New financial rules would have cost QPR £15m fine
shurlock replied to Ken Tone's topic in The Lounge
The swiss ramble piece makes for eye-watering reading - when QPR went up, their wages to turnover ratio was 183%. Isn't ours 80 odd percent or was that for the 2010/2011 L1 season? http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/queens-park-rangers-hoop-dreams.html?utm_source=BP_recent -
Seen the highlights-that looked a penalty.

Junior hoilett but probably destined for bigger things.
-
Agree he's a c**k but he's done a good job to be fair. He has had to work within very tight constraints set by the penny-pinching, mick owner and smallish attendances. He's managed to find decent some players e.g. taylor even while he's been forced to let others go e.g. CMS.

Junior Hoilett from B'burn would be nice but we have no chance of getting him.

Bet Vardy, the fleetwood player who was linked with us in Jan ends up coming.

...its precisely coz they're "'ard and nawty" that they were only given 2000.
-
Thought the ref had a good game - let it flow which suited both sides. If I was griping, perhaps Lambert should have got more protection and I'd like to see the challenge on Chaplow in their box again.
-
Think they were only given an allocation of 2000.

Not funny the first time it was sung at the MK Dons ginga and not funny now; but, seriously, who gives a f**k. At least, its not as bad as the pineapple on his head chant -and ffs that went national.

good post.

Ince Burke (perhaps not young enough?) Clayton Chester/Tomkins

Sharp had his best game in a saints shirt - held the ball up really well (if only he had a bit of pace) while Rickie had a relatively quiet game. Chaplow was energetic but lacked quality. Hammond and Cork were both immense. Lallana didn't too much in an attacking sense -though he was involved in both goals; but tracked back brilliantly. Butterfield was the better of the two FBs. Similar story with Jos vs. Fonte.

Tinpot club, tinpot support - at least, they'll be fitting replacements for Blackburn, Wigan or Bolton.
-
Lets not forget Forest - they've picked up since O'Driscoll's arrived and are quite a threat.

TBH, Hammond has done more than adequately in the three games he's deputised for Schneiderlin.

Think the times slightly favour the 6th placed team -going away for a night fixture has always felt tougher -from the atmosphere to the lower numbers an away team takes. By contrast, the 6th placed team plays the away leg at a reasonable time. Saying that, we've hardly benefited from evening fixtures at SMS this season.

Top 5 reasons not to give a f*ck if we go up or not
shurlock replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
So is it OK for some random from the gambia to support us. Whats the difference -the fact we're neither fashionable nor particularly successful? -
I had you down as a harry's place person.

F**k me, that's brave. Put a few notes down at Bet365 on Thursday when our odds were 16/1 to make the playoffs - they've now been slashed to 9/2. As you say, it leaves a dirty feeling.
-
Mate, what is it with you and Lambert? You're more protective than pinksaint and barny's little fanclub.
-
Bit of both but the time having to wait is a killer.

Top 5 reasons not to give a f*ck if we go up or not

You seem to equate being tested and progression with winning - that's not the case. I want to see saints test themselves against the best -win, lose or draw and get better as a result. Reading exhibited PL ruthlessness on Friday - they showed Danny Fox that if you get sucked inside, you'll get punished. In recent weeks, Hull (three times) and Palace (once through Martin) let Fox off similar mistakes. I want to see us be the best we can be, cutting out mistakes like that and playing the likes of arsenal or man city is just a means to that end. And crashing the big four beauty parade and bloodying a few noses would only make it sweeter. What has made this season great is not just the winning but the fact that we were underdogs for large parts of it - that teams and oppo fans expected to beat us -and still do- and were shocked when they didnt. That would be even truer in the Prem where self-regard and narcissism is on a totally different level. It must be great being a Norwich or Swansea right now and I want to be back doing that with my Saints.
