  1. When L'Equipe gets on your case you're done. They had evidence that LA was doping in the 1999 tour, they made it public and the UCI didn't take a blind bit of notice, I guess because McQuaid wanted an Anglo-Saxo bike hero. The Equipe is never done down, they're like a yappy dog that bites your ankles and keeps on biting until you fall down, they are also very rarely wrong, mainly because they know where and how to get accurate information. They know about most UK football transfers long before the Sun and the Mirror
  2. Let's just say there were a few times when he went down easily when staying on his feet was probably a better option and just as easy.
  3. That'll teach you to stray from King Edward's. But I was good(ish) at football; KE's wasn't an option.
  4. Having seen the game on Eurosport I'd have to say that winning the toss made quite a difference. Auckland put us in and really exploited an odd looking wicket, ball seemed to be alternately holding up and zipping through. Then when they were in bat we didn't seem to be able to get anywhere near the same effect.
  5. Perhaps dunking their heads in the bogs has been banned. I remember my first day at Tauntons, bumps, head ducked in bog, thrown in the holly bushes and another not so good thing which I don't remember. No dead leg or chinese burn though.
  6. we got a good old drubbing as you'd expect when you only score 121/8 in T20.
  7. Hmmm some unimpressive batting, Carberry scored a good few but even his timing looked way off most of the time. Wicket might be a bit lively though and you have to say that Auckland fielded pretty well throughout, a lot of well taken catchs.
  8. So the exact status quo then, is that common that the bottom 3 after 7 games (6 in Reading's case) are the final relegation trio?
  9. Well at least I'm consistent. from a thread before the Arse game Well I don't know, I don't like the clumsy tackling of Josh all that much, why I even made reference to it in the Man U build up thread and sure enough he gave away another penalty. I m not at all sure that José might not be better with someone a bit more composed along side him.Who knows we might even be planning to go 3 at the back on occasions.
  10. What you have to remember is that the Islamic religion is about 1400 years old, at that stage fanatic christians were burning "heretics" (meaning anyone who disagreed with them) at the stake on a daily basis. When there's no hierachy in a structure it's a complete f*ck up.
  11. See, you're getting the hang of it.
  12. When my Mrs pays the bills they get paid on time, when I pay them the f*ckers usually get to wait.
  13. I think he's a decent defender and that playing alongside Maya takes out a lot of the tension in his game that showed up early on in the season. For me Jos is the problem and it effects those around him. He's too slow, too clumsy and his tackling against PL hotshots who turn on him is just woeful. He was pretty handy in the NPC but the PL is really something else.
  14. It's even made L'Equipe now, 6 weeks.
  15. Pity it's not a "public" poll, then we could have a good old witch hunt in a few weeks time.
  16. I think we have an overly prudent approach to individual fitness actually, especially when it concerns a goalkeeper. Few are the players who go straight into the starting 11 at Saints, in fact we've probably ****ed off more than 1 player by playing him in the U21s for a few weeks at first.
  17. In my view we're taking too long to get Boruc into the team, hopefully he'll be in against West Ham. Our defence needs a commander, doubt if Gazza is that as yet.
  18. As we see every week in France, the minimum wage here costs employers about £11 an hour when you factor in all the social charges. From that sum the employée gets just about £6 I think, all the rest is raked off by government and it's satellite henchmen. Don't forget that's before a single penny of income tax is levied.
  19. Well I'd guess it's because it now costs more than some of those who want to watch Saints regularly can afford. I'd suspect that hiking the OAP concession age from 60 to 65 has cost the club more than one regular attendee.
  20. Jos has been an own goal or a penalty waiting to happen since day 1 of this season, if we had anyone else available (other than Seaborne or a bunch of spotty kids I mean) then I doubt if he'd even have been on the bench or even anywhere near Southampton.
  21. Unfortunate to say but lack of proficiency in spelling is not confined to PO postcodes. Half (or more) of our posters make at least one howler in each post, the favourites being definately ,should of and incorrect use of there, they're and their. But as long as they get their message across I guess it's only academic anyway.
  22. not really a laughing matter when you live in France, we are overun by young islamic potential terrorists. If they had a job other than being look-outs for drug dealers it might be different. Trouble is companies can't afford to hire anybody because of all the social benefits that they have to finance to permit the young to buy drugs n stuff. It really is vicious circle that King Mitterand dropped us into because he needed communist votes. For every worker that takes home about £1000 a month (and that's about a quarter of the working population) from his gross pay of about £1300 it costs a company or administration about £1800. Half the nation pay no tax on their income because they just don't earn enough.
  23. I think we just might get a win or at least a point, not much finesse in West Ham's play, might just suit us down to the ground.
  24. for many among us it was foresight.Half the forum knew we needed defenders, Adkins knew it because he said so but at the end of the day we spent about 22 million on attacking players with no defensive qualities whatsoever and a measly 5 million on the defenders we needed so desperately. This is like many home owners, the roof needs fixing but they spend 2K£ on a big f*cku barbecue.
  25. Evidently not one where Cliff Huxford and Docker Walker kick the opposition over the East Stand in the first 10 minutes and the ref just smiles and raises his thumb in admiration.
