Should MP drop Lambert for the Palace game!
Saint Fan CaM replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Lambert doesn't deserve a place at the moment based on current performance - he is not acting as a striker and under different circumstances we would not be able to afford having a player that is not performing. However, what do we have to replace him with? Gallagher is nowhere near ready and frankly so far I've been completely underwhelmed - he's just not showing even a glimpse of class (unlike JWP, Shaw, Clyne and Chambers). And that's it - there's nothing else...pointless playing someone like Gaston in that position - he hasn't got the beef in him to jostle with CB's. No, unfortunately, Lambert is the only option we have. -
Liverpool were fantastic. Saurez movement is excellent and Gerrard is back to his best. We were OK, but our finishing is woeful at the moment. Chambers and Shaw were excellent. Cork, Morgan and Davis were competent. Lallana was excellent. Lambert and JRod were awful. I don't know what has happened to Lambert (I've been told he has some kind of archilles issue), but he is almost completely ineffective now.JRod is proving he is no more than an ok Championship player...so wasteful in front of goal and can't seem to get his head up to deliver a telling pass. And so to the bench. Wanyama is a shadow of when he started for us, but to bring on a defensive midfielder who loses the ball easily when we need to create chances was asking for trouble. Expecting a young striker to come on and affect the game is extremely hopeful, but Gallagher is not showing the same level of class that Shaw, Chambers and Ward-Prowse do...he needs to go on loan to a L1 or Championship side to learn his trade. I keep saying it...the summer is going to be very interesting indeed in terms of us moving on or falling backwards.

I doubt it. There's probably some balancing of books to be done before the club is sold if the prophets of doom are to be believed.
-
Yes, the shocker is the squad he's got - should by all accounts be running away with the league, but it just goes to show that sometimes money doesn't always win.
-
I don't know why, but I love seeing that mug suffer. Having said that, if he'd got the England job I would have been happy with that. Strange old world.
-
No, you just can't see past the red mist can you. Your visionary disclosure of the future had NC stayed is impressive - "it was never going to" - wow, can you give me the lottery numbers for tonight please? What are the "far simpler themes" then? Come on...we're waiting to hear what you have to say on the matter...who knows, you might bring us around to your view with a well constructed thought process of your own (rather than trying to offend at every opportunity). I tell you what - at the end of the summer, when we're about to embark on next season's campaign based on the new regimes actions, let's review the situation again. It's a kind of win-win...if the new regime provides the same or better results on the pitch then we'll all be content - well I will for one.
-
And that was...?
-
Yep, I'm of the same opinion in terms of being happy with our progress to date. You have posed a very valid question - will the same level of high expectation carry on with the new regime? Who knows - the first test will be in the summer I suspect. As far as negativity following the Cup exit is concerned, I think we need to break that down into two parts - (a) did the Manager/Club/Team throw the match or was it a case of a decent squad of players playing a gash game of football against a side who know wanted it more? (I blame the players), (b) in the bigger scheme of things, utilising an already depleted and thin squad on a Cup run when it is known that a good proportion may be needed in Brazil might be considered the wrong move. (I don't agree that our season ended when the Cup run ended and thinking otherwise is IMHO short-sighted).

I think the interesting thing with Morgan is his level of performance when he plays with either Wanyama or Cork. My feeling is he is better with Cork, because the role he adopts then suits him more....I.e. Cork seems to be the one that pushes forward more. Perhaps that role is less needed in French squad?
-
OK CB, lets get to the bottom of this. You're really angry because the likes of Frank, myself and a few others on here were optimistic that the success NC brought to the club to date MIGHT one day in the future also bring us a top 6 place and Champions league football? Is that correct?
-
Sorry, I missed something there...when did Grimsby reach the Prem with back to back promotions, invest heavily in a first class academy and court the attention of top FA officials in relation to the manner in which the club was being run?
-
Ah, I wondered how long it would take for Turkish to bite. See what I've learnt from the mongboard trolls such as you and your alter-ego CB is that to get noticed on here you've got to come up with an irritating hook that winds the trolls up. My little experiment worked...thanks for confirming that. LOL (experiment over now).
-
Don't hold your breath...mongboards thrive off the likes of CB and so you'll not see him getting infracted anytime soon despite his vitriolic bad tempered posts.
-
Yep, can't argue with that.
-
Are you aiming for some kind of mong-board Pulitzers Prize?!? This ^ completely...you're on a roll Frank. Such a shame CB has no comprehension of...well...anything seemingly. LOL
-
Troll on sunshine...have you taken your foot out of your mouth yet? Why don't you try finding something intelligent to say like Frank eh? I mean, you don't have to agree - that's fine, but you're really not doing yourself any favours acting like that. PS: I'll give you a clue - I couldn't care less about Cortese IF the team and the club in general continue to be successful. I know that doesn't fit with your warped mind, but that's the facts bud. LOL
-
Jeez, once again you've managed to hit the nail on head once again. CB unfortunately thinks too simply to see any kind of big picture.
-
I'll be honest and say I haven't a clue. I was just under the impression he was able to play for England under naturalisation rules?
-
He should switch over to England...he has the right to and would have a great shout at a place in the squad.
-
Err, hang on...does that mean our season is not over now and that there's still something to play for? Congrats to all four - brilliant achievement.
-
I hope he wins the case to be honest. Cynical dirty tackles to take out the player should never be seen at any level of the sport, let alone at the highest pro levels. These are so called players that really need to be eradicated from the game - players like Wes Brown for example who seem to survive week after week causing GBH on opponents.
-
What I love about these made up stories is they don't bother considering the possibility that SAINTS are in contention to keep hold of Shaw. Why would they I suppose.
-
I think there should be a poll Mods - will we get our stripes back next season - yes or no. My guess would be no.
-
Perhaps he was - or perhaps there's some misinterpretation going on where somebody has said sacked but meant 'constructively dismissed'? Who knows - but I for one have yet to be overwhelmed with optimism about the club's future under KL and her hockey-man. As I've said, time will tell.
