Probably old news but... http://metro.co.uk/2014/05/23/mauricio-pochettino-to-remain-at-southampton-and-snub-tottenhams-advances-4737950/

He see's a gap in the market for more commercial revenues, so i'm guessing lets try and crack America, a tour to America each year will probably gain a good income but without "top players" ppl wont take notice, so keeping hold of our players and getting top players in ( who fit into the team mould ) is a must for that to happen. Getting a good sponsor for next season will also be high up on the agenda, our one atm is one of the lowest in the league and no-way good enough for a top 10 team and to get a top sponsor you need good players. So it all adds up in my eyes that keeping and getting better players will help us long term.
-
Why do we seem to be linking with players from Italy, our style suits the Spanish/South American leagues that's where we should be looking even if it's just paper talk.
-
i voted for clyne just cause i think his crossing is better, also his pace can cause problems when he runs at the full backs. Chambers is very good though and a very good backup but maybe one day we might try and push one of them up on the right wing? could be worth a try in the pre season friendlies to see how it goes.
-
yes he will leave and so will many of our players.
-
£8m? yes please, he's done a great job here but it shows just from this year he does not suit this type of system. He's slows down our counter attacks allowing them to get more defenders back and if we are serious in breaking in the top 6 we need someone who can do a better job. At that price i would try and find a real winger to replace JRod and move him upfront to see how he gets on. Using Osvaldo now and again to break him in to the premier league for next season. We need to look to the future, Ricky isn't our future.
-
This team please, need to look to the future and this would be a good test for jrod and Ramirez.
-
I'd be tempted to play jrod upfront on his own and try to use his pace more. Gazza, Chambers, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw, Morgan, Cork, Davis, Lallana, JWP JRod

5 after the man city game
-
Because we keep playing ppl like Lambert who is slow...it's what about 80% of saints fans have said for a long long time, we need pace in the team. If we had a pacey fwd or winger or even both our counter attacks would be lethal.
-
looks to me as a 4132 formation on paper unless jwp is going to be used as a DM
-
---------------------- Boruc ---------------------- Clyne ------- Fonte ------- Lovren ------- Shaw --------- Wanyama ------- Schneiderlin -------- R.Ekelund --------- Le Tissier --------- Lallana -------------------- Rod Wallace -------------------- In our currant team in a high pressing game we lack pace upfront so R.Wallace would work wonders for counter attacks and on the deck passing. Mlt could always go upfront if needed and move Wallace on the wing and move Lallana behind the forward. If we had Ronnie now he would replace Jrod in a flash, probably the best player ive seen such a pity he got injured. If we had a choice of another player i would choose either Wright or killer for Fonte.
-
Would love to have seen what Lee has to offer
-
It wont happen but id drop Lambert for one of Cork/Davis/Jwp so we dominate the midfield. Pity we don't have anyone with raw pace, after watching England in the last 2 games, Townsend did really well i thought and its the only thing that we lack.
-
So if our aim is to get into Europe there is no point in selling. Get into Europe and you'll get that 15m, Spurs has a lot of money to throw around i would place a 50m tag on him as he is suppose to be the "next Bale" which will be telling them in a nice way...to go and do one.
-
Lambert and Osvaldo shouldn't of both started imo, i knew it wouldn't work and it hasn't, it has messed up our pressing style. We also missed Cork and someone who can run at the defence. I think we should play Cork in away games and let Jwp play home games. How can we get the best out of Osvaldo? get pacey wingers to open the defence and put good balls into the box....and that's what we don't have, not our style? then we have just wasted all that money on someone who thrives with that style.
-
--------------------Boruc Clyne-------Lovren-------Fonte/Yoshida------Shaw ---------Wanyama ----Schneiderlin-------- -----Lallana------Ramirez------- JWP------- ------------------Osvaldo------------ We can't have Osvaldo on the bench he's too good and we can't play Lambert in the hole, Ramirez will be much better suited there. Jwp is playing well so can't drop him and Clyne should be ahead of Chambers. All in all that team has everyone playing in their rightful positions maybe apart from JWP but like i said he's probably the man on form. That formation can be mixed about going 433 if needed moving jwp in the middle.

Post Match Reaction & MotM: SAINTS 1-1 Sunderland
DrunkenSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Need a pacey wide man to get more crosses into the box for Osvaldo (We have no one who runs at the defence, that creates chances). Ramirez linked well with Dani a few times and both should start next game. Lambert too slow and missed good chances, i don't think we should play both Osvaldo and Lambo together, Lallana was crap first half but had a great 25 mins in the 2nd but i'm still unsure of him playing out wide, jrod seemed to have no impact at all. JWP man of the match!! MP really needs to bite the bullet and drop lambert for Osvaldo, our starting 4 attacking players were poor and wont fire us into Europe, yes we didn't really get to see Osvaldo proper game today but he is top quality and probably would of taken Lambert's chances better. There is also no way Lambert can play in the hole, that should be either Lalllana or Ramirez place. -
Lambert likes hogging free kicks don't he? He's no Beckham or Le Tiss, should let someone else have a few to mix it up
-
sorry but Osvaldo is a lone striker and wont play behind where the attacking midfield are, meaning unless Lambert can play behind the striker he wont start and be used as a bench player or we play a 442 but thats not our way anymore. I'm sure Lambert will play there for a bit but we'll need more of a attacking midfielder in there for it to work better, if Ramirez and Osvaldo can link up well i reckon it would be a great pairing. --------------------Boruc-------------------- Clyne------ Lovren---- Yoshida----- Shaw ----------Wanyama----Schneiderlin-------- Puncheon/JRod------- Ramirez-------- --Lallana -------------------Osvaldo------------------ or --------------------Boruc-------------------- Clyne------ Lovren---- Yoshida----- Shaw -----Cork-------Wanyama-----Schneiderlin-------- Puncheon------- Osvaldo-------- --Lallana-------
-
still think we should go 433 playing morgan cork and victor in the middle, those 3 would win most midfield battles this year.

Who is to blame for the Summer of inactivity?
DrunkenSaint replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Spot on, its our forward line that needs boosting and even in the few pre season games against the better sides we can't score for toffee. If our club is serious about European football we need a forward line that can provide us goals but it's also important to get them early so that they can get used to the way we play and get to know the team mates. What we don't want to happen is to dominate the early games without scoring then getting a new striker in on deadline day and for him to take 5-10 games to settle in. -
Will this current squad propel us into Europe?
DrunkenSaint replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Saints
not with our current 3 forward players in Lambo, J-Rod and Lallana, they are good for lower-mid table but they wont take us into Europe. Our midfield seems to be there (Cork, Victor and Morgan) and for once im happy with our defence but we need goals so we need a top winger and a striker to compete for European football. -
so £22m for someone who can score goals, create goals and would help us get into the top half of the league with a bonus of £90m + each season.....bargin
