  1. Could be, I had him down more as director of football myself but who knows. When is his contract with the FA up ?
  2. Had a long spell out injured though didn't he ?
  3. honestly I'd think that if we couldn't keep Mauricio we can't attract Benitez. See him as waiting for Villa myself when they eventually get a new rich owner or even QPR.
  4. Well if you listen to the US Navy ..their own equipment, not very likely though. Then again during the initial wreckage search various Navies and Air forces bunged a lot of electroinc junk into the drink, sonar buoys in theory, perhaps someone bunged in the odd black box tracker for whatever reason that suited them.
  5. the appointment and the recruitment package, not just the coach himself. More and more football managers are leaving clubs because they feel stiffled by the lack of serious funds for recruitment. It's why Zidane turned down Bordeaux, it's why Garde left Lyon. Managers want success as well as players.
  6. Baldini is going to get the push now isn't he? Probably didn't have much input on Mauricio's appointment, obviously wanted one of his italian cronies in the job.
  7. Probably more to do with having so many players on WC duty actually. No point in going thousands of miles to get your reserve XI thumped by some local minnows.
  8. unless they were actually resolute in letting him go. In a controlled manner of course.
  9. especially as his win ratio at Valencia was none too great. Is he leaving Feynoord then anyway. See Schuster has been given the heave ho at Malaga, that'll take away one decent candidate. Laudrup perhaps.
  10. not sure that clubs will be falling over themselves to give Moyes a job at all myself. Probably have to wait a while or drop back a level. He's really done himself no good at all. Martinez proved that Everton are a good side and got good results with them, Moyes fecked up at Utd in a relative way of speaking. He's perhaps not as good as some might have thought before he went to Old Traff.
  11. Well as long as we can sack him after one season in the same way as Edmonton Oilers what's not to like. The fights might be more interesting than the football though.
  12. No, I said it's not as if we weren't accustomed to the MO. They've already done it with the CEO hiring haven't they?
  13. He was yesterday's man last week, now he's just another dinosaur with no hope of ever getting another football management job...well not a real one anyway.
  14. I did actually, I'm like Wanyama, highly desirable material, worked for the highest bidder for years. This is exactly why I can understand the attitude of these young men, they have talent and anyone who p*sses them about won't have their respect for very long. Regrettable but it's the price of all the work put in to hone the raw talent in the first place.
  15. Gray, Wigley, Gorman and Dodd....??????
  16. might be like the CEO replacement, interview a few likely candidates, let everything die down in a wall of silence and then appoint from within, Hunter or Reed. I mean it's not like we're not used to that modus operandii is it.
  17. this "board" didn't sign him, Cortese did, what does Victor care about them anyway, he can get a new job at the blink of an eye, someone will pay good money for him and to him. He feels that he's been let down and is saying so, so will others, some already have...before it was too late.
  18. Indeed, just getting a new longer term contract is one thing, keeping players and getting others that you need to progress is something else. Put in a difficult position far too many times last season by lack of depth in our squad and some really mediocre players not being moved on and replacements obtained. He's been through that at Espanyol, took him a while to get a new job, probably didn't want to find himself up against Chelsea next season with Gazzaniga in goal, Jos in defence and JWP and Reed in the middle of the park, he's been there done that and chose not to renew the experience.
  19. the concerning thing is that no matter what really happened the players believe that Pochettino should have been enticed to stay. They all seem to be reading from the same him sheet too, makes you think that the board did not try hard enough to keep Mauricio. "There are several things they have to do, they know it" Morgan in the Echo and elsewhere not long back. Morgan looked very down in the dumps when they were all strolling round the park at Enghien yesterday, perhaps he'd already heard the bad news, perhaps he knew he wasn't going to get a game last night but something was troubling him.
  20. And these players of course have their Pro-licences.
  21. But he wasn't out of contract, he had next year too, same as Mauricio, wanted a big salary hike and better players though, can't think what for. Mutual agreement apparently.
  22. Bielsa signed at Marseille yesterday afternoon, 2 years, Gabby Heinze as assistant. T'was in L'Equipe yesterday, they don't get basic things like that wrong.
  23. Well i think you'll find that the board cannot in fact be sacked, not by us anyway. When you have shareholders...then you can start about sacking boards (rather than individual members of it) When you have one careful owner then no-one has any power at the end of the day but that person or their appointed trustee.
  24. Why do you think he was brought in to do that, has he any experience in that sector ? Is his forté not leading people to believe in themselves and thus perform better. I've not too much idea of his background but I certainly don't have him down as a super sales exec. His not a CEO of a company either, in fact at the end of the day he's an ice hockey coach and motivational speaker, how any of that is supposed to improve our commercial receipts I just couldn't say. However he has managed to sell himself to KL and therefore probably boosted his own revenues so who can say really.
  25. What good would that do...honestly. You either go to games, buy merchandise whatever or you don't. The board don't really care whether we have any confidence in them or not...no matter what they might say on the subject.
