So then what was the original plan? Lambert and Rodriguez together perhaps, might well have worked but you have to forego either Gaston or Lallana in that case. I like Rickie's work rate and his creative contribution but until Lallana and Gaston can shoulder the goal scoring burden on a regular basis and against decent defences we need something different in attack. I am sure that Lallana's goal contribution is causing concern at SMS.

Exactly, what a powerhouse like Bafetimbi Gomis couldn't do for us isn't worth knowing. I still (and no doubt many will get on my case over this) think Lambert is vastly overated and not really sharp enough for the EPL. A bit more up front through the middle yesterday would have got us at least a point, if we'd had Suarez we'd have won.

don't want to kick the old cage but I really don't think Nigel wants Mayuka here. Mayuka in, Nigel's boy Billy out. Don'"t want to accuse him of being partisan and petty but I really can't see any other reason, unless of course there's an attitude problem or something.

did not Liverpool have players on the pitch today who didn't play on Wednesday, Shelvey, Lucas perhaps. That's our problem, we have a first XI and a couple of bench options and that's about it. 25 players in the "squad" and about 13 first team options, the rest is just dead wood and won't get a game until hell freezes over type players..

we certainly need something more at the front, didn't see the first half but I thought Lambert gave their central defence a 45 minute vacation in the second half. We need to find a solution to his hit and miss play.

got to see the 2nd half, thought we looked OK but we had nothing at the sharp end.
