If seven people wanted to buy one of these together... http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/Products/adidas-Tiro-13-Short-Sleeve-Football-Shirt-Mens-Football-Teamwear-University-RedWhite-60786.aspx - one cpuld do the buying once they'd received money from six peeps. This would attract 20% discount on each shirt - i.e. £18 - £3.60=£14.40! With or without the logo, to wear team colours, why pay £50 a pop???!!!

Don't think Hooper is the right man for us.

Anyone received their season tickets by post yet
Saint Fan CaM replied to terrasaint's topic in The Saints
I think they're so busy dealing with buyers at SMS they don't have the time/resources to post - I've yet to receive mine, but hey there's a few weeks before kick-off yet. -
They really have got hold of the wrong end of the stick there. He said he knows nothing of the detail regarding the negotiation - his agent is dealing with it - not that he knows nothing about the contact. They've just spun the information a different way. I suspect he used careful phrasing because he's been told not to give anything away to the media or the deal is off. This one is therefore looking more likely to me.

I just really love the way you never resort to sarcasm to get your point across. Top poster.

As has been said above, we have seen a mix of both incoming youngsters and home-grown, but they've got to be good enough. Some the problem currently is that we've come up from L1 too quickly for top, top youngsters to bleed through the system. There are some waiting in the wings I believe and their time will come, but there's a small matter of ensuring we bridge the gap until they're ready and improve the squad we have. We can either do that with aging journeymen or very good youngsters...you do the math.
-
Yes, but my limited understanding is that Banega is more the playmaker and can score goals, while still being able to tackle excellently - exactly what we need in other words.
-
I think I'd rather we got Banega if there was a choice.
-
Liking that quite a bit...but the mia san mia inside collar ("we are who we are") is from FC Bayern Munich, so this kit is somewhat unlikely.
-
Seems the Banega talk is hotting up, however I cannot believe for one minute that with Lambert and JRod we will be interested in putting money into a striker like Hooper. I would have thought the interest died when Adkins left the building.
-
Expansion will happen and probably to circa 40k initially. The big question is when. If we finish anywhere in the top 10 this coming season then I suspect summer 2015 will be the earliest.
-
A good signing by all accounts. Would like to see Astori in too, but perhaps the focus is further up the field now for new signings?
-
Banega would be an incredible signing - just the type of player needed to compliment Schneiderlin (or indeed Cork or Davis). We're stepping up, but this one does seem too good to be true.
-
If this true I for one will not be buying a new kit. We are going to lose our essential identity over time. And I say this as a person who cares little about these debates to be honest. But no - this would be a step too far in the wrong direction for me.

How do you follow the Saints when you're not in Southampton
Saint Fan CaM replied to aussiesaint20's topic in The Saints
I am currently in Barbados and have been keeping track occasionally of transfer news (ha!) on here mainly. Sometimes I'll look at Newsnow streams. As a little aside, I got to see a Legends 6-a-side tournement in Bridgetown at the weekend. The Carribean All-Stars won thanks to some fantastic strikes by none other than Stern John. Other notable performances came from Kevin Davies (PFA All-Stars) and Robbie Fowler (Liverpool). Plenty of other 'name' players including Denis Wise who had to go home early due to a managerial issue. -
Sounds like he's being a bit of a knoob.
-
Pretty much exactly this.
-
How about kind of Arsenal reverse - white with red sleeves, but with black or navy shorts? Mock up anyone?

Boyhood football hero - RIP Ron.

The 'who we've been linked to this summer thread'
Saint Fan CaM replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Not sure if this has been mentioned before...Ruiz would be a good signing for us... http://blog.squawka.com/2013/05/29/southampton-eye-centre-back-with-84-pass-accuracy-transfer-scouting-report/201305299978 -
SAINTS 1-1 Stoke City // Post-Match Reaction
Saint Fan CaM replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Jos and Kelvin conspired to give them the game - stupid pass out from the back was the start of pressure and then their goal. Lallana is increasingly looking out of his depth now, but a good pre-season rest may help him (although from what I've heard the players will not be rested that much). Davis is a great midfielder, but he cannot shoot for toffee and must be replaced. Goodness knows what will happen to Ramirez - £12m to recoup? We need a top CB and an AM and a good pacey striker - a Michu. -
Are Stoke the ugliest 'football' team in the Premier?
Saint Fan CaM replied to Norm's topic in The Saints
It was a travesty that Stoke got anything out of that game given the style of football they play, but then they do have some good finishers and some real pace in the side. Trouble is they're told to play in a certain way by Pulis and that seems to be that. No wonder their own fans don't like him. -
I feel the captaincy and in particular injury have haunted him a little, plus I think he's being found a little short of pace in the Prem...he can't get away from defenders like he could in the Championship or L1. Still a good player, but actually don't think the armband will be taken from him - the boss needs someone like him (i.e. a long serving player) for new players to identify with. I do think he will gradually find himself more on the bench though as we strengthen the squad - even now Puncheon offers more attacking threat to be fair.

Utter trash-worthy opinion from a journo that has issues with the club - always has and always will. The day he writes some news is the day I might take notice of him.

End of Season Review: 14th Place - 41 points
Saint Fan CaM replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Great season of ups and downs really. Although very saddened to see Adkins go, I was equally delighted with the Pochettino effect and what it has done to improve JRod. Very excited about the summer and next season now.
