  1. If we don't strengthen the squad very early in the transfer window so we get a full summer of training camp in, then I'm afraid we will finish 17th. I know this because I found it out on this forum. I daren't disagree, because it might upset the apple-cart and we'll get relegated as a result - it's forum law.
  2. I doubt very much that we will buy a high-wage earning 29 year-old, especially with a wealth of talent coming through the Academy. And frankly it's a bit daft even thinking we will.
  3. Am I pleased they didn't fold? Yes - the rivalry is great and there would be no gloating to be had at their slow drop down the tables if they went bust. Am I pleased they are still in L1? No - they don't deserve to be and I will be pleased if/when they go down.
  4. I really like Chappers - great player and well worth the money we invested in him. I feel a bit sorry for players like though - they work their socks off to move a club on, but then have to move themselves because they're not deemed good enough - usually players that ability-wise sit between the Championship and the Prem. Makes them look like journeymen when that's not really the case. Hope he sorts his injury out soon and finds a deserving club (if indeed he is on his way).
  5. Pochitino knows how get team playing to beat top attack-minded teams. He now needs to learn how to sort out defensive hoof ball teams. He will, and when that happens we will really kick-on.
  6. Outstanding performance and a result that was fully justified. I don't want to hear any nonsense from the media saying how poor Liverpool were - Saints completely dominated that game and taught them a football lesson. I cannot believe how many hoofing route one balls Liverpool tried to make - they just didn't come here with a game plan.
  7. Does this mean that Lambert is not the only over 30's striker not to score for a long time?
  8. Would like to see Lambert on the bench with JRod up front and a front three of Lallana, Ramirez and Puncheon. Bring on Lambert for Ramirez at 75mins to shore up lead or push for equaliser etc. Simples.
  9. This has heavy defeat written all over it. 1-3 loss at best.
  10. For those of you that think Reading are down, I suggest you think QPR. With the league so tight none of the bottom 7 teams are safe or indeed defo down at this stage.
  11. Agree with this. The possession football is great if it leads to something. We're too pedestrian. I'm getting fed up with number of times Lambert is getting caught with his back to goal.
  12. OK, I missed out the word ' lately' and you're too daft to read all my comment, just choosing to home in on the bit that you want to. Fact is, Lambert has scored how many in open play in the Prem? And of those, how many in the last 6 games? He is our main striker - at the moment he is not scoring and not looking likely to score unless Lallana dives in the box so he can score from the spot. Even his free kicks on goal are as potent as a courage shandy. He needs to up his game. I'd like to see Jrod up front and a mid three of Lallana, Ramirez and Punch - I reckon we would be more fluid in attack. r
  13. We are substandard at the front and at CB. Lambert is great at holding up and his distribution is good but he's slow and can't hit a barn door - not the attributes of a striker in the Prem. Lallana should be shot for his big miss - again he did not demonstrate the attributes of a Prem level player. Holt dived for their pen - dreadful decision by Clattenburg.
  14. Excellent stats. Telling point was how we will defo struggle to keep him if we go down (which we won't).
  15. No smoke without fire? I thought MP was friendly with RDM anyway so perhaps he was a guest of MP's? Di Matteo would be an outstanding appointment, but my feeling is he is working in an unofficial consultative manner.
  16. Mmm, don't like this one bit - I think we could easily go up there and get caught napping (again) - just the sort of team we don't do well against. 2-1 to Norwich.
  17. Excellent news and well deserved by KD. He loves the club and Southampton too - not just a club stalwart but now a loyal resident. If you watch his interviews on Saintsplayer he really comes across as an extremely credible bloke and I can imagine that he provides much to the team even when playing a back-up role. Best of luck for the future with Saints KD.
  18. This. Completely. Anyone who thinks Surman is in anyway vital to Norwich's campaign is frankly being a complete mong (just falling into line with usual SW protocol here you understand).
  19. It'll be between QPR, Reading, Villa, Saints, Wigan, Sunderland and possibly even Wet Sham (still reckon they'll drop down). Loads to play for yet.
  20. Next you'll be telling us he was bought for the Championship! lol
  21. Can't single out just one from yesterday - it was an alround rubbish team performance. Even the peoples darling Lambert was awful and didn't look interested some of the time.
  22. Agreed. I'm in section 4 BTW.
  23. I don't think he's going anywhere soon. He provides exactly the style of play that is desired by NC. Trouble is, like Adkins before him, he has limited options in the players available to him to deliver. He's finding out some key issues - it's how he reacts that counts. Can't see us going down, but Lambert and some others need to step up to the plate and put in some consistent shifts.
  24. Well yes exactly, but will he react well to not playing consistently? Fact is waiting until the summer is probably a good thing.
