Mathematically possible but not an easy task. To do so we would need to start beating teams in the top 6 and we are not finding that very easy either.
-
I am one of those that will cheer the team on at every home game irrespective of position. I would love to see us gain a playoff place but am realistic to know that from here on it will need a title winning run to get there. As of yet I do not believe we are capable of doing that. We have not done that well against the top 6 as of yet. every time we play and lose to a top 6 team we increase the points gap. This means basically if we were to lose all of our games against the top 6 we would have a 16 point difference to overcome. Whilst still a possibility I will still hope but I am not going to break sweat if we don't make it. Is that what makes me the title of this thread.

Don't say things like that please. You will have us all drooling in anticipation. Mind you the thought is worth a second look.

Doesn't matter what channel it is on. It is money coming in.

I am a season ticket holder as is my 11 yo daughter. Next season maybe my 6 yo son as well most likely. That said we have only seen 2 away games. That makes me a gutless, spineless and pathetic poster does it. Wake up you cretins. Just because some can afford to go to every game doesn't make you supermen. Just lucky or not depending on how we are playing. I am not blind and think AP has cost us points at times. That said I am not asking for his head on a plate. Instead I am asking him to back his judgement a little bit more. His words were that we needed to win. Not anybody elses. So get off your sanctimonious arses and think about what you have watched this season or even today. It was not today, a performance threatening Millwall a lot of danger. Not my words but those of some who went. We will do well to finish 8th in my book. Any better is a bonus. But next season we will be ready to rumble. All we need is someone at the helm with enough confidence in our team to produce the results. After the close season with another two or three signings I can see us tearing teams apart. Is it possible for anybody to post on a thread without getting slagged off if we win every game? No because some sad asses have to abuse others or don't feel manly.

I have been saying for two years that we have a weak midfield. Ap has started with a **** poor team and improved it no end. Now though he needs to decide where we intend to go next. Our midfield needs urgent attention and that means players like Stock and Danns are a necessity. For any team to play smooth flowing football you must have a midfield.
-
AP has consistantly failed to take the initiative when as you say we are in a game that we needed to win.

Since our defeat at Leeds we have started to wobble. Defeat followed at Colchester and a draw today at Millwall. Our record against the top teams is not good and this could stop us from getting closer to the playoffs. Today we played with a new back four and this last game might have had a different result in a week or two. I can see our back four tightening up so how will we fare? I think we will finish in about 8th place. Any higher will be a bonus in my book. Our biggest loss of points recently though is something I feel that could have been avoided. AP has been far to negative and this will always cost points in the end. I am beginning to wonder whether AP has a basic flaw in his armoury. He says we want to go up but then doesn't pick a team to take the game to our opponents. Why, is he still scared of losing more than he is confident of winning?
-
Pardon if i am puzzled. If three of the back four have barely met or trained together surely the 4th player won't have trained with or met them either? Shouldn't it have been a back four that had hardly??????????????? In which case I would imagine that we did reasonably well.

Last home game they were selling them half price. May have sold out by now. clintons could be best bet.
-
interesting but perhaps we could offer him 6 months with the promise of more if it works out. Being released by two clubs does not look good on your CV.
-
If we get Stock that would enable both Hammond and or Morgan to play in a more attacking vein.
-
For whatever reason, Seaborne has been selected before Ward. Even though a little disappointed not to get Ward I am beginning to think that just maybe we have had the better deal.We are told that the lad has been watched regularly so he has something AP must like. That in itself is enough for me.
-
Sounds interesting that scouts have been watching Seaborne for a while. Overall the more we think about it we have hopefully sorted out the back. Now we would like a big, mobile holding player to release the like of hammond for his forward runs.
-
We had a proven goalscorer last season that welet go very cheaply. he scored at a much better ratio than mifsud has done in the same league.
-
Murty, Connolly are just two who impressed during training and got contracts. bad luck maybe but trials don't always prove anything. Just that the player concerned wants a contract. Supposing that he gets a regular starting place whose position does he take? Connolly perhaps as he is similar in that he is a nippy striker. Lallana who is slower, Papa or Antonio? Paterson is already way down the pecking order and another striker will push him further down. We are overloaded with players and yet we don't have the one thing this team really needs. A good holding midfielder. Someone with more than Wotton has though Paul always gives you everything. Fonte and Seaborne are hopefully going to keep us going till the season finishes with Jaidi and Perry making it 4 CB's. Both newcomers able to cover there side of the pitch as backs as well. forwards are not something I would have thought we were in need of. However if this Mifsud could show AP that he is too good to miss then by all means go for it. I trust AP, but not blindly, to keep picking players to improve us. Most of his choices have worked out though not all.

Point taken about the age. read somewhere else that he was in his 30's. Should have known better than believe what is read before checking here. Even so I fail to see why we need to employ more squad players. With the size of squad we have we should be buying/signing players that will feature regularly in our first team. That is IMHO of course.
-
We have a squad of about 40 players. To sign another aging player when we have younger ones itching for a chance is not condusive to the fostering of a healthy team spirit. If he is only going to be used as cover why bother? we may not yet be able to attract the quality from the top clubs but neither do we need to add unnecessarily to our wage bill. He scores to infrequently to make me even slightly interested. SO WHAT IN THAT IS THERE TO BE ASHAMED OFF?
-
i sincerely hope not.

When this season started we would all have been happy to be where we are now. We have progressed and in my eyes I think we have progressed quite quickly. We may not make the playoffs this time around but I bet a pound to a pinch of sh1t you will find it nigh on impossible to get a price on us making it next season as champions. AP has done fairly well and I only have one minor criticism of him. I feel that he is a bit too cautious. Leeds and Colchester could both have been beaten if we had taken the game to them earlier. IMHO of course. Overall I trust him to provide us with a winning team and believe we will happily be cheering the RED and WHITES home next season.
-
I would love to see him do it though. give them some problems of their own.
-
Bart James, Fonte, Perry/Thomas, Harding Waigo, Hammond, Morgan, Lallana Lambert, Paterson Paterson is big enough to complement Lambert and has done relatively well this season. I would like to see him given a chance. If we were to pick up Stock in time I would be sorely tempted to put him on the bench to see and how we fare first. If needed he is a good alternative. Davis, Wotton, Stock, Antonio, Seaborne, Thomas/Perry, Gobern my biggest concern and it has been for a while is pace.
-
Visited one of their sites yesterday and they are very volatile. Say that they will be waiting for us and asked whether we will be running away, again. We have just got to win this one to shut them up.
-
Fair comment but if we are building, are we first trying to build a team or the squad. I feel that at the moment we are able to buy players because though dropping a level they are more or less guaranteed a game. This in my book makes them the first names on the team sheet. So if Pardew buys a player to play in Adam's position where will Adam play?
