week,or the week after that.
  10. Dainty Dave actually is a character from a Herman Melville poem, Bridegroom **** (nudge nudge). I think Tight Tom also appears in the same work.
  11. Elton John fits the description and the colourway.
  12. Dainty Dave is probably just the latest in a long line of self appointed purveyors of ****** to the fact starved masses that populate message boards.
  13. But Docker, once we were into admin we were never ever going to a see another brass farthing of Barclay's money. If they were willing to lend us more(with string attached) they wouldn't have bounced cheques in the first place. They probably even siphoned off a slab of the gate receipts from the last 3 home games. I have expressed the view time and time again, that all this was taking too long and that nothing was going to happen before really drastic measures would be needed. Facts seem to bear out my theory.
  14. I don't ever remember Sheffield Utd offering us money for Dyer to be honest. THey certainly didn't this year and I don't think he was ever on loan there before that, he was at Burnley a couple of years back, doubt if they offered 1.2 million for him though. West Ham may have offered us money for him, perhaps as they have to give Sheff Utd a packet of dosh .....
  15. Anyway we should never have been in administration in the first place,we could have sold players for ridiculously low sums in January and avoided it. Know what I think? I think Lowe was actually afraid to sell Surman,Lallana and Dyer for about a million all up, he was afraid of the backlash from the fans, the mob ruled and now we're even deeper in the brown.
  16. Really? I'm off down to the bank to borrow 50 million euros then. I'll keep enough to make the repayments and interest up till 20/12/12 and squander the rest on....well I'll think of something, most of which will involve loose women and booze.Leaving Las Vegas sort of style for a bit over 3 years.
  17. :cool::cool::cool::cool:
  18. But the whole point is that (as far as I remember) they were in the CCC when Quinn et al took over and then they did it in style to get to the promised land, ie the Premier League where, no matter how mediocre you may be, there's still money to be made. Appointing Keane was inspired, although it all went tits up afterwards, the whole point is getting to the Premier, then you can sell the club for a handsome return, unless you've got a crap stadium and no fans like Pompey.Once you're there and have had a brush with relegation then that's the time to cash in and not wait too late.
  19. Bet they make a really handsome profit, think they paid about 15 million a few years back.Shows it can be done but you have to be bold and not arse about with second rate managers, players and ideas.
  20. And Britt Ekland claimed she wrote all the rest;-);-);-)
  21. I thought Niall Quinn owned Sunderland with a few of his Irish mates. I think if Quinn came south it would be to buy Pompey.
  22. not this bloke was it
  23. Nick Leeson is Irish football isn't he? Old colleague of Rupert's
  24. I don't think I'll even bother to get excited about this new "consortium".
  25. What preseason? Best we can hope for is away games at Sholing,Eastleigh and Totton, if the council gives us 18 free bus passes to get there.
