  1. But look at last year, they replaced Evra with Shaw, Evra's had a good season at Juve I think, Shaw has has his usual sick note troubled twelvemonth. They were mad to let Evra go really.
  2. There are even 2 of them, as there were yesterday.
  3. Especially one that doesn't defend particularly well, might be alright for a 3-5-2 system I suppose.
  4. Must be too easy to register I'd guess. Make everyone pay and have done with it, no £5 no posting.
  5. So the article on the OS saying that he was back from his successful loan spell with Wednesday was just a throw away Pope is a Catholic line then ?
  6. Is that a Dutch Nun ?
  7. I'm not sure that it sends out a message to other players, anyone nearing the end of their contract will have a new one on offer if they're of interest to the club. A player who's been out for over a year signing a new deal won't mean very much to any of them really. If they're not interested in whatever we're offering they'll either ride out their existing contract and leave or move on if a suitable buyer can be found. The club have done a very correct thing with JRod but it might well have been different if he'd been playing football these past 14 months.
  8. We didn't have a huge surplus last summer at all, about 85 million in and about 70 million out...we were also supposed to spend all of the money on transfers and salaries. Toby will be costing us a fortune because he was on of 80K a week at Madrid. We've bought more players than we sold as well so I'd be surprised enough if the wage bill hasn't gone up a fair bit as Krueger said it has. Koeman will cost more that Mauricio (who was poorly paid by all accounts). It all adds up and we had debts to boot. There is no kitty from last summer. This summer's aquisitions will have to be funded by the difference in revenues over costs (perhaps about 20 million) and sales. We'll be getting 80 million or so from the PL wheras we got 76 million last season so the difference isn't all that great.
  9. But you need to stop confusing PL goals and Cup goals. Jack Cork has scored 3 goals that count this season (ie in the PL) 2 for us (so we got the benefit) and 1 for Swansea. All of the rest just don't matter, if indeed there are any, Victor has scored 3 goals as well, some of them more important, because one of Jack's well it was a tap in when Sunderland were already a lot down. You don't just need to look at goals scored, you need to look at value of goals, a penalty in the 88th minute when you're already 3 up has nowhere near the value of a goal in a 1-0 cliffhanger.
  10. If you say so, it's your money.
  11. Caught in the slips today ? Not sure caught by an opener and they often field in the slips. Disastrous 19/3, down to Dawson and Smith now...or wind and wuthering.
  12. Very laudable if that was the case, still he had a year left and I couldn't really see him going anywhere else this summer.
  13. Personally I've nothing against letting Cork go but not in January where the possibilities of getting good replacement are lessened. To me we sacrificed quality for a measly 3 million £ in the short term. Depends why we need the 3 million I suppose, if it was to pay for Elia and Djuricic (who I think isn't a bad player) then the decision was questionable.
  14. I think we need to be talking PL goals only here, the rest count for nothing much. Tadic has scored 4 league goals I think. Morgan and Victor 7 Tadic,Davis and JWP 5
  15. Unlikely but then our DMs have scored more than our CMs so it can't really be that difficult.
  16. Not a bad start by our bowlers in York's second knock but Dawson and Edwards are now getting flayed, 32 off of the last 2 overs including 3 nbs from Edwards. We'll need some solid, sensible 4 day batting tomorrow, I'd put Smith in at opener probably.
  17. U21s level football, apparently Gazza is good in the U21s.
  18. Well it's just a 3 year extension really(time wise that is), I'm sure he'll be just great anyway. To me he just can't be much worse than anything that we have already, he's quick and brave and doesn't spend all afty on his arse appealing to the ref. In fact he even scored sat on the ground last season.
  19. Although it's more 4 than 6 just now, perhaps we'd need another 30 like him to be on the safe side.
  20. We'll have to see, Jay was all about pace, if he's lost only a fraction of it he may be diminished somewhat. No reason for him to have lost anything really.
  21. Well you obviously haven't been listening to the forum experts today then, apparently he's just what we need for some reason or other, something about one cross that landed on Pellè's head against Spurs defence, one of the worst in the PL might I add and certainly the worst in the top half of the league. .
  22. Doesn't seem to make sense, he was out with 2 different injuries at the same time apparently, possible of course but you just need to count that as one absence and not 2 surely..
  23. Not for Liverpool anyway, must have played about 30 games last season and scored 20 odd goals in the PL. Anyway this season he's still scored more than Balotelli and Lambert put together despite only starting in a handful of games. Another player on whom last summer's WC has taken it's toll.
  24. Very little I expect, he's got his contract, he must have kind of got used to limited playing time and no other bunch of fools are going to give us anywhere near 12 million £ for him so it must be carry on as you were.
  25. Sometimes it's too expensive, taking a hit on one salary is less than the bill for insuring the whole squad. No idea where we are with that though, you'd have to look at the line by line accounts. Insuring a 30 man squad against loss of playing time would probably run into a couple of million at least. Statistics obligé, no PL club goes through a season without losing at least 1 player for a fairly long time.
