  1. Do not be surprised to see Osvaldo back here in the summer. I've heard there will be an attempt to patch things up.
  2. Yeh, there is sonething very evil and nasty going on at the club...I mean not telling the Echo what funds will be available....thats dispicable. Meanwhile in other news...
  3. What baffles me is why they need to charge £10 for the privelage of moving your seat. Now THATS a rip-off!!!
  4. I don't know - £28 increase doesn't seem too much extra IF the team is improved. But that's my big problem with the arrangement - you pay for a product you have no idea will look like. Would you buy a car without an engine or a house without a roof without even a sniff of a promise that those essential parts will be in place to your satisfaction when you take possession? Still, no doubt I'll be forking out for my Saints fix...the bar-stewards know they've got us - ST purchasing faithful - hook, line and sinker.
  5. Don't hold your breath....this is so typical of Turkish and others on here derailing decent threads. It's ruined what was an informative and entertaining site. Your OP is an excellent one. For me the simple answer lies in the maturity of the squad in the Prem in relation to the type of football Mopo wants. Thats why this summer is critical to the development of the squad and the clubs on-going success. To really shift the balance in our favour we need to bring in a GK, CB, AM, ST all of which must be of better quality than the players we now have. Unfortunately, I do not believe we will see more than 1 new face. From what I've heard Osvaldo will be coming back with nowhere to go which will hardly help with the mentality of the team.
  6. We will lose this...probably 2-0. We are rubbish in front of goal and very shaky in defence...nobody wants an injury so tackling will be soft. Yep, its another one of those woulda shoulda games.
  7. Yes, absolutely agree with this. We need more quality up front to take chances - shoot more accurately more often rather than try to walk it in.
  8. The worst game I've seen from Saints this season I'm afraid to say and that's saying something given the poor opposition today. Let's face it Cardiff had one shot on target and scored a great goal from it. We must have had 60-70% possession and fannied around with the ball all match. OK, perhaps not all match but large parts. Gazza is a disaster waiting to happen - a complete flapper of a keeper...dreadful really. Lambert and Lallana clearly had Brazil in their sights...(pity there was nobody from the England coaching set-up at SMS today - might have seen a better display) - both were lethargic. Fonte looked dodgy for parts of the game. Overall it matters little in the grand scheme of things, but I pay good money to see my team play better than that TBH.
  9. Not worth the money we paid for him - with a squad as thin as ours, we cannot afford for a player of his supposed ability not to step up when he's needed. As others have said, he's made of glass and not suited to the Prem really. Get rid in summer.
  10. Red and gold is the new black and silver. So we might see a red and yellow striped 1st team kit next season?
  11. Cynical gesture by the club to help justify next seasons ticket prices. Glasgow told me this so it must be true.
  12. We'll lose this...they want it more and the balance up front will be severely messed up without JRod. 1-2. Or not.
  13. Dreadful news for the club and Jay. I can see him taking a full 12 months to recover both his fitness and form and then reclaim his place. We cannot be without a key striker for that period of time, so I would expect some movement in the summer now. There is no other player in the club that could perform in Jay's position and at the same level as he has - however, we'll almost certainly see Ramirez step up now...it would appear to be a big chance for him to impress.
  14. Completely agree with video replays for goals, pens and red cards. The trouble is the better teams in the division move the ball quicker than others and if you can do that there is more chance that officials will make errors of judgement which could skew a game. I think it would be a really good leveller.
  15. Oh FFS. Sporting Director = Mopo out? For a club of our size (currently at least), I do get the feeling it's starting to look a little bit too top heavy...too many chiefs and all that? It's not as if Mopo and his coaching team are doing a bad job with the resources provided, so what exactly will a Sporting Director bring to the table. Plus, I thought Krueger was fulfilling the 'support the Head Coach' role??? Weird.
  16. This ^ completely.
  17. I knew we would lose when the team news came through. Why? Because Fonte is so dependant on Lovren and Boruc that when the latter is not in place, the central defensive balance is severely disrupted and Fonte effectively becomes half the player he can be. Gazza has no choice but to step up to the plate - it's the club's fault for not strengthening this position last summer as Davis is too old (and not good enough) to rely on. GK is not a position you can give to a youngster in the Prem when the CB pairing is flawed. The rest of the team had a good game - matched City for long periods. Some of the City players should be ashamed of their cheating actions, but Fonte gave away a valid pen - stupid, stupid decision making by him once again. Lambert tired a lot towards the end of the game - Gallagher has yet to demonstrate the type of footballing brain that will make him a replacement for Lambert or indeed a real Prem threat. Last, but not least - as pointed out many times already - the horrendously poor lino decision not to give offside for the their 2nd was a game changer - that was the difference between the teams at that point and the lino may as well have run on the pitch as 12th man and scored the goal himself. Should be sent back to L2.
  18. 3-1 loss. Lots of meltdown and Mopo out stuff on here.
  19. Top four. (Someone had to say it) (;
  20. Absolutely this - if this club wants to be what it aspires to, then keeping Shaw is of paramount importance.
  21. Totally outstanding performance - for anyone who didn't see the match, don't be told that 4-0 was because Newcastle were poor (they were) - it was mostly to do with a collective performance that befitted a top four team. Oh yes, if that had been Arsenal or 'Pool the pundits would be dribbling over their programmes. It would be wrong to pick out just one or two Saints players as MOTM - they were all fantastic to a man, but J-Rod, Lallana, Lambert, Cork and Davis were outstanding. Shaw and Chambers put on displays that surely must be placing them at the front of the England managers thoughts - real class. Boruc will not earn an easier pay-day than that.
  22. While I understand this mid-table game has little bearing on the top and bottom battles, to be fair a 4-0 thrashing of one of the old institutions is an interesting issue in it's own right, but the fact that we completely bossed the game with some excellent quality football with many Brazil bound England players or hopefuls is probably even more important. It was noticeable that the last game got a game analysis, but ours didn't...was it too painful for Shearer to discuss?
  23. Oh how I wish that were true, but when others keep quoting GS it's pointless having an ignore filter. Mind you, it was quite a giggle seeing GS and Barry being used as a b1tches in this thread.
  24. Lallana, Lambert and Fonte all act as leaders on the pitch. They are all experienced???
  25. Got to say I agree with basics of this. We're not gifted with world class ball players and although the principles of keeping the ball are sound, when under pressure deep in your own half, best to put it in row ZZ.
