Come the end of the January window I feel certain that we will have a bloody good idea of next seasons title winning side. Maybe one or two additions after the season ends to wrap it all up big time.
-
As we saw last year, a young player coming into a struggling side does not always work.
-
Must admit I think he could end up in the hammond style of player. Hopefully with a little more end product.
-
I tend to think that the only way for some of our youngsters to progress is the loan market. Unless they are another Theo or gareth they will not find many chances of a game now at SMS. Give them some real live footy and you just might get a player or two that will benefit the squad in the future.

Saints 2-2 (5-3 on pens) Torquay - Match Reaction
SFC Forever replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
I said on another thread that this game would have been a good one in which to give Bart a game. Having been played in two winning games he would have been ready and might not have thrown away/gifted torquay either goal. -
Why do we have the same old tired worn out themes repeating? AP is so far doing ok, not good yet but maybe soon to come. Give the man, the team and the club some time for god's sake.

Kelvin was at fault for both goals torquay netted duriong the game. He could also have been sent off. Just lately he has started to worry me with his lowering standards. Perhaps he needs a rest. Bart has played two games and both were wins while on loan so he could have had a game last night. Another win could have helped him settle and start showing the form he was in a few years back.

Big John left many so called hard men flat and not all lucky enough to be on their back. Brian O'niell and Dennis Hollywood would have made our defence just a little more fearsome as well.

Good bye and good luck to you APNow we know why he couldn't get a game. Can't have 2 AP's can we?

Saints 2-2 (5-3 on pens) Torquay - Match Reaction

We played some fringe players and found them lacking. We are through so I am happy enough with that. Would have given Bart a game though as he must have been buzzing having been a winner twice in the last week. -
Reading thru this thread I was thinking exactly the same. I am sure gillett would be able to do the holding role. Then again I am also thinking along the lines that Morgan could grow into the role as he toughens up under our new regime. It would be nice to find another stronger version but if we are going to keep him we should try to build a team around him. Wotton is only ever going to be short term. He is aging and that will make him even slower and more likely to get booked for late tackles. One thing that amuses me is the reliance of people on tackling. Tackling is an art form of it's own. Players that are good at this art are few and far between. A hell of a lot of good skilfull players have found this art beyond them at most times. MLT for example. Morgan has a lot going for him and if he is good enough for our team and our manager we simply need to fill the team with enough muscle to help him out. AP will undoubtedly have in his own mind how he sees us progress. I have seen enough to believe that he will do us proud. That said, I will cheer every player we see in our colours even if I don't think he/they is/are good enough. If wotton playing helps us play as a single fighting machine so be it.

I can't remember what I used to drink when driving but it was hot. After the crash the doc's don't think I will regain my memory but can repair my badly scolded legs..

It is amazing how often we see a good post cheer us all up for a while. Posts like this one from Landford are in line with the majority of us fans thoughts. Yes we are struggling and we all want to be a lot higher up the league. However the team is progressing and will come good, especially once AP has finished building for this season. I can envisage him with two thoughts in mind at the moment. First we need players short term and then we need players who will be here for the long haul. So far AP hasn't done too badly apart from the lack of points. This will soon be addressed and then we will all feel a lot better. IMVHO of course.

Tommac and The Saints Forum indirectly saved Saints!

Us weirdos don't very often get appreciated on here, so here's a great big thank you. -
Having nearly lost our club, some on here are quite prepared to give AP some time. Whilst time is not on our side I have grown increasingly frustrated with the way we have been run in recent times. Times that have seen several managerial changes over a relatively short span of time.Time now for a change of tack, I would think, as we have all grown fed up with the persistant changes. Changes that have seen us tumble down two divisions and very nearly see us going under. Under the new ownership I can envisage a slow but steady improvement like that which I have already noticed with our team. Our team needs us to get behind it and yesterday we did for good spells of the game. A game which I felt, and still feel, we should have won. We have improved, and soon will, hopefully, see points begin accumalating.

Today I am totally dejected. We had the game by the balls and gradually started to back off instead of pressing. Even when they were losing, Rovers continued to press and attack the ball. We retake the lead and then stop playing after a few minutes where we couldn't add to the tally. Why we had some of the subs that we did confused a lot of people. AP is going to lose the fans unless he starts doing things that make sense.

Just about to leave home(Salisbury) on route to game. Hope we can really give the team some good vocal support.

His wife kept him going in the darkest hours and now we are all praying for a miracle to help her. Our thoughts go with you at this time Ron.

They have been banging in the goals for fun lately. RL has hardly been missed.

If we are just out of the bottom 4 by xmas we will still not be doing that well. It will though, help us in so far as we will know that we are climbing away from the bottom.

Creme de la creme

I take my 10 yo daughter to every game and my 6yo son now and then. I nearly always stop at the Chapel for a glass or two before the game and the catering van for some nosh. Kids don't mind and nobody else seems to be bothered by the fact that kids so young are there. It is for the game after all. Take them early and let them enjoy the climb back up the hill.

Sounds like the feel good factor is alive and well. All we need now is Carlisle to have a tough game with our blue neighbours before they beat them. Then we can get a slightly easier game with them getting tired towards the finish of our game.
