  1. 88, beat Russia about 4-0, in 92 it was the great Danish upset, they only played because Serbia (or Yugoslavia) got turfed out for being knobbish.
  2. I seem to remember that just after joining us he scored a cracker in a close win, crowd took to him instantly. It was also great escape season and he scored a couple of vital goals in our run in.
  3. Hasn't he got a cushy job on the board at Bournemouth lined up ? Better chance of being in the PL next season with Bournemouth than he had at QPR.
  4. Think it's known as chauvinism, Tadic is becoming a bit of a disappointment for me, never was convinced, still am not. Think the PL is too intense for his capacities, not the first, won't be the last..
  5. Really can't see that it would make much difference. QPR are a poor side, changing the manager won't change that.
  6. People see what they want to see, if the tackle had been the other way round and Barrow was only given a yellow there'd be a furore to end all furores on this forum. It was a red card, there is no issue really.
  7. Source seems to be L'Equipe who seem to be getting wilder and wilder in their transfer "news" and less and less accurate. They used to get most of it spot on, now they've caught Sunitis and just dish out populist crap. Only a few months back they were saying that Saints knocked back a bid of 34 million €s on the last transfer deadline day. They're being fed crap by all and sundry now and more is the pity. For instance they're reporting the transfer fee for Bertrand today at 15 million euros or about 12 million £ whereas it seems to be about 9 million £.
  8. Well done you then, hadn't noticed, recent ?
  9. Apart from his penchant for starting new threads all the time to avoid paying £5 you mean.
  10. Oh you mean that new fangled invention whereby any knob can make up crap and send it round the globe to impress gullible idiots everywhere.
  11. Nope, to work in the UK (well as a footballer anyway) you either need to be British, come from some country or other where there's a reciprocal agreement (used to be the case with Australia and the like) be an EU citizen or get a work permit. The classic example of this is Traore with West Ham and Everton last season. 6 month loan from Monaco to West Ham, applied for the old WP, eventually got it after a tribunal, didn't fancy West Ham, signed for Everton who had to start again on the work permit front, must have played for Everton about once as well. If the lad has the required number of recent international appearances to be an automatic WP it's dead simple, rubber stamp jobby, if he doesn't we'd have to go and plead our case at a tribunal again.
  12. Wasn't he seen at the Nuffield Clinic as well ? Seems that he just likes to thank people who've helped him in the recent past, does it a lot although only recently on Twitter.
  13. In fact they figure at the end of the gallery for Sunday's game so they were evidently in some form of light training even then, pity neither of them was able to contribute 20 minutes or so at the end of yesterday"s game.
  14. Absolutely, it's what happens after you brush the ball with your laces that counts, if you clatter a player as he did then you're as likely as not to get sent off.
  15. Ah but the French press seem desperate to get him to what they consider a "proper club". 10 sport wrote a lot of bollax about him last summer as well, can safely be ignored.
  16. What's with all the sticky tape on Victor's GPS bib then, did he burst it asunder in a sort of Hulk like way or is it an old brand that hasn't been replaced despite Garmin sponsorship.
  17. I think that there have been significant changes in the sports science and injury management structures this season. That is not to say that they contribute in any way to our plethora of recent injuries though, perhaps it's the juggling.
  18. Just as well then, it was a non-starter despite what all the Brian O'Neil and Denny Hollywood fans might think.
  19. And as the ref had seen them going at each other over by the touch line just a few minutes before, the red was an absolute nailed on certainty for that challenge, if they hadn't clashed in an ugly way just before then he might have got away with a yellow.
  20. In fact having looked at yesterday's game again I'd be happy to see him back because Pellé doesn't get onto half of the chances that our wide men create, he's just not where he needs to be when he needs to be. He's a target man 20 yds out but he's no sniffer dog in the box. We need better to maximise the work the wide men are doing.
  21. No we should keep him and try to get him to score a goal or two for us, if we have to pay him anyway I'd hope we'd not be stupid or arrogant enough to put him on garden leave when we're desperate for a bit of variety in attack on occasions.
  22. In fact Ben Arfa has been refused his transfer to Nice because he played for Newcastle in an U21 game and then Hull,no end of appeals and what have you but at the end of the day even an U21 game is classed as official nowadays.
  23. Coquelin was on his way out, he was on loan at Charlton to finish his contract before being sent off into the wilderness, lad has done quite well of late but they'll want better than he eventually, the price is going to be the sticking point as per usual.
  24. Of course but they may not even actually bid for him again and I doubt he'll be duped by them for an nth time. Arsenal want everyone but there is always a limit to what they're prepared to pay. I think we'll hold out for far more than they'll pay.
  25. Getting the ball is no longer acceptable if you take out everything within a 6 yd radius in doing so. The criteria is apparently that if your tackle is reckless enough to put the physical integrity of an opponent in cause then it's a straight red no matter how much of the ball you get. It was a red because he scythed him down in the aftermath.
